    Beachcomber Inn - Pismo Beach

We had the best stay here! We were welcomed by the host Kathie with a friendly smile and willingness to help. She showed us to our room and we were very impressed. This boutique hotel is quaint and offers rooms that are updated with attention to detail. The room we had was cozy, clean and comfortable. The kitchenette had a small fridge, microwave and was stocked with paper goods, coffee, tea and creamers. The fireplace offered a little extra warmth & comfort for us! The off street private parking was a bonus. All 7 rooms are on the 2nd level, no elevator but not an issue for us. We felt at home here and will definitely come back if we are ever in the area again. Highly recommend, hopefully you'll have a chance to be hosted by Kathie!

If you want to watch the beautiful sunset, you can walk over to the beach. Restaurants and shopping is all walking distance.

The manager was super friendly..The room.we stayed in was super cute. It had a cottage vibe to it. It was smaller than other hotel rooms, still very cute. The bed and pillows were amazing. I will definitely stay here again.

I am a long time guest of the Beachcomber Inn, Room 7 is my go to. During my stay in late December 2023 I posted a detailed review, at least 3 different people also stayed at the Beachcomber Inn based on my detailed review. I am appalled to read the recent post from a "Lisa W". I knew Grace, she was there for a number of years and was always so personable, the next gentleman Innkeeper referred to as "odd" helped me during my December stay. I have only encountered Kathie over the phone. She was pleasant when talking with her when the phone was finally answered, most of my calls went to a recording and on one visit to town, I thought I would just stop by, there was no one there covering the desk rather a handwritten note from Kathie saying she'd be back at a certain time, that time came and went, no Kathie, so I just decided to stay elsewhere. I happen to know the owner Leanne, we are from the same small town, "scattered" she is here, there and everywhere so, ok I can see maybe referring to her as scattered, but "self absorbed", "narcissistic" please this is not the Leanne that I know and love, AT ALL. Furthermore, the "Odd" man (yes I know his first name but I refuse to mention it) that took care of the Inn during that December stay was truly a gentleman. He carried my bags to my room and absolutely refused my tip, and as far as selling edibles, please, this cannot be the same guy Lisa W is referring to though I do not know of any other gentleman having run the Beachcomber. Clearly this review is retaliation, and I am willing to bet "Lisa W" is a close friend or family member, a daughter perhaps? This type of thing is not cool and if you take the time to read it, you can see its very little about their stay at the Inn rather it is all about character assassination in a half ditched effort to drive business away. Clearly if all was well with Kathie's performance, she wouldn't need to be replaced. Shoot Grace was at the Inn for years and years, not sure why guy #2 moved on, but having read this review, it has "RETALIATION" written all over it. Surely Yelp has a protocol when it comes to these things, I hope Leanne gets it removed, this is so unfair.

We stayed in a first-floor ocean view room since we had a service animal, and the room size was great. The grounds are well-kept, there's convenient beach access, and I loved that they have an adults-only hot tub--that was a nice touch. The person who checked us in was also very kind and welcoming, which set a great first impression. Unfortunately, things went downhill that night. Our upstairs neighbors were stomping loudly for hours. Around 8 PM, I called the front desk to let them know, and I was told they would reach out to the room--but nothing changed. By 10 PM, the noise was still going, so I called again. This time, instead of resolving the issue, I felt like we were being questioned. We were told the guests upstairs said they were already in bed, which didn't line up with what we were clearly hearing. The situation was frustrating enough that I tried to get their attention by tapping on the ceiling, which then got turned back on us as a complaint. When we asked about switching rooms, we were told the hotel was sold out and we'd have to wait until the next day--which I understand--but the way it was handled by the manager was disappointing. There was no apology, no empathy, and the tone came off dismissive and rude, which made the situation worse. I really wanted to love this place because the location and property are great, but customer service matters, especially when issues come up. Because of that experience, I'd think twice about staying here again.

Unfortunately the stairs were unavailable to me and my pet so I had to carry him in elevator because he was terrified of it once we made it to the green area there's was broken glass everywhere from the renovation. There was no communication that my room would've changed, no play deck would be available, and breakfast would be at the hotel next door which is so uncomfortable. Because of the construction the checkin desk is just inside the door adjacent to the tiny elevator. I was standing at the check-in desk and it is so close to the automatic doors that they just stayed open and it was cold outside. The luggage carts need to be updated. This sound trivial but they are so small, old/worn and don't have hook at the top to hang anything which would have helped given how small they are. Once we checked in I asked about a luggage cart as there were none to be found and the check-in clerk was kind enough to radio the cleaning staff to see if anyone left a cart in a hallway or in their room when they checked-out (I was told it happens). Shortly thereafter a member of staff came running by me in the lobby and took the elevator upstairs. Little did I know it was to get me a luggage cart that was found my cleaning staff. I was grateful for the effort and made my way to the room. I paid for a Deluxe Pier & Ocean View. I would suggest you get an Ocean View and skip the Pier View. Our room was the farthest most away from the ocean front of the hotel and so I had a good view of the neighboring hotel and could hear the children playing in the pool...not very relaxing and was louder than the ocean waves. The other complaint was that on the 2nd floor, where my room was located, my door was immediately next to the breezeway or walkway that is completely open to the breakfast area below so each morning I heard people in the breakfast area. I saw a door that could be shut to separte the walkway from the guestrooms but it was open for my entire visit. The elevators are extremely small and only 1 luggage cart and 2 people would fit. It is very old, slow and needs to be replaced. While I didn't use it the pool is heated and kept very clean. They offer electric bikes for rent with the first hour free. For the cost of this hotel I would have expected updated rooms or a lower price. I am looking forward to when the construction is complete as I would like to check out the new rooms.

Great location, wonderful breakfast selection, spacious rooms, very quiet wall mounted aircon/heater. Clean rooms. Most of the rooms either face the cliff and ocean or are at an angle so you can see the ocean from your window and balcony. Great location for cliff walk and stairs down to the beach. Only one area for improvement, add timers for the gas firepits, as they use tanked propane and when we came to the 3 fire pits at night to use them, folks just left them on high and walked off.. so all fire pits were empty. Front desk said they would send maintenance to refill them, but at that point we just went back to the room. Short walk to some great restaurants.

Pequin, their restaurant and bar, serves mid Mexican and American food, but their cocktails are good! A refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and two water bottles, along with a small cooler were available in the room. The bathroom area is spacious and has a separate area to get ready as well. Although the shower was large, the water pressure was horrible. The earplugs next to the bed scared me that this place may be loud. We were exhausted and happy that it was initially quiet. However, around 11pm, the guests next door arrived and it was as if they were in our room. I could here every cough, step, conversation, and the loud thuds of luggage hitting the ground. Those earplugs did not help in drowning out any of the noise. Also, this Inn is small, maybe 10 rooms and the parking lot is in the center, with some spots backed up to a room. Great if it's your car, not so much if it belongs to someone else. If you can tolerate noise, then this spot works. It's walking distance to Shell Beach, which is great for a morning walk, and it's near the freeway. I Personally would never stay here again. I was exhausted the next day.

The highlight was definitely soaking in the hot tub while listening to the waves -- such a relaxing experience. The front desk staff was fantastic -- friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. My only two minor complaints: the hot tub wasn't quite as deep as I personally would have liked, and our room was directly below the restaurant bar area on the third floor. In the mornings, we could hear dishes and some banging as they were setting up for the day, which woke us up earlier than we planned.
