Ben is an awesome healer! I've been going to Ben for a couple months now. I had an ankle injury in August that I had been working on with my primary care physician and physical therapist. Granted the muscle injuries I was dealing with were a known slow healing injury, but the addition of acupuncture and cupping really helped speed things along. The combination of cupping, acupuncture, massage, and coaching has made me feel well enough to move on to dealing with some other residual issues that have been hanging over my head for some time. I've found Ben's coaching to be extremely effective and I look forward to our regular sessions. He's genuine and empathetic while creating a no-judgement environment which makes emotional work that much easier to deal with. I've been to a number of acupuncturist and Ben's technique is very good. He's gentle, responsive, and adjusts procedures as appropriate to meet you and your body where you are that day. I've been seeing Ben for about 5 years, starting with Acupuncture & Cupping, then Coaching, then SomaMassage. With all his various services, it's like a "one-stop" shop for health and wellness. Ben has helped me the most with emotional healing and guiding me on how to understand my feelings. I saw Ben initially only for accupuncture and cupping to address my neck tightness. I really like his cupping technique cause he moves the cup around your body which feels like a reverse deep tissue massage. After a few appointments Ben expressed concerns that my neck tension was caused my deeper emotional stress and he wanted to help me though coaching. He was right, but I wasn't ready to admit that. Eventually I decided to give Coaching a try and it has been very therapeutic, eye-opening, empowering, but most of all, given me support as I navigate through the worst emotional trauma from my past and in my present. He's been through things as well so I found him relatable, non judgemental, easy to trust, and I actually feel like he cares about my well being. Ben recently started offering SomaMassage which is a technique that focuses on fascial release; I found it very helpful at loosening up my body and lasts longer than a normal massage. I love how he combines acupuncture and cupping, depending on what my body needs most in a session. I had never tried complementary medicine before, and Ben has made me a total believer. I've had lower back pain and sciatica for about 7 months now, and I've tried PT, stretching, core strength, etc...but Ben's acupuncture is the only thing that has made a notable difference. I was very nervous to try acupuncture, so I went to Ben's free consultation. His office is laid back and relaxing, and he has a great energy that put me at ease right away. I have already noticed a huge difference in how I feel, and I'm able to work out again, which I had to stop about 6 months ago. As a nursing student, I'm always sitting or standing for extended periods of time, so I didn't have high hopes for things getting better right away. After three appointments, I had a noticeable difference in my pain, and it has decreased by more than half. NOTHING else has done this for me. Absolutely amazing. I've been through half a dozen different therapists in my lifetime, and never could I have imagined therapy being so beneficial and rewarding. Don't get me wrong, it's tough and sometimes even grueling, but so worth it. I'm grateful to Ben for always being real, kind, and being a person I can rely on to call me on my crap at times. I started seeing Ben after I lost almost 60lbs and felt a bit disconnected from my body, so I figured I would give acupuncture/cupping a try. I work on computers throughout the day. As a result, I have developed back pain (RSI) and suffering from it for over two years now. I have tried every type of treatment (chiro, massage, physiotherapy, strength training etc.) but nothing has helped well enough. The pain reduced for a while and then came back with vengeance. With little hope, I thought to try acupuncture. Fast forward six months, I am happy that I tried and more happy that I chose to work with Ben. The intensity of pain has gone down. My back is definitely better and I feel more energetic. Ben is really great at his job. I never 'felt' the needles. The muscles seem more relaxed after each cupping + needles session. He is really friendly, sweet, and professional and really cares about his clients. If I could add a star, I totally would. Ben is the first acupuncturist that I have met that genuinely cares. When we are in session, he actually stays in the room and is PRESENT! I have been to a "mill" acupuncture group before where the acupuncturist would just pin me and leave the room...the same pins each time. I have been to him four times in the past three weeks. He remembers that I am sensitive to cupping . (Cupping is a suction-type muscle work. To me, it hurts but afterwards, I am so thankful!) He always does something different - and explains what he is doing - and asks for feedback. Which I like. In my first session, Ben asked me about my health, health goals, and obstacles/concerns. Ben is fantastic. I had never done acupuncture before and my wife encouraged me to try it after Ben helped her with pain and mobility issues in her shoulder, post surgery. I have an office job and sit at a computer about 8-10 hrs a day. A session with Ben always helps me relax and relieves my neck and lower back pain. As a massage therapist, I've had exposure to an array of acupuncturist over the years and never found one that resonated with me. Ben is kind, welcoming, and easy to get along with. This is my first experience with acupuncture and cupping, and I can't say enough great things about it. I have had better sleep, fewer headaches, and less pain in my upper back since attending. The cupping really did wonders for my back and neck, which were especially tight. I have been seeing Ben for about 6 weeks. I have never had cupping/acupuncture before. The cupping is quite an experience particularly on my shoulders and neck - I always feel so much better after a session. Ben has also given me stretches to do to help keep my neck and shoulders loose that I can do on my own. Ben has done miracles on my knee and Achilles which have both undergone multiple surgeries and left me in almost constant pain. Since seeing Ben my knee and Achilles have been nearly pain free! Not a fan of Ben's pseudo-scientific approach. Backstory: I got a prescription for acupuncture due to my back pain. I'd never had acupuncture before, but went in with an open mind and optimism for a treatment I've never pursued before. Couple of red flags as soon as I went to my first appointment: 1.) Ben had me stick my tongue out and did a diagnosis on my back-pain based on how he said my tongue looked. According to him, the prognosis was grim, which leads directly to my second point. 2.) Ben asked me about what vitamin supplements I was taking. I was taking a daily multi-vitamin at the time, and he immediately started shaking his head before offering to sell me his proprietary (and very expensive) vitamin blend. Again, I'm here for back pain issues, not a full health evaluation. 2b.) Ben offered to sell me a copy of a book his mother had written. 3.) Once we finally got down to the actual acupuncture, Ben started talking about the heating mat I was laying on. According to Ben, the gel that was inside of the otherwise completely normal heating pad was seeded with amethysts, which he claimed would help balance my 'meridians' and aid in the healing process. He offered to sell me one of these heating pads, which I declined. 4.) Ben really pushed cupping on me, and only stopped after telling him multiple times that I wasn't a fan of it. While acupuncture has mixed results in scientific and medical research, cupping has almost universally negative results and made what was supposed to be a healing process more uncomfortable by adding inflammation and pain to the procedure. Acupuncture itself wasn't for me. I went a few times and determined that I wasn't the right candidate for the treatment. If it works for you, neat, I guess I wish it worked for me. The big take-away for me was how much I disliked that an acupuncture place was really just a front for Ben to schlep his new-age trinkets, herbs, and mom's books. If you're the type of person who fetishizes crystals and ancient chinese medicine for their purported healing properties while eschewing iterative, peer-reviewed and research-backed science, you'll probably find a good yes-man with Ben. read more

Since I've been seeing Ben my back and shoulder tension has greatly subsided and I've felt an ease in my stress level! This was my first acupuncture experience, and at first I was a bit skeptical. But after my first session with Ben I was astonished with how quickly I saw results! I've been dealing with lower back pain and have been doing hot yoga and seeing a physical therapist for 2 years, but that just wasn't enough. I've been going to Ben for about 6 months now and I've had a great experience with him. I've only been to one other acupuncturist and this is very different! I liked her, but Ben uses bigger needles (don't be scared!) and it really makes a difference in the overall experience. Like many of the other reviewers, I've never had cupping before and it's somewhat intense but really great. Like getting a full-blown back massage in 10 minutes. An added bonus is that he just joined Regence as a provider so most of my visits are covered by insurance. Check your policies people! read more
