This is our 4th time staying in this place. The managers have been so friendly and helpful to us. I absolutely Love Grover Beach and have not found another place I would stay at. It's not a luxury hotel but it's just right for us and the price. I really like that each room has a fridge and microwave in it... no coffee pot but they do provide it for you in the office with pastries. So far it's been very clean and comfortable the 4 times we've stayed there. Plenty of walking distance restaurants and 7-eleven is also up the street. We will be back.

I brought my own bedding, but the mattress was comfy.

The room was very spacious and comfortable and the location was absolutely perfect--quick 5 minutes walk to the beach! The parking was easy as well! I was initially undecided between a few different options, but ultimately decided to stay at Beachcomber Inn. I made a reservation from Friday to Sunday. I had already received an email confirming that check-in would be at 4:00 PM on Friday. However, around 9:00 AM that same morning, I received a phone call informing me that no one had stayed in the room the night before, and that we were welcome to check in at any time without waiting until 4:00 PM. As we all know, most hotels charge extra fees for early check-in or late check-out, so receiving such a generous offer without even asking was truly surprising and very much appreciated. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, we were only able to arrive around 6:00 PM. When we got there, I learned that the person who had called me was the owner, Johnny. We had the chance to meet him in person--he is incredibly friendly, talkative, and genuinely welcoming. He personally showed us around our room, which made the experience even more special. The location of the hotel is outstanding. It's just about a block and a half away from the busy center of Pismo Beach, yet it is remarkably quiet. We had a very peaceful night's sleep, and the room temperature was perfect. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided--there was a coffee machine with plenty of coffee pods, and the bathroom was fully stocked with essentials like shampoo and shower products. The room itself was spotless and in excellent condition. Additionally, the nearby beaches are only about a 10-minute drive away. We even went to the sand dunes and rode ATVs, which was an incredibly fun experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Pismo Beach. Check-out on Sunday was scheduled for 12:00 PM, but once again, Johnny reached out to let us know that no one was checking in after us. He kindly offered that we could check out anytime up until 6:00 PM if we wished. Just like the early check-in, this thoughtful gesture--offered without us even asking--was both surprising and deeply appreciated. He could have easily charged for this, but it was clear from the moment we met him that his priority is simply to provide excellent service and ensure his guests feel comfortable and happy during their stay. We would absolutely recommend staying at Beachcomber Inn when visiting Pismo Beach, and if you have the chance, meeting Johnny in person is truly a pleasure. From now on, we know that every time we visit Pismo Beach, we will choose to stay at this hotel without hesitation. Through this review, we would like to thank him once again and hope to see him again very soon.

The air conditioning unit in our room cycled loudly, and switched gears all throughout night. It woke me at least five times, even though I was wearing earplugs. The next night my husband was livid, he didn't get any sleep because he heard stomping above us all night long. I awoke at least ten times that night, I thought it sounded like clicking or banging. When my husband complained to the front desk person, the young man looked at the hotel layout and said the people above us were checking out that morning, otherwise they could move us into another room. We were staying three nights, and my husband thought since the "loud" people were leaving we should just stay put, because we had a lot of items spread out because we were there to participate in a wedding recital and ceremony. All of our ironed clothes were already laid out and ready to wear. The last night was worse than the second. There was so much stomping my husband had to take a walk at 3AM to cool off, he was so angry. He came back to the room to take a shower and the water was cold. When he complained the following morning, the person behind the counter said we were directly under the lobby, and that's why it was so loud. Also my husband's previous complaint had not been logged. Since we were Hilton honor club members, Hilton contacted us after we checked out and were on our way home to acknowledge our complaint. They gave us some honor points, not enough for one night at the cruddy hotel, but it's better than nothing (I guess). The hot tub was filled with children with life vests, over used, and full the entire stay. We weren't able to use it. The fitness room was okay, and the breakfast was decent. I would not stay at this hotel again. I only gave the extra star because at least the Hilton attempted to make up for the awful service and sleepless nights.

The entire floor including the room we were in smelled like a combination of body odor, sweage and mildew. Our room had a massive puddle around the AC unit, which itself was flashing an error code. My stay at this hotel reinforced my typical policy of only staying at non-chain hotels. Never…read moreagain! The main thing is a complete lack of accountability and zero effort to remedy the situation. Here's what happened.. I stayed here with a friend and we were super excited because it was our first trip together and our dogs were joining. We knew that we didn't want to swim in the ocean on this trip, so the MOST important factor in choosing this hotel was the ability to let our dogs in the pool area (not IN the pool of course, but just inside the gated area, like by our lounge chairs). In fact, this was the ONLY REASON we chose this hotel over another hotel that was otherwise objectively better. We confirmed TWICE with Hilton that dogs were allowed in the gated pool area. First we called, and there was a tough accent to understand but they said dogs were allowed if they wore diapers (???). We called a second time to make sure we heard correctly - a different person picked up and yes dogs are allowed in the gated pool area, no diaper necessary. For both of these calls, we called the phone number on the Hilton website, on the page for this *specific location* (not the general corporate number, obviously). So *surprise surprise* when we arrive, exhausted from hours of driving, the front desk tells us that that information was not correct. NO dogs allowed in the gated pool area. ALSO dogs are not allowed alone in the rooms, so basically there was no way for us to use the pool since we couldn't keep the dogs in the room (alone) nor the pool area with us. No apology, barely sympathetic, and zero offer to compensate us in any way or anything complementary as a good faith gesture. I'm furious at this point, so we go to the front desk again. We explain the situation (I think to the manager at this point?) in detail. She said that we didn't call the direct line to the hotel, that I guess that line was to the broader Hilton brand (like a call center?), and we should've done that to get the correct answer. She made it seem like it was *our fault* rather than what was obviously their fault. Because according to her, essentially we should've known that: a) the phone number listed FOR THAT LOCATION, ON THE OFFICIAL HILTON WEBSITE was NOT the direct line b) we should've gone on a wild goose chase for that actual direct number c) we should've known to not believe what two separate official Hilton employees told us was a lie. Excuse me.....?????? I reiterate, this was literally the ONLY REASON we chose this hotel. At this point I'm so frustrated because we are so far beyond the original issue. Ok I get that dogs aren't allowed in the area (I'm not challenging the policy, and I never did). I even can understand that SOMEHOW we should've been mind readers and known to not trust the phone number on the official site and to not trust anyone who speaks to us on that line. But for the manager to not apologize, to barely show compassion, to make it seem like it's our fault, to take ZERO accountability for the ridiculous situation, and on top of that, not even offer us a discount or like a free drink because god forbid they spend $5 on us - THATS what I take issue with. I mean I take issue with it all, but extremely basic hospitality would've at least made us feel a tiny bit better about it. Wild. She also didn't seem to grasp any of this. She kept saying that it's the official policy that dogs can't go in the area, but at that point I was explaining how I'm taking issue with how she was handling the whole situation. I never expected them to bend the dog policy - I get they have no control over that. We keep talking past each other. We ended up calling the front desk later and explaining how the situation didn't sit well with us for all of the reasons above, and now directly ask if there's anything they could do to make it up to us, like a complimentary drink or breakfast. Again, this was the only reason we chose this hotel!! Our trip CENTERED ON CHOOSING THIS HOTEL. In the end they gave us a measly amount of points, which went to my friend who booked the trip, I got nothing, and that was that. So here's my takeaway: if you have any sort of issue come up, you can expect them to show no sympathy, take ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, and take no steps to remedy the situation or give a half hearted complementary gesture. I should've known to not trust a mega chain that doesn't give a crap about their obvious error. They have your payment already, so why should they?? My eyes are rolling out of my head.

According to the Hilton app this hotel was recently updated: so I thought this must meet my requirements. Furthermore, I was looking forward to my stay as I had a patio upgrade based on my status. As soon as I stepped into the hotel I was greeted with a musty smell: showing the hotels age. When I opened the hotel door I gasped: this hotel has not really been updated. It was like putting lipstick on a pig! Partly updated. The age of the room showed through! The trim on the doors was broken, paint was chipping off, the appearance was outdated....everything of this room screamed old! So how was the upgraded patio? When I stepped out on the patio I was greeted by a pile of nail: wow that could have been a nasty incident if I stepped on them. Plus the furniture was all dirty! Lastly there was no privacy on the patios. You could be holding hands with your neighbor or be gazing into their eyes! As for the bed: horrible! Soft pillows! Plus I could feel the springs! Being a very frequent Hilton visitor: I would clearly say that hotel is not worth staying at. In fact I would encourage you to stay at another hotel. Lastly if you seek a hotel in SLO: this hotel is not in SLO. The title on the Hilton app is misleading. This hotel is in Pismo. SLO downtown is a good 20 minutes away.

We thought it was pretty cool, especially the sunset, and wanted to show our family. That's what this weekend was, a little family trip with 11 of us total. We always look for the best bang for our buck, trying to keep it under $200. That means we sometimes get hit with a nasty surprise here and there. One conversation that was had centered around the rug of some hotels. How my wife wears sandals or socks because sometimes the rug feels greasy from not getting shampooed periodically. And when the conversation was happening, it brought back memories of stepping on greasy carpet elsewhere. I think I'm going to have to start packing an extra pair of "hotel socks" from now on.... So yeah, all this to say the carpet was clean. When we first pulled up, I thought for sure my wife splurged on this trip, and that the hotel was going to be in the $250-300 range. Nope. I think for 3 rooms, it almost came to $400. That's a great deal! We were able to take advantage of the dog park, which after walking around with the dog at night, more people should be taking advantage of. Because you can see the "evidence" of where people just let their pet go wherever. But as I walked around at night, you could see that all types were taking advantage of the great deal offered by Oxford. A woman on a business trip preparing for the next days presentation, a retired couple enjoying a weekend retreat, and family with a dad who looked like he was ready to fight anyone who looked at him funny. It was an interesting dynamic. It was most apparent that this is a really nice budget hotel that does its best to stay up to date on 2 occasions. When finishing up my shower, I looked up and could see that some work had been done on the ceiling, but it wasn't patched up. Like they nailed or screwed the piece back up, but didn't cover the evidence. You'll see what I mean in the photo. Not a big deal really. At least they fixed what way going on up there rather than ignoring it. The other was breakfast. Breakfast was just OK in my opinion. Eggs, sausage (the kind my daughter likes), potatoes, biscuits and gravy. The eggs were OK, a bit diluted. Didn't care for the potatoes, and biscuits and gravy is too heavy for me. I did put the gravy on my potatoes, which I thought helped. My son and I were off the same opinion, the gravy was probably the best part. My daughter, however, said the sausage was. My wife enjoyed it all. You might have enjoyed it all or none of it. What will be universally agreed upon is, get to breakfast early, because boy was it packed! I think I barely woke up around 8:30, was standing in line at 9:00. There was nowhere for us to sit except across the other side of the pool. It was nice, but when you need something, it's a long walk for something like salt, or coffee. Scratch that, coffee is never too far away. Some had trouble finding where breakfast was, which we were able to direct them. Normally breakfast is near the check-in, but here, it isn't. So pay attention when they tell you where breakfast is. Overall, great hotel. I did wake up sore from sleeping on the pull-out, the that's to be expected. 10 out of 10, would stay again

The location is truly unmatched -- right on the sand with incredible sunset views. It felt like the perfect coastal getaway. The room was clean, well maintained, and very reasonably priced for what you get. The bed was comfortable (I personally prefer something a little firmer, but that's just preference). The highlight was definitely soaking in the hot tub while listening to the waves -- such a relaxing experience. The front desk staff was fantastic -- friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. My only two minor complaints: the hot tub wasn't quite as deep as I personally would have liked, and our room was directly below the restaurant bar area on the third floor. In the mornings, we could hear dishes and some banging as they were setting up for the day, which woke us up earlier than we planned. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend requesting a room on the end of the hotel or away from the restaurant area. Overall, we would absolutely stay again -- the view and location are hard to beat.
