Signed up for an appointment to sell women's clothing. On the sign-up it stated "women's winter clothing (NWT Winter and designer only)." As soon as I place the bin on the counter the women immediately asked me if it's all NWT. I said it's a mix of NWT & designer. And she rudely responded "we're only accepting NWT. Did you bother to read the instructions when signing up?" After I explained to her I did and that this bin is NWT & designer. She checked on her computer for confirmation from manger. (Found it strange she checked with the manger on computer & not on phone). After a few minutes she says they're not accepting any women's clothing. So it went from her telling me only NWT to none in a matter of 10 minutes. If you're not accepting women's clothing then take it off your sign-up instead of wasting my time & gas. read more

I would always take items to the Eastpointe location, and I would get a really good price. The last time I had an appointment there, I'm thinking it was Adrienne, told me I missed my appointment time. I went there at 3:30 as was the appointment time, and I was informed that the slot time was FACEBOOK time!!! WTH is FB time??!! I took 2 designer purses and a few other things new with tags, and I got a measly $35.00!!! Not worth my time and effort! read more

Condescending. I've shopped at the Eastpointe store for over 8 yrs. I've never consigned with them, but with others, decided because I'd always enjoyed my shopping experiences with all of their locations, I decided to request to consign, never again, "prints don't sell", yet I've gone through the racks finding all types of prints. I told them I come all the way from Port Huron to continue to shop, I was literally told "I wouldn't make a special trip to come out here if I were you." Discouraging customers from shopping? I have bragged about this previously thought to be a wonderful establishment to others in the area consistently for 8 years, hmmm not anymore. I get policies, but to be belittled, spoken to in a high pitched tone in public earshot? Inappropriate and a very poor business model. What can I say I'm an avid thrifter and a huge Costco fan. These stores are filled with Costco returns. Oh my people wake up buy a Costco membership and don't buy it here. First of all many items cost more at this store than Costco. They are returns so you are taking a chance. Secondly the staff is rude they always ask like you are bothering them . When you go to a second hand store you are looking to save money on making a purchase. Yes This store has a lot of merchandise and most of it is not marked at second-hand prices. I'm not sure what their concept is but I've been in this place three times in two years trying to buy something and at this point I just don't understand why everything is priced so expensive. If I wanted to pay the same price as Walmart I would have gone to Walmart, because the tag from Walmart is still on the item and you put your tag on right next to it showing that you are only discounting the item $0.50? I don't know if this store checks prices online or even at other stores because their prices always seem as high as the regular retail stores for new items. spending $7 on a very used fake designer purse is really not a logical, if that purse is used it should be marked at a reasonable price. I don't know what else to say other than the truth. I recently became a customer of second glance and I will definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get a bargain or to consign any gently used items. All of the ladies in the front (at the consignment counter and checkout) are friendly and have been happy to answer any questions or offer help to find something. Absolutely do not go to the store I came in there to sell a few items and the lady Adrienne it smells like some of the clothes haven't completely dried and I have brand new items in there as well and she (Adrienne) was very snobby and rude and if you're trying to sell clothes or anything I highly would recommend not go here. They're extremely rude people especially and in particular Adrienne They banned me from the store AFTER this review, It's all because I left my honest review. She (Adrienne, which is the one that was very rude to me to begin with) stated that instead of me leaving the review, I could have handled it better. Ummm I'm sorry but YOU'RE the employee YOU'RE the one who's supposed to handle the situation better. I did not scream. I did not get upset BUT because of the way that I was TREATED I wrote a review of how I felt I was treated and yes I did explain that to them at the store but in a calm manner. Staff was okay. I purchased one item. during the process of taking my debit card and giving me a receipt the cashier decided to sanitize her hands during this exchange. So when she gave me the receipt to sign with an ink pen ,both ( ink pen & paper) were wet with sanitizer left over from her cleaning her hands! Ugh! Didn't understand why she could not have waited until after the transaction . She cleaned her hands, but then my felt dirty ! Not proper etiquette lady. read more

I went into this store to buy a TV that I had seen a week prior. I learned that the screen had a defect on the lower left side, where it was dark (no picture). I was talking to one of the owners of the store, and was able to work out a deal with him for less on the price if I paid cash. I still was hoping that I wasn't a big mistake. I had several other items in the cart when I was at the counter. One of the items was a backpack that was damaged, and soiled. I asked the woman at the counter if I could get a small discount on it. This must have pissed her off, because she started getting rude, and asking me to step out of the way so she could ring up the customer behind me( who had one $5 item). I asked her why she was getting so hostile, especially since I was about so spend a large amount of money in her store. She got loud and aggressive, and told me she refused to sell me anything, then said " get outta my store" ! before I could get out the door, she screamed "call the police" ! I could not believe what I was seeing ! Maybe this was "Punked" but it wasn't, it was just an angry , greedy , crazy woman, who was mad that her husband gave a customer a good deal ! I got my money back, and promised myself to NEVER, EVER GO BACK TO THAT STORE AGAIN ! Also, beware if you go to this store to buy a TV. I learned that you can't get a warranty because they are third party dealers, you cannot get an original receipt. If anything goes wrong, you are stuck. A week later , I found a great buy on Walmart online. I bought a 46" RCA 1080p TV for $418. I have the manufacturer warranty and an extended warranty. This was an increadable deal, much better than Second Glance. I believe that there were forces at work to prevent me from buying the damaged TV, and everything worked out better for me. read more

Great place to shop they carry everything you can think of, if you need it they seem to have it. Clean place with nice people and I've always walk away with a great deal. I've read some of the other reviews and can't see where there coming from but then again you can please everyone. read more

They sell EXPIRED food/CHIPS- DO NOT BUY ANYTHING EDIBLE THERE. When I complained about it, the manager was rude, claiming there was a sign that said the chips were expired (which I did not see, if it was there), and got heated with me, followed me to the door to harass me. Then a man, don't know if he worked there or was a customer, proceeded to follow me to my car in the parking lot, harassing me while holding my child in my arms. Yeah, real classy place. read more

I am so disappointed in Second Glance Resale Shop. A set of stools were posted 24 hours ago. Today you posted that EVERYTHING is 25% off. I went to the GP store to find out if these were still available. I was told that they were available and would be 25% off today. When I went to the Eastpointe location I was told these stools had been pulled off the floor and are not eligible for 25% off. Very disappointed. I've purchased several large purchases from this store. However, in my attempt to purchase another large ticket item, I was talked to very rudely by one of the white male employees in the back. I asked him to contact the owner and ask them what they had quoted to me the day before, as well as what I requested ($175.00 for a self propelled basket mower). He proceeded to argue with me and then asked me to leave the room while he made a call to the owners. It is hard to explain how he talked to me. It was like how dare you question me!! Who do you think you are!! ! I waited for 15 minutes before the sister of the owner interceded and went to the back to speak with him. The owners were not in that day. She returned and stated that the price was not going to be reduced. I said forget it and pulled out my card to pay. The cashier said I have to check with the back. She returned and would not take my card. Later the white male from the back confronted me and continued to speak with me very condescendingly for all the customers to hear. Yes, I did raise my voice because I was not going to allow him to continue to demean me, like a master speaking with a slave. Why did he feel it necessary to come from the back? The sister said you are too aggressive and we are not going to sell you anything! I felt as though I was at a KKK rally. Need I say more. I said let me be clear are you refusing to sell to me? The white male said, I am not, but she is, with a smirk. By the way, I learned that they increased the price ($185.00) of the mower within 30 minutes of having refused to sell it to me. Also, I met several customers that day who said that they had been given a hard time when they returned non working items. Sure there are good buys, but there is a way to speak to and treat your customers. Remember, when you get a lot of the same reviews there is an apparent problem. read more

This store is truly a rarity!! Family owned, kind and helpful staff and has always honored their word w/me.. I shop at both locations, this and on Harper in SCS every other week!! Always new and fun items from food products discounted to furniture at a steal, (yes, some may have a minor flaw, but at least 50%, it's fine w/me, and a little furniture polish usually takes care of that! ) I once did purchase a shower head that upon installing, was missing a part, I promptly returned it to the store, and one of the owners Tom, was very polite, apologetic and brought me one that he personally inspected!! viola!! problem solved w/o any issue what so ever and very professionally.. I recently went and purchased beautiful baby clothes, all brand new w/tags for a shower at over 60-75% off!! The mommy to be was thrilled when she opened my gifts, asking me, wow, you shouldn't have spent so much (I am retired), to which I replied, no worries honey, it's all good.. (little did she or would she ever know I bought all of her gifts at a resale store) !!! I have always had fun, lots of help, advise on decor as well as offers to help me take items to the car, they always call one of the young men in back to load me up!! I truly am grateful that there is a store where I can shop with confidence, afford so much more and leave with a huge =) on my face. Would rate them as a zero if I could!!! Avoid at all costs! Manager is rude, condescending and nasty, and the staff isn't much better. Ridiculous number of complex hoops to jump through to consign or sell in bulk. Store sells store returns and shelf damaged goods at almost new prices, but many items don't even work! They say that if an item is defective after getting it home they will make it right within a specified time frame, with the receipt, but when confronted with a non-functioning item which meets the stated return criteria, they berate and accuse the buyer and refuse to make an adjustment or exchange. Save yourself the hassle and ridicule and shop somewhere else. You'll get better prices and your purchases will actually work! Unless you want to be insulted and degraded, don't darken their hard to open doors. read more

While I generally never take the time nor have the time to write reviews about business establishments, I had to sign up for YELP to post and notify the public about my horrible experience at the Second Glance Resale shop in Eastpointe,MI. The manager is condescending and cares nothing for customers. When asked if they had a Facebook page in which I could voice my opinions regarding my unpleasant experience, her response was: "we removed the ability for folks like you to make comments and bash us". My response: I'd like to share how I was treated with current and potential customers, not bash you; and exercise my 1st Amendment right to free speech and voice my opinion." She responded, "Lady it must be your pregnancy hormones". My response: "I am certainly pregnant and hormonal but for you to respond to me in this manner and not be pleasant and professional is unacceptable." Albeit she wanted to purchase some rather expensive baby clothes, I.e. Janie & Jack for $1.00 or such, and I recognize that is their right. However, when I removed a few high priced items from the resale pile, she told me I could take all my stuff and donate it if I weren't happy with their offer. Now this was rude and unnecessary. She gloated about how I had no recourse to her rudeness and I assured her that I would find a way to share with the public. You can take this review, keep the meat and throw out the rest but I'll never grace Second Glance with my patronage and they lost an exceptional customer & consigner! read more

the counter woman was extremely rude. i paid with my debit card which clearly says on the back of it to check my id!!! when i asked her is she going to check my id she said no. i said why? she said its store policy. this makes me really angry as anyone could have had my card and come in there and used it. it takes 3 secs to check. with all the identity scams going on you would think she would want to protect herself and the customer. she acted like that was a big imposition on her. i will never shop there again as they dont have any concerns at all about their customers being ripped off!!! read more

I must say that most of the staff at this stores are polite. Unfortunately I had a most unpleasant experience with one of the cashiers. And when I spoke to the OWNER, Melissa, her response made it evident why the young lady felt she could be rude. This was the situation; the store had printed flyers prior to the date of a sale that stated...10% off furniture & electronics, 50% off clothing and 25% off everything else. But on the day of the sale they had post new signs with different percentage proportion. As a informed shopper I presented my flyer. Unfortunately the attitude I encounter made clear to me that they were intentionally not planning to honor the flyer. Based Melissa"s response, I made clear to her that I will never shop at any of her stores ever again. The one store in Gross Point is the only one that is clean. She (Melissa) does not respect her customers and even though some of her staff is very nice she allows the nasty one to be nasty and keep their jobs. I will spend my money else where. read more
