The only, very small, letdown was that the Crystal Steam Room was out of order. My mum also booked is for a massage afterwards, as recommended by the staff. From start to finish the experience was wonderful, the staff friendly and professional, and, with the exception of one very loud patron who's volume control was our of order, very relaxing. After our massage we were lead to the Drift Away room, complete with tea, loungers and beds! Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that our tummies were growling we could have stayed there all day! Also or would have been nice to have our complimentary Prosecco there, whilst lounging in our robes, rather than having to get ready and have it in the reception area afterwards.

But the last few times I've been have been a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. Sometimes the underwater jets wouldn't work, then it would be the massage jets were off or on one occasion the steam-room wasn't working. There wasn't a single day I was there in a six week period that there wasn't at least one major piece of the Thermal experience which wasn't working. Then there is the small things. The keypad locks on the lockers have never worked right and once I even had to ring reception and ask them to send someone down as it had locked away my clothes and refused to open. Not a very relaxing experience as you stand dripping in your towel. And on my last visit the one and only hair-dryer in the men's dressing room was broken. Minor issues, but for a place which charges £65 for a single days access to the thermal experience you expect everything to be perfect. Our membership also included access to the gym which I wasn't impressed by. The free weights available are minimal with the heaviest dumbbell being only 10kg. There are a few cardio machines and a few weight machines such as a chest press, again with very low maximum weight (40kg). It is incredibly small, but as you're likely to be the only person in there it probably won't matter. The thermal experience used to be superb, and I really hope it sorts out the issues in the future. But for me it simply isn't worth the (reduced) membership fee anymore.

The massages are good- rather on the efficient than luxurious side, but they have a good range of approaches, as well as having excellent cosmetic advisers. The best thing about this spa is the ambiance: soft lighting, discreet rooms, a sense of well-being is immediately conjured upon entry. It is usually easy to book for a session on the same day, and the staff are more than willing to give great advice.

Dow offers a wide range of massage types from thai aroma oil massage to traditional thai 'stretching' massage. She has loads of experience and trained at one of the top massage schools in Thailand. A visit to Dow is always a tonic. Not only does she totally chill me out she has also made a huge improvement in the back aches and tension that have plagued me for years. I cannot recommend her enough. At the new clinic Dow will have another Thai Massage therapist so if you fancy going for a massage with your partner or mates then she can book you in at the same time. A friendly welcome helped us feel immediately at home and soon our hands were being treated to an exfoliation and moisturising treatment followed by a file and polish all using top quality products. While our nails dried we relaxed and enjoyed an unhurried glass of fizz. Everyone is so friendly and attentive and the surroundings are suitably classy exuding chill- inducing vibes that make you feel special, which is exactly what you want from a spa. I usually go to Karada Massage in High Street but I fear they may have closed down :( I could not access their website or phone them. *sob* So I needed a back up fast. I read on this here Yelp that WH were pretty good & also a friend of mine recommended them. I was so in need of relief (steady!) I phoned & made an appointment for that day. Got one luckily no bother. Brilliant. I wasn't sure exactly what type of massage to get (as they really do so many various kinds) so I explained to the nice lady on the phone & she said I could discuss my requirements on arrival with my therapist. My therapist was Isabel and she was very nice indeed. I explained to her my pain & she asked a few (relevant) questions & then said she would cater the massage to my needs ~ this being a back, shoulder, neck & face/head massage. Lovely job. I could not wait. My massage was for an hour and it was so so good. A wee bit sore at times but it was necessary as I was really knotted up & as tense as a very tense thing (apparently). She was very thorough and she did indeed massage all parts necessary, including my face which was so nice BUT as I didn't know I was getting a facial I had on my usual make-up which by the end of the massage, of course, ended up smudged all over my face! Ha ha! Oh dear...luckily they have a wee bathroom (with lovely smelling hand soap!) you can 'fix' yourself in after or else I would've scared the people of Woodlands with my mental clown face. Again. Doh. My particular massage treatment was £40 which you might think is a bit steep but for how much it helped me & how well it was catered to my needs I thought it was fair. Their website has a handy price-list so you can check how much your treatment should be before you go and check at what days/times they are available. Isabel recommended I come again in 2 weeks time (Yes, it was THAT bad!) and I did and again it was brilliant. She suggested monthly massages to me & I am actually really up for it as I am one of these people that really needs a good massage regularly. If only I was richer! Another really good thing about WH is that they stay open late on a Wednesday (and other evenings too), until 8pm I believe. This is great if you work 9-5pm. I also like the wee shop they have in here ~ lots of vitamins & herbal treatments/goodies, food/snack things & other stuffs. I just love the smell of this place as soon as you walk in...Mmmm! Herbs!

In a few sessions my discomfort is largely gone and my shoulder feels it's best for years! Already booked my mother in for sessions and would heartily recommend. She knows her stuff.
