Kathleen is BACK!!!…read more My search for an LMT that is professional, listened, and knew how to treat the aches/pain/stiffness ended when I found Kathleen years ago. Then she took a break and my journey to find a new LMT was very difficult. If you've had a few bad massages, you know the pain isn't just physical. It can also affect you mentally/physically. I felt like I could get no relief and had to start acupuncture and PT (both are great) but always felt something missing (and my achy neck/shoulders/back is a constant reminder). So I was overjoyed (to tears amidst childlike giddiness) to stumble on Kathleen's reopening of Simple Gifts and in my fave little Old Town EC. Kathleen takes the time to understand your specific needs, comfort level, preferences, and any quirks. She takes the time to get acquainted thus giving you the best massage experience. And when I say that she takes the time, she does NOT take it out of your scheduled massage time! You get the time you booked. No one else has helped me feel so relaxed, sleep better, fall asleep while getting a massage and even have a wonderful emotional experience while being massaged. Pure bliss and enjoyment of letting all that -ish go. You know that knot that you just can't seem to get to and no one else seems to hit it either? Kathleen pinpoints it and all you can do is let out a wonderful sigh of "Ahhhh, that's the spot". The new location is the old Quiet Time Hypnosis, so it is comfortable and quiet in old town EC. So it is across the hall from the previous location if you've been years ago. There isn't heavy scents to cause allergic reactions, excessive oiliness, eccentricity or any of that. It is a cozy, simple, relaxing, and comfortable environment. If you like it warmer or cooler; dimmer/brighter, etc, simply ask. Kathleen is truly an expert and has the most skilled talents to get to the knots and work them out. And she listens!!! I highly recommend Kathleen as she is a truly gifted LMT and wonderful human!

I was looking for commercial location but it ended up being in a residential home. There is only street parking available. I didn't know which doorbell to ring so I rung both until someone opened. The area was clean and well put together. There was only one masseuse so I had to wait until she finished. Communication is really bad. As I was arriving to the location for my scheduled massage, I got a message saying she wouldn't be able to take me until an hour later. I was already at the location so I didn't have much of a choice but to wait. The massage itself was very pleasant! One thing I didn't like is that it kept getting interrupted. She had a young daughter maybe about 2-3 that kept walking in so it wasn't very relaxing. She didn't have a babysitter which I understand it can tough but I wish she would've disclosed that and allowed me to change my appointment to another time. I feel like this would've been a 5 star experience without the interruptions and long wait times, hopefully it was a one time thing!

This was probably the massage that I've ever had (granted, I've only had a couple)…read more I got a groupon for the couples massage. I had a little trouble booking in the beginning because everything is done over Facebook messenger. We had some trouble finding a date that would work, and when I asked if they had any future Saturdays available, I was sent an appointment confirmation for a future Saturday. I was a bit surprised when I was sent an appointment confirmation before I had confirmed the date, but part of this could have been a misunderstanding. However, that specific Saturday did not work for me, so I was fortunately able to reschedule. Also, groupons are required to pay an additional reservation fee. I also screwed up where the massage was actually located. Even though they sent a detailed Facebook message about where the service center was located, the groupon and apple maps linked to their office. I accidentally went to their office instead of the service center. I began freaking out because we were going to be late. We ended showing up 15 minutes late to the service center. I was calling frantically to explain our situation. My boyfriend and I were super stressed, but as soon as we walked in, everyone was calm and understanding. Mel did an amazing job. Instead of massaging my boyfriend and I at the same time, we went one at a time. One of us would sit on the couch and watch while the other was massaged. It was a really cool experience because we could see what Mel was doing, and I was able to take mental notes. Mel ended up going over the time we booked for, and I am very grateful for that. We had a great time chatting with Mel while she massaged us. My boyfriend and I went in extremely tense and stressed, and we left feeling relaxed and calm.

Julie #1 in the Maryland area for me and ranks in the Top 3 of anyone I've used. If I had the choice of getting a massage from any practitioners I know in the Maryland area - I'd choose Julie. She's one of the only massage therapists that's able to put me to sleep as well - and the massage is so great that when I wake every so slightly I say to myself "stay awake - I want to be awake because this feels so amazing"! I leave feeling completely refreshed. By the way - her prices are also amazingly low.

Keisha is one of the kindest, most peaceful people I have met most recently. She puts you at ease if you feel shy/uncomfortable. I had never had a full body massage in a parlor- only ones done by the Asian masseuses in the mall. This is not the same!!! It's one the most relaxing experiences of my life! Her hands were touched by God. She is educated on pressure points and kneading the stress knots in the neck and back. I couldn't have found anyone better than her to help me melt the stress of my job. The area isn't the very best, but it also isn't the most dangerous. There is a front parking lot. I suggest anyone to try their best to find parking there. If not, there is parking on the side street and in the back. The back lot is pretty rocky/unpaved, so the side streets are the next best thing. Besides that, please visit Keisha! She is the best masseuse in the city! You will not be disappointed.
