Today, I sent my movers to donate 22 pieces of furniture to the Canoga Park store as it's closer to our warehouse in Van Nuys. The manager of the store (Latin female) looked at some of the first pieces that they pulled off the truck and said that they weren't up to their quality standards. One piece was a shabby chic desk (which is supposed to be distressed) and the other was an upholstered chair and ottoman in green velvet. The mover stressed to the manager that she really needed to look at all of the pieces and she would see that they were all nice quality. She simply said "Don't bother taking anything more off of the truck as this isn't for us." So, I'm curious if corporate does anything to educate their managers and employees to recognize things that will bring revenue into their stores. How can one store welcome me when I'm pulling up and the other refuse to even look after only seeing a couple of pieces? I'm truly baffled. So, not only did my good deed get shot down, I still had to pay my movers their fee for trying to make the drop-off. No good deed goes unpunished . . . For the record, I know the pieces I was trying to donate were worthy for the store -- I'm very aware when something should be thrown away or advertised for free. These pieces did not fall into either of those categories. Anyone have any suggestions for a good charity that would welcome nice donations? I'm personally not a fan of Salvation Army or Goodwill as I don't care for their business practices.

They have an incredible variety and are very helpful in store and as brokers to find what you are looking for even if they don't have it in store. Great staff too! The store has a very welcoming atmosphere, very open feeling, not at all claustrophobic like some stores can be. Love the background music too, especially the jazz - keeps me in my happy place while treasure hunting. We love the Retail Therapy sessions held on the first Friday of every month, not only is there wine, cheese and crackers and sweets and treats, but the entire store is discounted 15% - that's always a welcome bonus. Who didn't love a discount?! My most favorite type of therapy. We've enjoyed getting to know the owners and some of the dealers who happen to be there when we are, they're helpful and informative. And on the QT, sometimes they authorize discounts - if they can - on the items in their booths, especially when you buy multiple items. I saw on their Instagram that the next Retail Therapy session will be a Christmas Party - we'll be there with bells on and bringing our shopping list! Highly recommended to others. And while you're there, there's a number of antique stores there on Sherman Way - they're gradually working to revitalize the Historic Antique Row in Canoga Park. 2 new stores have been born out of the dealers in Main Street Vintage - check out Artfully Made (Sherman Way, all handmade items) and Vintage Home (Owensmouth, just opened 11/2/25), plus the owners also have Retro Relics 2 doors away from Main Street Vintage - another great selection there! Hope you have as much fun as we do. And visit the Real Juicery on Remmet for great juices, smoothies and bowls (more great owners!). Plus, 2 coffee shops opened this year on Sherman Way, Trio and Jessie's Grind (latter has the most fabulous doors!!) Support our local businesses . Our community needs small businesses, and the ones I've mentioned are absolutely worth a visit... or 2... or 50

I have found some great pleated skirts for $5! A wool camel jacket for $8.99. Seriously quality merchandise in all sizes. This is a self help place. They have a really big selection of kids items as well upstairs and men's and women's clothing I keep finding myself going back every time I have extra money lol really humble workers as well. me and my mom love it here. Check it out if you're ever in the San Fernando Valley area.

As we entered Savers, we were quickly greeted by the staff. The store was a nice sized one and very clean! Everything was very organized! They have clothing, household items, books, purses, bags, jewelry, shoes, and more. It all depends on the donations. The prices seem very steep to me. I guess I've never thrifted in Los Angeles before?!?! They are open seven days a week from 10 am to 8 pm. You can join their club and get points towards a discount. 100 points equals 1 reward. Each reward is a 20 percent off your next purchase. You'll have to read the fine prints. If you're 55 plus, shopping on Tuesdays is a perk! They say you can get 30 percent off. ( EXCLUDES new merchandise with the red tags on them ). I would ask the clerks about this before shopping and ask about their "restrictions may apply" policy! Overall, it was a nice tour of the store. Know your prices vs shopping secondhand prices. Employees were very helpful and friendly. Ample parking!

I didn't find much, but I'll be back for sure with more donations. That was our initial purpose. I know this is a "for profit" second hand store, but Goodwill is wild with their limited hours and no longer accepting donations at this time response when I call. Also, Savers gives you a 25% off purchase coupon, Goodwill has gone down to 10%. If I were to put them in order of where I'd go thrifting, it would still be Goodwill, then Savers, then Salvation Army. Also, on Yelp & Google it still has holiday hours - this place is open for business as well as accepting donations daily from 10am-8pm.
