My boyfriend actually found Kin at the beginning of this year. We started seeing Kin for couples therapy. I personally was very skeptical about therapy, especially after being unsuccessful in finding a therapist that was for me. We got so lucky, Kin being the first couples therapist we tried. His style of therapy was everything we needed. He never made the sessions feel one-sided. He always made sure to acknowledge both of our feelings but allowed us to understand each other. He gave us the tools to be successful in this relationship. We initially were seeing him every 2 weeks, then turned to 3, and 8 months later, we are finally in a place where we only need to schedule sessions as needed. We love how honest Kin has been throughout our journey. He held us accountable while not making us feel bad. I highly suggest Kin if you are seeking couples therapy :) read more

To me, Kin is both a therapist and a coach. Yes, he's easy to talk to and nonjudgmental which makes him a great therapist but he also has the ability to constructively point things out to me, just like a coach would, so I can learn to become a better person, husband, and father. He has such finesse that his feedback seems very genuine and supportive, and it makes me motivated to want to change. Another expectation you can have with Kin is he'll keep you honest and accountable, again, just like an athletic coach! He keeps it real and simple. For example, he doesn't just tell you to be more patient with your kids or be a better listener to your partner. Instead, he breaks it down for you so you know exactly what your blind spots are and what you need to do to achieve your goals. He keeps things concrete and practical so you won't get lost in the abstract. If you need a therapist, especially regarding your relationship, Kin is definitely the right person. read more

Mental Health is part of our overall health and well-being. As we take care of our body, we should also take care of your mental health. So it is important to find a good competent therapist and I consider Kin as one good competent therapist. I like his style and approach. I learned that he has been doing therapy for more than a decade and his experience is evident by talking to him. I highly recommend Kin as a therapist! read more

The ironic thing about this review is I've never met Kin in person but that the phone interaction was enough to warrant this 5-star review. I initially found Kin on yelp and he seemed like a good fit for my issues. So I called and left him a voicemail about my situation and my insurance status. He called back within 20 minutes and took the time to ask me more in depth questions about me and offered a couple of very good suggestions. Then he explained to me that unfortunately he wouldn't be able to see me because he's an out of network therapist and my insurance wouldn't cover it. In the end, after spending close to 30 minutes on the phone with him, I didn't want to take up more of his time. Rather than just ending it there, he offered to do some research to see if he could recommend someone who could take my insurance. At first I thought it was just lip service but then 2 days later he called back and gave me a number to call. That's when I felt Kin was a really caring person. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment with the place he recommended. Honestly if I financial situation were better I just rather see him because he seemed incredibly helpful and caring as a therapist. read more

Prior to finding Kin, we'd shopped around for therapists for a few months. Finding the right marriage counselor was a crapshoot for us. You don't know what you're getting yourself into until you meet someone face to face. We saw 1 therapist who said no more than than 5 sentences in the intro session. We left without feeling getting anything out of it. Another therapist scheduled us at a 1 o'clock meeting but didn't show up until 10 minutes after, with her latte in 1 hand while laughing with someone on the phone in the other hand. The remainder of the meeting felt more like chit chat than anything professional. Yet there's was another therapist we saw who tried really hard to help. But he seemed more desperate than actually helpful. Last but not least, there's another one we saw who interrupted us so much that I wanted to leave early. After a few failed single sessions and on the brink of giving up, we got a recommendation from a friend for Kin. We'd debated whether we should tell our friend but in the end we decided our marriage was worth more than face saving. Meeting Kin was a breath of fresh air. He was easy to open up to and yet professional. We had thought our problems were insolvable but he offered hope and guidance in such a gentle and reassuring way. After a few sessions with him, we both feel like we're making great strides. It's not to say therapy is easy but we're definitely working better as a unit and we feel more committed than ever. read more

Kin is everything you need in a marriage counselor. He kept us hopeful when my partner and I were so exhausted with our fights and on the brink of giving up. I'd done therapy before but my last therapist was mostly quiet, granted she was very nice and caring. However, Kin is actually very HELPFUL. He made it easy for us to talk about things that we had been avoiding for years. Every time we left his office, we always felt like we had a concrete plan to improve our relationship in incremental ways. Kin has taught us many skills and tools that help us problem solve and become closer. While I don't think there's a perfect therapist, but Kin definitely was the perfect fit for us. read more

Can't believe I'm writing a yelp review for my counseling experience. But I feel the need to do that because my experience with Kin has been nothing short of life changing. Like many families, we have our fair share of marital issues as well as parenting challenges. After a few intense episodes, we decided to reach out for some professional help. I was at first skeptical about looking for a therapist on yelp because it's such a personal thing, but honestly I didn't know where else to turn to for that kind of guidance. When I saw Kin's practice on yelp, I immediately liked what I saw. Many great reviews and the promotion of a first free session. And when I checked out his website, it was apparent that he has a relationship/marriage expertise. It's almost like he's talking directly about our exact same situation. After reading more about his services on his website, I decided to text him for an initial consultation session. He was quick to respond and very personable. Before our first session, I was quite nervous because I had never done therapy of any kind and really didn't know what to expect and we were meeting him virtually. But Kin helped us feel at ease right from the gate. He just has this very calming presence that makes it easy to talk to him about the most personal issues. After taking the time to understand our situation, he gave us some very helpful insight and tangible feedback. He's not shy about feedback but does so in a very caring way like a teacher who's looking out for you. After the first session, my husband and I both felt a tremendous amount of relief and hope. Not only that, both of us couldn't stop talking about the homework that Kin gave us because it really motivated us to want to do better for ourselves and our kids. All in all, even though we've only seen Kin a handful of sessions, our communication has improved, the stress level in the household has gone down dramatically, and most importantly, we feel much closer and more committed to a happier and healthier marriage. read more

Kin is really great! My husband and I have been going to him for a while now. He is so good at what he does and really seems to care for his clients. He has given us excellent advice and taught us skills to help save our marriage. Still a work in progress but absolutely grateful that he has helped us get this far. read more

I found Mr. Kin on Yelp. I called him and he actually picked up, unlike the other 2 counselors that I tried calling and went straight to voicemails. He was patient and very understanding of our situation. So right off the bat, I already felt comfortable with him. In the subsequent sessions, he always has something insightful and interesting to share. He's not the type that just talks and talks with no substance so I feel like I've learned some valuable perspectives each time. I think he is a great therapist and I say that as someone who has seen quite a few therapists over the years read more

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Kin as both a supervisee and colleague for almost 6 years. Through our work together he has provided incredible guidance and support in my professional and personal life. He provides a safe, non judgmental space to allow his clients to process and navigate through life's challenges and our work together helped me grow immensely as a therapist as well as in my personal life. Whether you seek clinical supervision or therapy I am confident that Kin can provide you the support you seek. read more

I have worked with and gotten to know Kin for almost a decade now. He is a caring, professional therapist dedicated to healing work and supporting his clients! read more

Kin is a godsend. I never would have thought therapy would have helped me so much, but I appreciate his directness and his way of synthesizing things I am struggling with. Like another reviewer said, just seeing him a handful of times has made a world of difference. I tried one other therapist before starting with him, so I know there are bad ones out there also. I wish I could say more, but I'm afraid it gets too personal to share more details. Definitely take advantage of his first intro meeting to see if you are a good fit. read more

Kin was an awesome supervisor when I was a Marriage and Family Therapist intern. He was very knowledgeable and was always ready to provide feedback. His non-judgmental way of treating people also made him easy to approach. I highly recommend him as a psychotherapist and/or a supervisor! read more

I've had the opportunity to work closely with Kin as a colleague for a few years now. He's warm, kind, and caring in his work with clients. He's experienced and committed to the craft of psychotherapy. He's also professional and very responsive. Many people call therapists to inquire about starting therapy, but never getting their calls returned. Kin is the opposite of that. He returns calls promptly, and even offers a free in-person consultation session to anyone who might be interested in working with him. I highly recommend reaching out to him if you are in need of a psychotherapist! read more

Having consulted with Kin numerous times over the past seven years, I think what stands out most is his ability to be calm and kind, while still being engaged and curious about the deeper meaning of things. He is passionate about his work and has great follow-through (he is not one of those therapists you'll call and won't get a call back from!). I highly recommend him to anyone seeking support during a difficult time. read more

My wife and I saw Kin for about 6 months and since then our relationship has been solid. I was quite skeptical about therapy at first but my wife wanted to give it a try after we had a few rounds of argument that went nowhere. His website states quite clearly that he sees a lot couples. You wouldn't want to see a foot doctor if your hand is hurting, right? So that's a good sign. I looked up a bunch of therapists and many of them seemed so generic. It felt like they were just checking all the boxes as their specialties. We ended up emailing 4 therapists specialized in couples and Kin returned our email within 2 hours and scheduled us in the next day. I was impressed by that. Well, the next therapist took 3 days to respond back and the other 2 never did. Not only that, Kin offered a half hour free consult to make sure we liked working with him before charging us. That was definitely nice of him. His style is very interactive. He's not the type that sits and nods. Come to think of it, he's like a coach pointing out to us what we needed to work on and making tangible suggestions to ensure that we were not just "talking" which was my initial reluctance towards therapy. I hated the idea that therapy was just talk but Kin showed us it was more than that. To this day, my wife still teases me about being stubborn in the first place about therapy. I'm glad she changed my mind so we could experience this new level of connection and understanding. read more

i was referred to Kin when i was travelling to San Francisco two years ago. I was so hesitate to use his service in the very beginning because i though i was okay. Neither i need a consulting nor therapist of the relationship with my wife. It really did open my mind after the first session with him. After few sessions, I did see there was an improvement on the relationship with my wife. I am now living in Vancouver, Canada and i still receiving consultation with him via Skype. In my opinion, relationship is more like car maintenance. You need to oil change or do service once a while. Some times, you need an outsider to give you a better ideas to service your relationship! Thanks Kin for opening my mind! read more

This is my first Yelp review of anything so bear with me. I found Kin online because I was looking for someone to talk to about my relationship issues. I had never seen a therapist, so the thought of scheduling an appointment was already intimidating enough. I had always had the notion of a therapist sounding cold and serious, but not Kin! Even in our first phone converstaion, he took the time to understand why I was calling and he never seemed rushed to get off the phone. I really felt he understood my problems at the end of our 20 minute phone call. So I went ahead and scheduled an appointment with him and then he told me he would still honor the 30 mintues face to face consultation in our initial session. I was so surprised!! Without spilling my guts out to the whole wide world, I would say, after seeing Kin half a dozen times, I feel my mood and issues have improved quite a lot. He has a very warm way of conveying his insights which often leaves me feeling more confident about myself at the end of each session. Overall I am very happy with my first experience in therapy. read more
