I finally tried Northeast Taxidermy after seeing a beautifully mounted woodcock on their website. They told me to bring it in and they would take a look at it to see if it was feasible. The shop is almost 2 hours away, but not a bad trip at all. Owners Joe and Lowrey, are really great people, they showed me around their really impressive facility, and took the bird in. About 4 months later, I received a call from Lowrey, saying the bird was done. I picked it up today, and I was absolutely blown away by the incredible job. The bird is flying, mounted on a nice piece of driftwood, and has a hook on the back to hang it on the wall. I could not be happier.

I gave him two mounts to do during the 2018 hunting season and pushed to get my trophies back in June of 2020. One year pass a normal lead time. Waiting one year longer is unacceptable. This happened one other time when I used Tom and I did not learn my lesson. Anyone would be simply out of their minds to ever use Tom's. Do yourself a favor and just drive by when looking for a taxidermist.

Cool place with some cool finds in a sleepy town, but shoddy service…read more Word of warning: when I visited the store, a nice but bumbling man behind the counter clearly had difficulty ringing up every single customer (didn't know prices, couldn't figure out the calculator, had difficulty bagging). He told us that he was the owners right-hand man. It was sort of cute and endearing UNTIL I got home and realized he didn't put something in my bag that I paid for (and spent time helping him add to my tab). I wrote the owner, or the email address tied to the owner on the site, with no response. Be very careful if you buy anything that all of your purchases are with you and rung up correctly.
