Guess this isn't so secret anymore :-) Very safe and peaceful lagoon to snorkel in with lots of fish and an occasional sea turtle or seal sighting. Parking is tough here as the only official parking lot is small. Thankfully we were staying close by and was able to walk here. The lagoon has lots of tropical fish and is fairly shallow where you can stand in most of the spots. Decent amount of beach sand area to lay out your towels and catch some sun. read more

We spent our last day with coming here to catch a glimpse of green turtles and possibly the Hawaiian monk seal. Prior to walking over from the Marriott I did my homework on social media regarding the route. Many said the lagoon was nestled between Disney Aulani and the Four Seasons. Wrong. It's actually between the Lanikuhonua Institute and Paradise Cove Luau. We were walking along the public promenade adjacent to the public access lagoons. Came to a dead end by the Four Seasons resort property. I asked a stranger was he looking for the Secret Beach. It turned out he's a local. He gave me very good directions. That's how we found the Secret Beach. Once we were there we saw two Hawaiian monk seals beached. With a sign posted - keep 10 foot distance. As for turtles I spotted one in the lagoon swimming. It didn't come ashore. This was about 10:30am. There were plenty of folks in the water. So maybe we were the only ones who were challenged in locating the beach. If it weren't for the seals I thought the beach wasn't as enticing as the the area by the resorts. This is a very small footprint. Here there's no public restrooms. And for trash receptacles there are three heavy duty plastic trash bags taped to the the metal chain fence near the beach entrance. Interested in going? If you're on foot coming from the Marriott - walk on Ali'i Nui Dr past the Aulani entrance driveway and the four way street signal lights. Keep walking on the main drag until you see a small parking lot on the left. Make a left and head up to the parking lot. Walk toward Paradise Cove Luau. You'll see a very small entrance. Walk through the entrance and voila. You've arrived. read more

Great beach to come and relax on the Westside of Oahu. Nice little cove good for kids, snorkeling, or catching some rays. On this visit, we got to see TWO of Hawaii's endangered species- The Hawaiian Green Sea Turttle and the Hawaiian Monk Seal. If you ever come across them, please respect them and keep your distance. It's nearly impossible to park because the lot only has about 8 spaces and all the surrounding parking lots are saved for the Paradise Cove Luau. They even have a security guard that sits at the entrance to the lots. The beach itself is comfortable and attractive but not so secret. The day we went there were plenty of families. read more

Hawai'i has some amazingly beautiful beaches and Secret Beach or, properly known as, Lanikohonua Beach is one of the prettiest. It is a public beach (whereas the rest of Ko'olina was built inward and dredged as a private beach) so all people are welcome and Ko'olina nor the Four Seasons is legally allowed to restrict access to the public. You access the beach easily from Four Seasons Resort, whether by passing through their gate or walking along the beach front pathway. It's a little rocky going down and leads to a small area of sand and water. You can see plenty small fish and cute little crabs all around the rocks and water. This beach is also frequented by Monk Seals where they come to rest. If you do see one or are approached by one, you are required by state law to disperse and distance yourself by 50 ft ($500 fine). If you are not sure how far that is, use the "Rule of Thumb" - which states that if you stick your thumb out and cover one eye, you should be able to cover the Monk Seal with your thumb. Please respect the animals and give them their space. It's an absolutely beautiful spot. If you are a tourist - please be extra courteous to the land and residents of Hawai'i. read more

No beach really. Mostly rocks. A slog of a walk to get to. Nothing to see. Yiu can't swim. Better to stay at the lagoons

This spot is a WINNER! It's hidden behind the resort area and requires a walk, after praying that you get parking at the small lot. There is a natural pool that leads up to the beach that you can snorkel through on your way. It was lots of sea life. Then the beach is picturesque with lots of room and great snorkeling throughout the little protected pool area. We saw sea turtles, lots of fish, an eel, and I even spotted an octopus hidden in one of the rocks! This is a great place for kids to learn to snorkel because it's protected by the natural sea walls and there's so much sea life to explore! read more

Keep it local...I've been there to see how tourists have no regard for the Hawaiian monk seals and honus....to the point where I saw a family (mother and 2 young sons) approached the Hawaiian monk seal too close and the 2 little boys almost got attacked. It's no secret anymore. This beach is not a part of the Four Seasons Resort nor Paradise Cove. It's a small sliver of beach that is actually considered public property. I bring my daughter every weekend to Ko'olina. The beach or lagoon we visit is dependent on which parking lot we get parking. If we ever park in Lagoon 1 (Kohola), we will normally checkout Secret Beach. Typically my daughter would prefer the regular lagoon because the water can be choppy sometimes. However, I love Secret Beach best when it's empty. Luckily for us, there was just one other group of locals fishing. While my daughter and I were chilling, a handful of tourists walked the beach, but that's it. It really felt as if Secret Beach was kept intimately for the people who call Hawai'i home. Secret Beach itself is actually rather small. It's contains a lot of smoothed/slippery rocks that limit the actual size of the beach. Of course, you can also swim over the rocks. Nonetheless, it's a nice change of pace from the packed lagoons of tourists. Access: We normally access Secret Beach from the Four Seasons Resort entrance. They actually have a dedicated gate leading you off property. They also have signage informing you that you are leaving private property. The beach name was very alluring because we didn't want to be around a bunch of tourists. And that's so difficult to do for the beautiful spots. However, we found out very quickly that this beach really isn't a secret at all, because of the large hotels flanking the beach - there are tons of people and their little kids here. Also, in looking at the beach, there appears to be only one third of the beach for regular visitors and the other two thirds for the two hotels. But Isn't it everyone's beach? Isn't it the people of Hawaii's beach? Perhaps IZ should sing Hawaii 78' on this beach to remind the hotel owners. I hate to review places hat I feel are my great escape! However, since this awesome little beach is no longer much of a "secret" I will just tell it like it is..... A great little sheltered cove that has turtles and locals with a small group of straggling tourists that wonder in from Paradise Cove. There is no shelter from the sun so beach goers beware! Coming here also is a challenge if you are not early to grab one of the limited free public parking spots next to the massive and usually empty private parking lots near the hotels. The mellow and tranquil setting of sand, beach and gentle surf makes the journey around the rocks or thru the vegetation to this little stretch of paradise worth the trek through the natural barriers that kept this sweet beach semi secret for years.... Outside beach showers & bathrooms are next door at the Disney Hotel Aulani pathway. Bring your beach towel, chair and umbrella and enjoy a relaxing day in the sun. But not when I'm there please! Secret Beach is not so much of a secret if you're reading my Yelp review, but it's still a secret to most visitors to the island. This is because it is a very secluded stretch of beach that is shielded from street view by several luxury resorts. Those willing to take the drive from town and a short trek beyond the Ko'olina Lagoons will be in for a treat. Visiting Secret Beach was one of the main highlights of my day traveling down the Waianae Coast to Kapolei. It offers one of the most secluded, romantic, and beautiful ocean views on Oahu. It's no wonder that so many resorts and Paradise Cove luau are based along this beach. Although there are signs stating that certain areas are only for resort guests, beyond those points artificially created by the resorts for their guests, all beaches in Hawaii are open to the public. That's right. You don't need to pay exorbitant prices to stay at Four Seasons or Aulani to enjoy the natural beauty of Hawaii. We were the only ones on the beach for some time until a wedding party of four people had their small and intimate ceremony on the beach. Secret Beach really is the perfect place for couples wanting an inexpensive and causal wedding ceremony. With a beach like this, every photo is bound to look stunning without having to pay for a professional photographer. If you buy a Paradise Cove luau package, you'll be further along north of Secret Beach with a similar view and plenty of photo opportunities during sunset prior to the show. read more

The secret is out...but it's not a bad thing. Tucked away between Paradise Cove, Four Seasons and Aulani finding parking in the public lot is key. 13 spots if I counted correctly. If you come on the weekends you might have to wait for a spot, but it's worth it... Think saltwater lagoon/pool attached to the ocean. Get lucky and see turtles, fish, etc. Great for kids and has very calm water. If you're looking to surf, look elsewhere, but if light scuba diving and relaxing is your thing this is your place. Really like the Ko'Olina area so if you haven't checked it out yet you should! (Just don't take my parking space) read more

#24 for 2020 The secret is out. Coming to Kapolei if you needed to get away from the crowd, there was Secret Beach. Or what I called Beach Zero. You parked in the same lot as Lagoon 1 or if you were inclined and didn't mind, the Auulani parking lot. Most of the time the water is choppy with strong currents. Then there are times when it calm, smooth as glass. On occasion there can be a monk seal, and one time we even saw a turtle. Those are rare occurrences. Go there often enough you may get lucky. I often came here for walks and when I finished it was nice treat to sit here to watch the sun go down. Quietly. Now, the entrance is blocked from the hotel grounds. People have found a way to get in other than but we've decided to stay away now that it is enforced. read more

Limited parking stalls. The lagoon is nice cause the waves come in more than the other lagoons so the water feels cleaner. Saw several honu, had to educate some tourist to stay back from honu literally they were right on top of the honu. Had shade so no need bring umbrella. Snorkeling is ok too. We live Kapolei and took Uber to secret beach so didn't have to deal with parking. read more

Beach spot is perfect for kids and ohana. But the parking situation is not like before. Its way more strict , they added "special parking " for "compact cars only". The security guard lady with the tita bun and sunglasses that sits at the gate by the parking lot, tattle taled on me for parking in the compact car spot. I have a 4runner but i fit perfectly between the lines and was not sticking out . Mind you i was waiting almost an hour for a spot , so when a spot opened up I took it! I unloaded my things with my kids and she got off her chair just to stare at me & never say anything. She just called the tow truck company. There was a smaller vehicle that was already parked in the other spot before I got there too. But she only like call when i parked. Long story short , an uncle came up to me when i was already in the water and told me a tow truck was hooking up my vehicle. I booked it and told da guy I can move it. He dropped my truck and towed the small vehicle in the compact stall beside me . This beach never use to have this kind special parking before. It's more strict now. Before use to just park and go. But it's way too small the lot. I won't be coming here anymore as well as some other people I know , because of this incident. People who were waiting in line to park even started turning around and leaving after seeing the guy towing the small car from the spot. So disappointing. I guess the security lady is so bored with her job just sitting around all day that she has to ruin other people's day for some action. read more

We found this place after being told about it by after talking for who wanted to do a family photo shoot there. It's a little bit off the beaten path, but no one there early in the morning with the lighting is just right and the waves around we come, it was absolutely perfect! The walk starts just off the lagoon by the four seasons. There's a small beach pathway (pretty rocky and relatively uneven footing) that leads out in front of the resort. Following that rocky beach down about a quarter of a mile you come to this separate lagoon. It appears that you can actually get to it from the four seasons property as well, but it didn't seem that very many people were coming down there. We came down at about 7:30 in the morning and the place was absolutely spectacular. Lots of little tidepools, a nice beach to run around on and plenty of shade which made for some good pictures and keeping everyone cool! The rocks are a bit on the sharp side so bringing sandals or shoes is probably a good idea. Great spot for a private picnic, photo session or just a nice walk! read more

Perfect place for a nice sunset but a little hard to get to since the Four Seasons put up a gate. We were able to circumvent the gate and was able to hold our wedding there to capture the ambience and quiet beach. Our Officiant, Rev Kimo Taylor was the one that recommended this place since we were staying at the AuLani Resort. I would recommend our officiant if you want a true Hawaiian Wedding. Also I would recommend Kay Salera for your photography needs. As you will see from here website and photo we uploaded she captured the amazing scenery and lighting. It does get a little busy at sunset time, so it best to get there a little early to stake out the best part of the beach. read more

I was on a quest to see sea turtle during my stay on the island, so this is a no-brainer why I took the advice of the hotel staff. Secret Beach as the name suggest is not that crowded and if you are on such similar quest, you won't be disappointed. Secret Beach is adjacent to Four Season Hotel and Resort. It is a nice place to visit. You definitely can see turtle and if you are a rookie and wear a light green swimming trunk, you will attract lots of turtle because they think that you are an alga and the turtles keep following you. read more

Secret beach isn't a secret any more since every one whom stay at Aulani, Four Season, Mariot Time share all know about it along with people that rent the condos in the resort. Anyway it's the only beach that allow you to have a pop up tent, umbrella ect...& it is frequently visited by turtles and occasionally seal monk . Down side there is very limited parking spaces but if lucky you can park in one out of the four lagoons and walk up through the trail. It's a small lagoon that you can snorkel & have kids swim safely without any huge waves. It's a must place for you to come and visit just once because it's very peaceful, relaxing without the feel of commercialize like Waikiki. read more

This is a hidden gem behind Paradise Cove. There are a few public beach access parking spots (literally a few) that you can score if you get here before 9am, or if you are lucky to arrive when someone is leaving. At low tide there are tide pools - although there is not a ton of wildlife in it, there are a few critters for kids to hunt. The beach is a quiet cove where kids can swim safely and the beach is clean. We'll be back to try to find turtles next time....! read more

Great place to bring your keikis. Lots of tide pools and if you're lucky, you may see a turtle and seal. Please remember to be respectful though. You have to remain at a safe distance. This beach is never too crowded since it has limited parking. Weekdays are the best time to come. You can walk out pretty far and it still remains shallow. read more

From my trip last week.This is a secret beach, not a lot of people come here. Is walking distance from Aulani Resort and Four Seasons. We didn't see turtles both times we went but definitely enjoyed swimming. We were told that the best time to see turtles was from 4-6pm, by to rocky side. We had sea lions approach to rest but left because locals said there were too many people on the sand. This beach is super clean and the water is clear you can see fish without going under water or snorkel too. read more

Probably the best beach on the West side especially for babies and families. I'm in love with this spot I'm so glad I found it. I took my babies and they had a blast in the tide pools and along the shore. No waves made it perfect for my 2 year old. Next time I'm gonna have a day to myself and go back to snorkel. read more

There is hardly ever anyone here, hence the name Secret Beach! It is nice to getaway from the crowded coves of Ko Olina and escape to this little sandy oasis with great views of the west side mountains! I am a photographer and love taking couples and families here! I highly recommend! Just follow the "beach access" path in front of the Four Seasons lagoon! read more
