She was gentle but clear, honest and communicative, thoughtful and kind. The frames are amazing - clearly this is the design haus that Salt had been emulating a decade ago. I really liked this place, the doctor, and his staff. However after my exam, I never received my glasses script in hard copy or by email, though my exam included this. Over the weekend I had experience w the new contacts where wearing them only during the day I got a sore on my eye and patched it so I could see out of one eye, And my glasses old and not my updated prescription, melted in a sauna. I really needed my script so i could safely drive etc. I called first thing which wasn't until 11am when they open and said I needed my script. A woman asked me to email in and I did. Hours went by, I called them back. They said they were busy having a trunk show and would do it when they got a chance. I said it's really urgent and tried to explain. The woman didn't listen and hung up. It's been 1.5 days and I still don't have my script. This is just bad medicine. read more

I liked Dr. Scranton very much. Nice guy and thorough exam for $79. No dilation drops. I want to get several other tests elsewhere, however. A few years ago I got a test four different places. Each place had a different reading. Yesterday, taking this test, the lenses kept getting fogged up due to my required mask. I just don't think it was accurate. I will update this review once I find out if it is inaccurate or accurate (based on averages). There is a woman named Shelia who has gotten a lot of positive reviews. I didn't like her style or appreciate the way she treated me. After nearly 30 years in Georgetown, I would place her amongst the rudest customer service people I have encountered. I had a vegan salad with me that had picked up and, at the top of her lungs, she said, "What is that smell?!"? She knew full well it was my salad. She is just really lacking class, abrupt and borderline rude. As a result, I will not be purchasing glasses at SEE. She was a jerk. Quick to antagonize. No thanks, lady. Literally the exact same thing happened to me as for another commenter. I came into the store to try on frames and found a pair that the saleswoman confirmed would cost $169 for the frames and the lenses. She knew that I would be paying with my insurance and said everything was covered. I decided to think about the purchase and ended up emailing the store a week later to go ahead with the order. I received a phone call later that day asking if I wanted an anti-blue glare coating for another $50. I said sure. Today, when I picked up my glasses and asked for the final total, I was told it would be $497. I was literally stunned speechless. Apparently, if you pay with insurance, SEE will charge you $169 for the frames alone. The standard cost for lenses is another $99 (which I was not informed of), but, lucky for me, the store kindly decided to upgrade me to high index lenses for $169 - without asking me. Then it turned out that the anti-blue glare coating was actually $149: Apparently the saleswoman was asking me if I wanted to upgrade the additional $99 anti-glare coating I didn't know I was already getting and paying for. The saleswoman offered to redo the glasses without the bells and whistles (so regular polycarbonate lenses and standard anti-glare), which would have saved me $120, meaning that the glasses would still have cost more than double the original marked price. Since I am extremely fortunate and my insurance is covering all of it (actually, the saleswoman managed to come within $3 of my total eyecare benefit, funny how that happened), I am probably not going to bother to redo the lenses. But I am definitely never coming back to this eyeglass shop. What a racket. read more

I'm a gal that likes a little pizzazz to my spectacles; so when I saw what SEE had to offer I was intrigued. Unfortunately, they are somewhat lacking in customer service. I walked in stood around and was ignored so I went all the way to the back of the shop where the doctor was sitting(playing on his phone, I might add) and NO ONE, NOT ONE PERSON stopped me to ask me if I needed. help. Once I got the doctors attention and told him I was here for my appointment, he sat me down to examine my eyes. It wasn't that great of an appointment and he really didn't listen to my concerns that much. He just finished my exam and shipped me out onto the showroom with Rx in hand to purchase my glasses. Thanks Doc! The person I was working with to pick my glasses was pleasant enough. I think they have a great selection of unique frames and they are pretty reasonably priced. From what I understand they are all designed by SEE, so you won't fine Ralph Lauren or Donna Karen frames here, but that was okay by me, as long as they are well made(which it seems they are) I'm fine with that. Any-hoovers, I picked out two funky frames,made my purchase(they gave me 1/2 off the second pair) and was on my merry way. Because of my love for these frames, this is the ONLY reason they got that third star. Did I have a mind-blowing experience. Nope, not even close. Will I return, possibly will, but I will more than likely just bring my Rx from another doctor and just purchase my frames there. read more

I really don't like driving into Georgetown. In fact, I avoid Georgetown like a plague. But I knew a visit was bound to happen because when it was time to purchase new Rx glasses, it was going to be from SEE. I blame a girl I know who owns two of the most stylish glasses I have ever seen. When she told me both were from SEE, I was hooked. Bellini helped me that early afternoon and I thank her for being very patient and understanding with this indecisive person. 'Cause, man, I can be very indecisive. I went through so many styles and sizes. Whittled it down to two choices and just couldn't make up my mind. She offered to take photos of me wearing the glasses, with the lens and without. That turned out be a helpful gesture. While SEE didn't accept my insurance, I was still given a nice discount. Thankfully, I was able to purchase the new glasses with my FSA debit card. Also, Bellini laughed when I told her I had no plans of coming to pick up the glasses. So, it was shipped to my home instead for an additional $10. Fine by me. The glasses arrived a couple of days ago and it's already a hit with my family and friends. It fitted my face a bit too loosely so I just went to a local eye place to have it tightened. My mother needed to get her glasses fixed so we stopped by SEE while in Georgetown. The sign said appointment only but we knocked and a nice lady opened the door and took one look at the glasses and said she could easily fix them. My mother came back 5 minutes later with her glasses fixed. Since it was such an easy fix, we were not charged. I will absolutely be bringing my business to this store because of the fantastic customer service and kind employees. I have a big collection of sunglasses from a lot of different merchants and brands locally and online, but "See" on Wisconsin Avenue is definitely the best single location to shop for its overall combination of quality, modern styles, price and customer service. All of the sunglasses are $99, for modern sunglasses that cost several times that amount with a designer label on them. The last time I was there a week ago I purchased three pairs of sunglasses for less than what I have paid for one pair at other shops. I've received comments on all three of them, and it was a great shopping experience. The stylist who helped me pick them out, Jasmine O'Neill, had perfect recommendations and was honest about what worked and what didn't. One BIG shout out for the store employee, Ms Sheila! I found the cutest glasses in another store and did not pick them up when I had a chance. I went to this store to try to purchase them and they were sold out. I was really disappointed! Shelia promised she would find them for me from another store and she called me within the hour. I asked for them to be shipped and she sent the tracking number and I received them within a week. The store was crazy busy but Sheila made me a priority. As Beyoncé said in Formation - stylin'! I have a difficult time picking sunglasses because I don't like the way most of them look on my face. My husband has been a regular customer of See for many years, starting in Chicago. I have been a regular customer of Ray-Ban for many years. I switched loyalties after my husband's latest purchase at See. You see See, he was straight up emanating sex appeal after his latest shades. We went on a weekday afternoon when it was relatively quiet. Excellent customer service from start to finish. All styles are produced in batches of 100 and distributed across their stores. Once they are gone, they are gone. It is very unusual to find another person wearing the same sunglasses as you...unlike the cookie cutter Ray-Bans or those mass-produced-for-hipsters Warby Parker glasses. I walked out with a fab pair of sunglasses. I can now ogle at all the hot guys without them knowing I am checking them out. Get yourself a pair for styling and ogling. read more

Overall had a pretty good experience here and would come back because the frames are really cool, just a few caveats. First, Laquita helped me find frames and she was really awesome. Super helpful and friendly and really listened to what I wanted. Then I placed my order with her the next day over the phone and again she was awesome. I highly recommend seeing Laquita!! Now caveats: I think they kind of nickel and dime you on the lenses. For instance, $99 for anti glare coating seemed pretty ridiculous to me; I could be wrong but given that most of us are on computers or phones all day this needs to be standard. Also the young guy working on the weekend when I picked up my glasses was friendly but seemed to have no clue what he was doing when it came to fitting my frames. I'm handy with my glasses so I tweaked them on my own later, but he kept handing them back to me with the arms comically loose/wide out to the sides. It was weird. read more

Horrible customer service!! Disappointing experience! My boyfriend broke his glasses leaving him practically blind so we looked up his service provider which brought us to See. What an awful experience. When we entered See we receive no welcome. We approached a gentleman seated around a table who ungraciously signed us in. When the eye exam began we were both surprised by the doctor's condescending tone and demeanor. He proceeded to pepper the exam with eye pokes and exasperation upon discovery of my boyfriend's poor eyesight. When my boyfriend's optical torture finally ended, the real show began. We were invited to look around the store for a pair of glasses. We began our search among a haystack of undesirable, ill fitting and bland frames without any help from the attendants who were busy chatting around their desk. When waiting politely brought no attention to our quest, I asked the female attendant for assistance. From the minute the female attendant came over she was nasty. I asked her to help us find frames because we were having difficulty. When she brought over some frames that I didn't like her bad attitude came to light. She asked to see my boyfriend's old pair then snarky-ly asked if I preferred his old pair. I was so taken aback! When she finally left the male assistant took her place. My boyfriend asked him if he could help us find something because most of the frames look the same. The male attendant replied "Really? We have literally have thousands". He walked away after providing that "helpful" statement. We walked out of See soon after never to return. We won't be seeing "See" anytime in the expected future. read more

I was really excited to go to a place that had cute frames. I was so used to going to places where my insurance only covered the ugly frames, so it was a huge change of pace. I rarely wore glasses out because I hated the way they looked on me, but I needed relief from wearing contacts. Off to See I went. The male receptionist who worked there is very cool, and for the most part service was quick and efficient. I found a pair I'd actually wear out of the house and was happy. Where my rating goes down is with what happened afterwards. My appointment was on a Thursday (3/13), and I was promised my frames on the following Wednesday. I never got a call from them about it, so I called myself and got "We'll call you when they're ready" as a response. Two weeks since my appointment, I still hadn't heard about my glasses, and inquired about them when I went to get my contacts looked at. I was told they were shipped out and would be in that weekend (3/29). Since I didn't receive a phone call again, I called back and got the "we'll call you when they're ready" response. This is going on three weeks sans glasses. Twenty-one days later, my glasses finally arrive. I go to get them, and they seem good at first, but I notice that things I had no problem seeing with my old glasses (middle-distance objects) were blurry. A calendar on a back wall I normally had no problems seeing had a slight halo effect on it. I switched between my old pair and my new See pair, and my old pair's definitely stronger. New glasses should be of equal or stronger strength than old ones, so it made no sense to me. I'll be going again to figure out the problem, but I'm just disappointed with how things went down. The people there are nice, but waiting three weeks for a pair of glasses that I am struggling to see out of is disappointing. I'll stick with my good ol' non-trendy eye doctor in the future. ETA: The new glasses prescription was weaker than my old pair. It's partially my fault because when I went to the initial appointment I came with contacts and they used that for the basis of my prescription. (Note to readers: Bring your glasses with you for an accurate glasses prescription, and contacts when you're getting contacts!) He thought the prescription was too strong and weakened it, which was unnoticeable with the contacts but too obvious with glasses. They told me to wait a few more days and see how things turn out, and that they'd replace my lenses if they didn't get better over the weekend. I'll round my rating to a 3.5---they're friendly and cooperative, but I'm still not happy about a three-week wait for the frames. read more

Customer service and frames that are perfect are worth a little extra! Brandi and Allie (sorry if I misspelled your names!) took the time to adjust my frames to look perfectly even on my face and hook slightly around my ears so my kid can't pull them off easily. I have never had anyone do this thorough of an adjustment for me, after years of wearing glasses. I am blown away by the fit. The selection of glasses is great; there's something for everyone. Store is little and fairly crowded but they have a bunch of staff members; getting attention from the employees was not a problem. I came under the impression that the glasses came with the frames and the lenses for the indicated price, which is true. However, my eye sight is pretty bad and apparently because of the significant prescription of my lenses it increase the cost of my glasses from $289 to a whooping $604. "Hip without the rip" my ass. I doubt I'll come back here to buy glasses. Bottom line: Buy the frames, forget the lenses. read more

They will also directly bill most vision insurance plans. Result. Everyone is right about Sheila--she is amazing! I have had basically an eyeglasses nightmare over the last month. I chose frames at Warby Parker in NYC Memorial Day weekend for a new prescription. There were many issues with Warby including the fact that they measured my pupillary distance incorrectly. I went to an eyeglasses store in Bethesda and one in Friendship Heights yesterday and wanted to check out Georgetown Optician just to compare my options. On my way there today, I spotted See and walked in just for the heck of it. Before walking out, I spotted one last shelf of new frames and immediately fell in love.
