I was coming to this location consistently for quite a few years until I had to cut down on my coffee spending. On the occasion I do decide to get a treat I have been switching between a variety of drinks, depending on the day. But it's only between 3 different drinks. However at this location it wasn't consistently yummy and enjoyable. I did on a few occasions say something to them and they would remake the drink, because that's what Starbucks does, but it was still tasting weird/different/not yummy. But if I order that drink exactly the same from another location, why does it taste better? Even when I would mention this to them, that it wasn't the same as location A and B, they would argue with me that it wasn't true. So maybe I'm the crazy one? Again, I just stopped going to this location for a long period of time. However, every once in a while I'll give this location another try, such as today, my husband decided to stop there for a drink. I asked him to bring me a regular blonde drip coffee, as I have been having this option at other locations and it's been delicious. But yet again this location ruined a drink that has been great at other locations. It's was so strong and horribly bitter. So what I know is, when I'm in my community and my family and I decide to stop for a treat, I'll be giving my money to the Sobeys Starbucks or to Tim Hortons. Hopefully someone higher up reads this and maybe actually checks out this location for some possible inconsistencies that could be causing a not great outcome with their product.

THE SETUP After leaving the Calgary Airport (YYC) U.S. Customs area (where they verified my U.S. Passport), I went on this lonnnnnnnng trek through the International area of the terminal to find my United Airlines gate, San Francisco (SFO) bound (I think E90?). But all kidding aside, I am extremely happy that P&S has branched out of Marda Loop and the Calgary Farmer's Market -- even IF this particular location is at the mall. It does get a little busy, especially during the weekends, but I've found their cozy seating space particularly conducive to study sessions or meeting people on weekdays between 12-4. I mean if you have to be at the mall anyway... right? The coffee is great. The lattes in particular are a treat; I have the anti-sweet tooth so I really appreciate how authentically delicious it is, unsweetened and all.

One thing I also found a bit different about this location is the great wall art, on one wall there's a mural of "The Coffee Belt" on the adjacent wall they have a really cool mural of Calgary, and then on the next wall there's some hung paintings. Great art element at this location! It's not obvious that this Starbucks is here as the signage is small outside, I'm guessing it's because it's a licensed non-corporate location. Luckily this means less people, a quieter café and quick/efficient service! As a licensed location there are some downfalls; they don't redeem rewards and don't typically take part in corporate promotions, however you can still earn stars but they'll have to manually enter your card number if you don't have the physical card and only have the app. This also means they don't participate in the free refills benefit given to Green and Gold Members. They do still have all the usual offerings at this location including La Boulange, but their ordering process with corporate works a bit different so they may not be as well stocked as corporate locations. They do open quite early at 6am on weekdays, 7 am on weekends, but they close fairly early as well at 6pm. Not easy to get parking around here either unless you're a guest at the hotel. This is a great Starbucks location, they have some of the better staff I've encountered in all my visits to various Starbucks stores. There's the cool wall art factor, it's quieter and it's a nice place to hangout away from busier crowds. There are some downfalls with being a licensed store, and I probably would have given them 5 stars if they had all the corporate benefits, but they still have all the great usual offerings if you're okay with making a non-promotional order that would fall under the My Starbucks Rewards program.

First, they spelled my very simple name "Susan" as "Suzan." Are you kidding me? It's printed on my rewards account! Then I waited a whole SIX minutes for my extra-hot, half-caf, oat milk, no-foam, three-pump vanilla latte. Meanwhile, people who ordered after me somehow got their drinks first. I don't appreciate being ignored. When I politely pointed this out, the barista smiled and said, "Thanks for your patience." Excuse me? I wasn't being patient--I was being inconvenienced. Maybe listen to your customers instead of assuming they're okay with poor service. The tables weren't spotless, there was one napkin on the floor, and the music was so loud I could barely hear myself complain. I've been coming to Starbucks for years, and the standards have clearly gone downhill. I expect professionalism, accuracy, and a little respect. Located on ground level on 1st and 13 Ave. It was steady but not overly busy when I arrived. This location is clean and one of the nicest Starbucks I have seen. Ordered up a Venti late (yes, it was that kind of morning) and spotted the pastries that were calling my name. Settled on a lemon loaf....yes, just one. They had three people working, which makes me believe they are fairly busy, however with only three customers in Starbucks, everything was done quick. In and out within minutes. Service was quick.
