She said he was a joy to work with, and very kind, humble and knowledgeable. She suggested I try him. Hands-down, he is the best doctor that I've ever seen. He has wonderful bedside manner, was very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. He wasn't condescending. I don't need to see a neurosurgeon often, so it won't be often that I need to see him, but I wish there were more doctors like him. If you need a neurosurgeon, he's amazing

I am so thankful for Dr. Gates. I awoke 2 years ago with no previous trauma to my back, but could…read morenot stand up straight. The pain was excruciating, resulting in me having to go to the emergency room because the pain was so bad that it was adversely impacting my blood pressure. Due to multiple trips to the emergency room I was admitted. The attending physician in her discharge notes referred me as normal to an orthopedic specialist, but she also mentioned that there was a neurosurgeon in the Piedmont Physician's Group that she would like for me to obtain a consult. Of course the Ortho doctor initially ordered PT which did not help me and after 2 months of that, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Gates, for the first time, a doctor actually listened to me. He ordered a nerve study and other test and more x-rays and when I returned for our consultation, he took time, we reviewed the results and he provided a diagnosis and plan of action. Diagnosis, sciatica and my L4 & L5 disc had slipped and was pinching my nerves. At this time I am on a walker. I had gone in less than 6 months from high impact aerobics to living, breathing and with every movement of my body being in horrible pain & only able to be slightly mobile on a walker with no relief regardless as to the strength of the pain medication. So very thankful for the ER's referral to Dr. Gates! He was caring, listened to my concerns and fears and provided me with a comprehensive plan of action that included a foraminotomy procedure that restored my quality of life and removed constant, tingling in my (R) leg and hip and living without constant pain and discomfort. Thank you Dr. Gates for your professional, caring approach to patient care. In my months of care with this physician, he only presented himself as a physician that was 100% dedicated to improving my health! 2 years later and I am still happy and pain free! Praying that you experience the same outcome, GOD BLESSED ME WITH DR. GATES!

HORRIBLE - HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Gwynn. I couldn't even make it out of the office without…read morecrying.. and im not a cryer. He was completely dismissive and condescending, and clearly does not have basic understanding of migraines medically and either doesn't know or doesn't care about how debilitating they are. I've struggled with chronic severe migraines for 5 years and have spent 38k out of pocket going to every specialist I can find and doing every treatment I could to cure myself so I can work again and get my life back. I cant do anything to even live a normal life much less work. My migraines last up to 6 weeks non stop each time, I am unable to drive, or work or go outside or do anything during this time from extreme light sensitivity, blurred vision, and cant think or speak clearly during this time. I only had a brief chat to go over my case with a nurse and then dr Gwynn came in, all he did is prescribe a medication.. no questions or concerns or interest at all in anything about my symptoms or case. He said im 23 yrs and im fine and migraine's are not a disability. Actually im 45 years old and yes they are a disability according to the federal government. Im sorry.. are you saying I look good so I must be good? How should I "look" to be suffering with migraine? This is extremely condescending and demeaning. Did he graduate from neurology or cosmetology school because since when do you determine someones neurological condition and ability based on their outward appearance. I wish I read the other reviews before I went, but at the time I scheduled I was desperate in a migraine and not able to read so I made the mistake of going. I was also lied to at the front desk when making the apt because after going to 10 other specialists and finally realizing I have to have financial help, I specifically made the appointment to find a dr who would be willing to help with my disability paperwork.. not immediately, but at some point as my treatment provider. I was assured in the apt call that he would be willing to do that.. she said there was another dr there that would not, but this one would. I confirmed and was assured multiple times. I was specifically looking for a dr who would work with me on this until I'm cured and can work. Total lie, total fraud to add further insult to injury in all of this. I hope someone sees this, and is able to avoid a traumatic experience. I was self pay so I had to pay $400 out of my pocket when I was lied to just to get me in.

I called the place 4 times and left multiple messages. They finally called me while I was in a…read moremeeting at work. I asked the person if we could speak again in an hour as I couldn't interrupt the meeting. Of course, no one called back. Of course, when I tried calling back, it was only voicemail. I waited a few days before this review thinking that I would get a call back -- perhaps they got busy that day. Well, no call. Horrible customer (non) service.

He's pleasant, thoughtful, funny, and empathetic. Truly, I can't say enough good things about him. Hell, I wish we were friends. He's great. That said, his clinic at Wellstar Paulding closed and he fell off the face of the earth. I've called all the hospitals in the area, including Emory where he did his Residency, thinking maybe they kept up with doctors who went through their program. I've tried it all. I think I finally figured out where he is, but they were so cryptic on the phone and said they couldn't give him a message from me. I just want a referral to a new Neuro, if he's no longer taking patients. Is he? No clue. They closed up shop at Wellstar and didn't give any warning or get me in to see him one last time before he left. I was due for an appt around the time they closed, as I go in regularly. If anyone sees this and knows him or if Dr. Morton sees this, himself, please reach out. (Miss you, Doc! You're the best!) If you're not taking patients anymore, please contact me to point me in the right direction. I'm having a hard time finding a new doctor. If he gets to a clinic where he is taking patients again, I swear to you you'll never regret choosing him as your doctor. He's amazing and I'm so bummed he's not my Neuro anymore.
