I had our contractor friend take a peak after The Top Hatter reported all this last year, after I hired Top Hatter to clean out our chimney. The company I had hired the 2 years before, reported nothing of the sort. Our contractor friend agreed with Top Hatter's report, and said the price they quoted was fair. I misplaced the the quote/paperwork from last year. And wasn't even sure which company had made the report. I called Top Hatter the other week, inquiring if they are the company who had seen us last year. The lady who answered the phone was cheery, did a quick search for my account, and had all the notes from last year, in front of her, in the company's system, with in seconds. Original review: Our family chose 7 Pines based on their high ratings to replace a warranty water heater for our elderly mother, but the experience was a disaster. If you have a split system (combined furnace/water heater), I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The issues: Technical Negligence: They installed a new water heater without turning off the furnace. Multiple secondary experts confirmed this likely damaged the heat exchange or resulted in an incorrect hookup. We now have lukewarm water and a compromised system. Lack of knowledge: Despite clear evidence, the owner denied it was a split system, even though we are currently receiving bids to separate the two units due to the damage caused. Failed communication: We were repeatedly told someone would come to fix the issues. On several occasions (including a promised Friday visit), no one showed up and no one called. I had to initiate every follow-up. Warranty refusal: Even though the hot water stopped working immediately following their installation, they refused to honor their work warranty or provide a refund for the service work that they not only failed to adequately perform, but also caused damage to another system. We ultimately had to hire another company to diagnose the mess. 7 Pines lacked the basic technical knowledge to handle this install and showed zero accountability when things went wrong. Tim saw on line our appliances had been delivered and reached out indicating he was available to come right over which saved us a bunch of waiting around time due to the delivery window of 3 hours. We thought our whole day was filled with waiting for delivery first and then installation. Tim arrived and greeted me professionally and took a quick look at the work to be done. From start to finish, it was less than an hour and a half. Throughout, Tim was engaging without being distracted from his work. Careful with our counters, cabinets, flooring and other appliances, and just an overall really pleasant person to have in our home. While he didn't have to make any alterations to our existing cabinetry, I can only assume his work would have been excellent. I was very impressed with his ethical standards. In our conversations, he mentioned an experience he had with a prior customer who had purchased an appliance that wouldn't fit the space they had and when they tried to coordinate a return, the big box store refused the return and told them to find someone to sell the brand new appliance to, rather than making it right for the customer. Tim told me he stopped contracting with that big box store after that because they didn't put the client first. That impressed me. Unfortunately, I bought a lemon so Tim had Manuel come out and pull the lemon dishwasher and install the new dishwasher. Manuel did an amazing job of replacing the new unit and went above and beyond with leveling and ensuring the dishwasher fit perfectly. He was prompt and left everything very clean.
