I went out there on a whim: I hadn't made a reservation and it being the week between Christmas and New Year, the place was busy with families and friends gathering. I got a table though...phew. Let me tell you: I had the most exquisite meal. I ordered it all: starter, main, dessert, wine and digestif. It was sooooo good! The Maultaschen were, of course, the highlight! Highly recommend and would make a detour for this place!

I joked to my husband that it looked like the kind of place that you would go to after a day of hunting. We arrive around 5:45 because we didn't have a reservation and we're surprised to be the only ones there. We thought that was odd for a place with such great ratings, well, that changed quickly as within 10 minutes the entire place was full. It felt like being in the middle of a family reunion as the customers and staff seemed to greet each other like they were old friends. That was a key indicator that the food was good, if the locals know the place well it must be great. The entree menu had about 10 plates to choose from which made it easy to narrow down. We ordered the pepper steak and the butter schnitzel. The brown sauce on both was AMAZING and the beef was perfectly cooked. The fried scalloped potatoes were really nice and crispy. We also had some fresh green salad and potato salad that was very good. Even my husband liked the potato salad and he hates them. Service was friendly although not very attentive. The restaurant was pretty full though so maybe that was the reason. We will be coming back to try so more dishes!

I love this place!…read more I went with a group of coworkers and grabbed a big table. We all ordered beers and perused the menu. Beers came, cold and tasty. They brought us one English menu, but the regular menu was pretty understandable. We all ordered different styles of schnitzel. I ordered a regular schnitzel with spaetzle and gravy on the side. Our waiter took all of our orders and we ordered more beers. The restaurant was busy and friendly, lots of people, mostly locals, having a good time. Our food arrived hot and fresh- my schnitzel was perfect- hot and crispy and the spaetzle perfect. I poured the gravy over the entire plate and I was in heaven. We all enjoyed our meal immensely and had a great time. If you're looking for a typical schnitzel in a friendly establishment, this is your place! I will definitely be back!

The Kölsch trays are a good group-table accessory as well. Food is ok. All the schnitzels I've had there are pretty dry, and the mushroom sauce with the Jägerschnitzel overdoes the umami taste while not really re-hydrating the pork. Other food options (I haven't had the Maultaschen, these might be great) are general street-fare quality. If you're near and need food, or want somewhere cheap to start the night, definitely stop in. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of their 'Schwaben' Maultaschen and particularly given that decent price (I think it was EUR7). Most of the staff is a bit young so not too concerned with customer care, but definitely not unfriendly or so. I am quite sure I will return there soon to try some more.
