Really good pizza... Best in the area. The kind you crave for and doesn't taste like they use cheap ingredients. Crust, sauce, cheese- all yum! I've come here many times. Service is a hit or miss. There are 2 really nice blonde ladies who hit a home run if you manage to get them but they mostly work at night. If you're there during the day, don't count on the daytime bartender lady being too friendly. It's a running joke amongst our friends who frequent this place on how rude she is and not in the Farouk kind of way. We still came for the pizza regardless and always hoping for the two nice ladies. Yep, that good. Unfortunately, this last time our pizza slid off of the stand it was on, toppling to the bar floor. The younger, blonde bartender informed us there was nothing they could do for us, even though we had only eaten 2 pieces of the 12 piece pizza. No new pizza, no discount, nothing! We left very hungry and I can no longer say that I find visiting here justifiable, even though it is blocks from my house. The pizza is no longer that good. read more

As a long time fan of stop spot, I'm open to the new second base. The burger isn't nearly as good, the shuffle board is gone, as are the darts, which is disappointing, but the staff was friendly, and the drinks comparable. They actually have more beers on tap, which is good for the beer drinkers, but the big mugs are gone. The menu is small, but they are just getting started, so I'm sure it'll be better. The prices for food are higher, and the chippers were REALLY salty, probably to encourage more drinking. I think the potential to be a good local bar is there, I will definitely go back. read more

It is no longer the Stop Spot - it is now Second Base and there are some significant changes, most importantly the pizza recipe is not the same. The crust is now the caliber of a frozen pizza and the sauce is lacking flavor. Previously, I would have given the Stop Spot's pizza a 5 star rating. There is no longer shuffle board and there were people next to me at the bar who left once they found out this news. I am really hoping this is just an unfortunate (even if not surprising) transition in ownership. read more

And to add to this, I just drank four 22 ounce drafts of the same beer at rosie ogradys, where the food is better, for only $12 during their happy hour. So I can literally drink almost two whole beers more (actually way more, since your beer comes in regular pint glass sizes) for the half the price at a downtown pub. I came here randomly one night when my partner remembered an old bar he went to a couple years ago that we drove up and down 9 mile looking for it and couldn't find it, so we decided to check this place out and we're very happy we did. A dive bar isn't typically my type of bar I enjoy but I really had a good time here. They had karaoke going on and almost everybody was singing and got the chance to sing multiple times if they wanted, some were really good and others were just going to have a good time - either way there was no judgement and everyone in the bar had a fun time. I haven't been back yet but I will be soon, I also didn't have any food so I can't comment on that. They had wine by the split (small bottles that fill 1 glass) so it was fresh but not the best although its my fault for ordering wine in a dive bar. My partner had his regular Bacardi and coke. Drinks were cheap and generous pours. Bathrooms were okay, a little dark and dirty but they were fine. I played Keno and they had pull tabs which were fun. The place was not packed when we went which was a weekend night, Friday/Saturday I can't remember but enough people to talk to and meet some new friends. They had pool tables which some people were playing and the chairs at the tables appeared to be folding chairs which was odd I thought but the patrons didn't seem to mind. Overall I'd check this place out if you're considering it, based on other reviews the food seems good. I will be back again sometime but I wouldn't plan on spending a whole night out here for me personally. read more

The Stop Spot is ideal when it comes to dive bars. Friendly staff, greasy pizza and cheap beers make it the perfect place to chill out with some friends. Add in a competitive game of shuffleboard and you will make a simple night out into stuff that "dive bar" dreams are made of. I think it was here that I learned how to perfect my shuffleboard game...I think I'm now planning a world tour of hustling shuffleboard games, Kingpin style. If you happen upon there during some weekend nights, get some ready for some amazing and atrocious karaoke; its one or the other in my opinion. The pizza is great... It is one of the rare kinds of pizza that actually reheats very well! It is just down the road from the real strip of downtown Ferndale but is worth visiting for karaoke, shuffle board, and of course the pizza which I mentioned above. Their pizza is good but hours are false. They said food until 1am. We arrived at 12:30am. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes and no one acknowledged us, then we heard the bartender tell the people next to us that the pizza oven was shut down, it was only 12:45. You suck!!! read more

i ate stop spot pizza three times last week. once for takeout, once in the bar, and then leftovers. the pizza is great. the crust is amazing and the cheese is super thick and gooey. delicious, delicious pizza that i am dreaming of right now. so happy to finally have tried the pizza because it is definitely the best in ferndale. they also have karaoke on some nights and a shuffle board that is free and well maintained. beer is cheep and the bartenders have all been very nice. love, juston read more

Love this place. No...... it's not trendy and new but they have great pizza, cold beer, super nice bartender, shuffle board, pool tables and always a good time. Akin to the burning of the library in Alexandria. Why, oh why. My lamentations call out in the night, alas none hear my cry. The once glorious shuffleboard is replaced by cocktail tables that no one frequents. Removed and replaced with additional seating that nobody uses, since there is no shuffleboard. The second pool table removed for additional, unused seating. The pizza. Oh the sweet, sweet, extra extra cheese za! It was my absolute favorite pizza I had ever had. They claimed to me that the new pizza was "fresher" and "better". Perhaps the former, but never the latter. The pizza is merely pizza, not the ambrosia I was used to. The drinks are still cheap-ish, but they no longer have the giant mugs. I am saddened beyond what a man of my health can handle. The karaoke - just as bad, but not in a good way. In closing, a man needs his bar. What is a man without a bar? Just a miserable pile of secrets.... read more

I would have given STOP SPOT 5 stars but second base desires 0 (yelp made me select at least 1). As others have said, they got rid of the shuffleboard and a pool table. The Christmas lights and wall decorations are gone, making the atmosphere dull and boring. I was so disappointed to find out it was no longer stop spot and even more disappointed when I went in and had a drink. They completed got rid of the staff too which I find sad. Everyone who went to stop spot new the staff; it was the neighborhood bar. I haven't tried second base pizza and after reading reviews I don't know that I want to. STOP SPOT pizza was the best!!! Second base, you've ruined everything. I don't want your new bar. Not if it's not stop spot. Put the shuffleboard back in. Put the second pool table back in. Revert back to the original pizza recipe. And damn it, hang those Christmas lights back up. I wish they kept everything the same when they bought it. BRING STOP SPOT BACK!! read more

Wow, what a major dive bar with upscale pricing. Really??? $6 for a small "pint" glass of "specialty" beer? That price is less anywhere in Ferndale, especially for the type of beer and size. Never again. Stay away! The food was terrible, greasy, fatty and low quality. The service was decent though. The owners need to get their head out of their a**. I would advise anyone to go elsewhere. Do you realize you are on the outskirts of Ferndale too? The brewery down the street has lower prices. So does almost every bar in Ferndale. What a joke and a major disappointment. The place is rundown, bathrooms are gross and furniture is basic. No windows anywhere and the place is dark, dreary and lonely inside. No wonder at 6PM they had 3 people in the entire place. Came in with a few friends the other night and was surprised to see a new name on the building. The inside had some well deserved upgrades but I was sad to see the shuffle board go. The interior upgrades justify the price increase on drinks but it still retains a nice dim local bar atmosphere. The staff was extremely warm and friendly. We will definitely be back soon. read more

Great pizza and huge, decently priced beers. You can call ahead and order the pizza for take out, too, which is great. This is a divey type bar (in a good way) that's down the road from all the high-trafficked places on Woodward in Ferndale. I hear their karaoke is fun but I have yet to go. This is a great place to go chill, have a few beers with friends, and watch a ball game, too. If low-lighting, traditional neighborhood bars are your thing, stop at this spot for sure. read more

It's a little divey, which I'm usually not a fan of, but we go often for their shuffleboard, and usually end up staying for a game or two of pool. We go early enough that we can usually get good dibs on both (arriving around 8ish), and are out in time avoid the karaoke! (It's fine for karaoke, we're just not fans.) read more
