I purchased a groupon a week ago because i was having really bad back pain, i figured since it was so affordable and so close to home why not try it since it might help. I had to call the office 5 different times on four different days in order to make an appointment. I tried both the number that was provided with my groupon for the brooklyn (bensonhurst location) and the manhattan number and i left a voicemail with my name and number stating that i purchased a groupon and would like to make an appointment please call me back to schedule.(never got the call back) I decided to give it one last try before i contact groupon to say it was impossible to make an appointment, i finally got through at their manhattan number and was able to schedule an appointment.
My overall experience: when i first got there i was met by karina, i arrived early because i knew i had to complete some paper works and she asked me a few questions and then i was brought to the room to change. I was provided with a tshirt and sweats to change into. She told me she was going to do the japanese accupuncture because it was less invasive.. she applied 5 needles one on each limb and one on my forehead for about 10 minutes and she told me to try to take a nap since it works better that way but the room was just way too cold and i had to try hard not to shiver since i had needles on me. After that she told me to lay facing down and she applied a couple of needles up and down my back and that was left on for 15-20 mintues after that she removed the needles and left the room, i thought there would be a third part to this whole accupuncture since i paid for a 60minute session but only received a 35 minute at MAX (i rounded up INCLUDING the time it took me to change my clothes and back) but when i asked her if it was done, should i get changed she said yes because i was the last patient and her car was parked at a meter.
I took away one star because it was quite difficult for me to make the appointment
I took away another 2 star because i paid for a 60 minute session and only received a 30 minute session.
Final thoughts: the facility was clean, karina was nice she eventually turned on a heated lamp for me but i was quite upset that i ended up getting only half the time of what i paid for. I would have been happier if she left the needles in for another 10-15 minutes whether it would have physically made any difference for my back or not at least i would have felt i got my moneys worth and that would have changed my yelp rating drastically. Since i just completed the accupuncture session i cant tell if it was effective, and this is my first time trying accupuncture so i dont have anything else to compare it to... maybe if i feel a difference in a few days ill come back and add another star for effectiveness. read more
