this used to be a great place to shop and was always packed with people. not anymore. they do have some nice things and the people working there are very nice, but it is Not a thrift shop , the new owner has turned it into more of an Antique shop. that being said if you go in you are likely to see a lot of the same items every time you stop by. they have gotten more expensive than goodwill for many run of the mill items. read more

I like going to thrift shops for my movie collection but at this location it was a little overpriced for my budget. $5 for the blu-rays & $4 for the DVD's is more than expected. The owner has some real anger issues and problems with accepting donations. He used foul language with me (the f word), The stores owner accused me of lying to him (because I stated in general terms that stores were no longer accepting items). He then said he was offended and used more F bombs. I told him to not take offense when offense is not meant to be given. This thrift store just lost me as a customer and the hundreds of dollars I spend every year their because the owner acted a bit crazy. My comment that I made was very benign. I meant no offense. I was actually excited to meet him as the owner. Now I'm not going back. read more

Lot's of clothing and knick knacks to "pick" through. Bring some hand sanitizer though because this is one of the more grungier thrift shops I've been to. Grungy. Just grungy. The electronics and misc equipment is located in the back of the store. Some of the stuff is in OK shape but at the same time some of the stuff is dusty, dirty, and broken. Blah. Just blah. My first time there I had a good impression in general, it's mes say but the prices a good and you get what you pay for there so no problems BUT I bought a dresser there and the person at the cash register said she'd deliver and I asked her multiple times if she was sure and she assured me she'd deliver within a week and nothing! I kept calling with no answer and finally ended up paying them a visit just to have the "owner" come out yelling at me, belittling me and harassing me out the door all because he said they don't deliver and I was lying and that he wasn't going to hold my sh** for me and just was all around rude and disrespectful. He runs a dishonest and theft business! I asked for my money back and he said no! I asked for the item I paid for and again he said no! Save yourself the money and don't shop with these thieves! Wow!!!!! First off, hats off to Cora. I haven't met her. Only spoke to her on the phone. What a gem. We just lost a loved one and needed to have some furniture picked up asap out of the apartment. Cora was very understanding and made it happen. The two gents who showed up (Sean and someone else) were so professional and caring. Wow!!!! There is nothing like losing a loved one and having to fight through details to get things done. Simi Thrift made it so easy to dispose of some nice, well-cared-for items. Of the several thrift stores in the area, this store is my favorite one. I've been shopping here occasionally for the past four years, usually searching for a random drinking receptacle to add to my collection of mismatched glassware. Located in a small corner of Hubbard St. and Los Angeles St. (in between First St. and Erringer Rd.), it shares the parking lot with a golf store, a Mexican eatery, and a botanica. The store may look tiny from the outside, but inside, it's actually kind of big. It's not as large as a Goodwill or Salvation Army store, but big enough not to feel cramped. The usual secondhand goods are there - clothing, furniture, books, home decor, kitchenware, toys, etc. Old luggage pieces, electronics, and bikes are in the next room past all the clothing racks. While I have yet to find a great article of clothing for myself, I did see the occasional pretty vintage dress that I would totally have snatched off the rack if only I were a size 0. Other than that, it's fun to go through the racks, cringing whenever I come upon an old romper from Wet Seal (or remember 5.7.9?) and remembering how I had one exactly like that when I was in junior high. Some of the knick-knacks are interesting, to say the least. I was there just a few days ago, and there was a box of enemas for $1.98. Honestly, why would anyone want to buy a box of enemas at a secondhand store? As far as I know, it looked like a sealed box to me (like I was going to touch it), but still. So why the 4 stars for 1-star junk? The old "one man's junk is another man's treasure," of course. And sometimes, it's fun to get down and dirty in some parts, too: the books, the vinyl collection, and the toys are a complete mess. While they're in their respective designated area of the store, there are crates, storage bins, and even a shopping cart to go through. I had lots of fun the last time I went. For less than $2, I came out with a glass and several books - one was an old printing of *The Wizard of Oz*, and another was a Montgomery Ward cookbook with a recipe that called for wrapping fish heads in foil before microwaving it for 6-7 minutes. Thrift store hunting is like a treasure hunt, and let me tell you this store has many gems hidden within its store. The prices are great and it has friendly staff. I have been browsing at this thrift store for years. I would have given it 5 stars but it is NEVER clean. The carpet never gets vacuumed. The books and LP's are always a HUGE mess sadly. And their knick knack area is a challenge to shop through sometimes. My daughter always finds some great vintage piece of clothing and their prices are usually very fair. I love that they take in almost ANYTHING. There are always interesting things to look at. One more thing to note- the people that work there are not very friendly. Often they look miserable or angry. It's small but I really like their prices. They actually separate their maternity clothes which is something that makes it easy for me to check in quickly. I even appreciate their small curtain and mirror so I can try things on! That beats goodwill for me. It's used stuff and sure, it's not super clean. But that's why you're supposed to go home and wash the stuff yourself! I only wish this store was bigger with more selection. I would like to give this store more stars, but I just can't because it's always been so god-awful dirty and messy when I've gone in. I do my fair share of thrifting so I'm no stranger to dirt and I don't mind getting my hands dirty but come on-this place is just.....really, really, really dirty. I never found a single piece of clothing I liked enough to buy here, but the book section, when I could bring myself to go through it, did turn up some gems. Mainly a Mary Renault novel or two, and I acknowledge that because the rarer titles are hard to find and I'm a big fan of hers. I also picked up three really awesome records and a great necklace there, but after awhile I stopped coming in because the dirt in this place always made me feel really uncomfortable. I'm a clean person thanks to Mom, and when there's a layer of visible dirt and nastiness overlying the merchandise, it makes my skin start to crawl. Like another reviewer mentioned, the floor needs to be vaccumed and steam cleaned and then scrubbed with a combo of pine sol and bleach. The book and record section was a nightmare when I last went in, and I remember seeing the shopping cart, but I didn't touch it. The little Botanica next door is awesome though, if you're into alternative healing and speak Spanish. :) read more

I've been going to this store at least 2 or three times a month for the past 5 years. In that time I've heard Clara speaking fluent English the entire time. Yesterday when I asked her a question she pretended not to understand or speak English. A customer was acting as a translator. It was the most bizarre and ridiculous situation. This place has been around forever. Not sure if it's changed hands, I seem to remember it was a Salvation Army years ago. Now it's definitely independent and run by a small circle. Typical thrift shop fare, the kind of thing white rappers write songs about. Check out the wall of books, if you like to read. Good luck finding a diamond in the rough if you like to flip for profit. I'll tell you what I do like in here, furniture. I've picked up some good stuff over the years, an awesome table made out of real freakin' wood, not that particleboard stuff from Staples and Ikea that you can karate-chop with your forehead. I like this place, but some other six-foot-tall 150-pounder keeps buying up all the pants and shirts that would fit me or look good. The people who run this place are smart and they can be reasoned with; they also seem to know what they have, and they've been in business long enough to know how to stay that way. Yeah it has no air conditioning so I somewhat dread visiting in summer. But this is Simi Valley's most fascinating thrift store and it is insanely cheap. Huge book area. The records are mostly terrible but occasionally you will get lucky. I like the auctions of higher end items. Seems like there is a sale or discount every day. read more

I would prefer to give them a HUGE minus 5, but i cant. I purchased a couch on thursday, told the lady i would be in friday to pick it up. she says ok if you dont get here by then we consider it a donation and it goes back in stock,. I thought she meant you would get your money back....I couldnt have been more wrong. The rude young man behind the counter told me nope we dont do refunds. I asked for them to hold it till monday since i wouldnt have a way to get it till then...he said no, its either by 5 or you lose your money...basically tough crap. said he would deliver it for me...but on HIS time, for $25 and there had to be someone ther to unload it or he would leave and take the couch bac,k with him They are BEYOND rude, i would recommend everyone STAY AWAY from this place. and like everyone elses review, I also agree the placve is always filthy. read more

This store is very dingy. It seems more of a junk collection then thrift store. They had had a few items of baby clothing that were worth the digging. I had an awkward experiences with a homeless/panhandler/Simi Valley crazy. As I was leaving a lady followed me to my car and then stared at me through my window. I couldn't leave at first until she moved to the front of my car at which point she accused me of staring at her and demanded money. If you complainers would just quit your moaning and realize that everything that goes on at Habitat stores is by volunteers - accept for the manager (who isn't always there-buy soul that she is). Perhaps you could go and volunteer to help clean and organize the stores?...then they'd be in much better condition. Anyone can walk in off the street and volunteer to 'serve' for a few hours or organizations/ church groups, etc can volunteer in groups of up to 10 people for abt 4 hours. Groups over 10 need to call Habitat and take it from there. This is a great opportunity to help this organization in ways that are close to home and within the realm of possibility...they selflessly and lovingly do so much for humanity. read more

Look, to those of you going to a THRIFT store and are expecting to be amazed by the architecture, interior design and hospital cleanliness, TAKE A HIKE! Its what you think of when you think THRIFT. Its always filled with STUFF, different things, small, big, prices are what you expect... CHEAP. I usually hit up thrift shops when Im bored, looking for nothing in particular and coming out with exactly what I was looking for. Its fun to look through stuff and find that little gem. The staff is pretty cool, always moving around doing something. The auction area is a cool idea although Ive never put a bid but they always have at least a couple of unique items. The back room is like going into the basement of your uncles house, stereo's, wires, keyboards, a bunch of golf clubs (some good ones too) and just randomness. Anyways, if your looking for a place where you can just browse through stuff, then this is your place. If your looking to go to a place where most of their stuff is overpriced Target-rejected overstock items, then take yourself to the Goodwill down the street. read more

I love to thrift and I know how to get dirty when looking for deals. But this thrift store is really dirty and the back section that has lamps and such, always has a horrible smell. The silent auction shouldn't be held ever. Thrifting is about finding hidden treasures valuable and worthless. And here you have to bid on anything that's collectible or valuable. It just doesn't sit right with me. I've been here a few times and have only found one item (a small vase). I gave it a shot but I don't think ill bother stopping by anymore on my thrift runs. read more
