A few years ago, I brought my daughter, then 5, to be evaluated for autism. (She'd already been diagnosed adhd, social communication disorder, and sensory processing disorder and her speech therapist recommended she be evaluated.) After a basic one-hour IQ test (where they practically tortured my daughter), they decided she actually had a severe form of DMDD and ODD. When I asked them to explain how they ruled out autism, they told me I needed therapy for my autism obsession. (They hadn't even finished going over their report when another couple walked into the room and they shooed us out. I simply wanted to know the information I had paid them to tell me.)
I took their report to an educational consultant. I was advised to burn it and never show it to anyone again, as the educational consultant said she had never seen a report so negatively biased. Every school that saw it turned us down immediately. So, without that report, just the previous diagnoses, we sent our daughter to a private school specializing in autistic and adhd students, where she flourished. When she was 6, they recommended she be evaluated for dyslexia, so we went to a neuropsychologist who, after 10 hours of testing (not just one), diagnosed her with AUTISM (and dyslexia/adhd). (Also, that additional 9 hours of testing only cost 50% more than what they charged for the single hour.) Then, we decided to go to the public school system for an IEP. They did another 10 hours of testing and found she qualified for an IEP under AUTISM (and dyslexia/adhd). Not even two years after I was told I needed therapy for thinking she might be autistic and I had TWO evaluations saying she was.
So... these people tortured my daughter, made an already difficult time in our life even more difficult, wrote a report that made it harder to get the help we needed, didn't do what I paid them to do, charged a fortune for it, AND got the diagnosis wrong. The only thing they did well was the parent intake meeting that got me to agree to all this. My blood still boils when I think about what they did. I am honestly shocked they are still in business with how horribly they treated us. 0 stars. read more
