We hired NOR Design & Construction during the COVID-19 chaos and were a little nervous about people coming into the home but the entire process was made very smooth for us. Not only was every precaution used to protect our home, but masks were used, sign in sheets were used to keep track of who and when someone entered our home, a "wash station" was set up for employees to sanitize and wash their hands was in place, and a Port-o-Potty was set up so that no contactors wouldn't use our facilities. This is not an easy repair in the tight space of the condo. They had to remove a cabinet, cut out a square of drywall to access the door, instaill new tracks and rollers, plaster the drywall back, repaint, and reinstall the cabinet. The door works perfectly, the wall looks like new, and they and Brian, the owner of NOR, were a pleasure to work with and totally professional. Highly recommended.

The worker (Florin I believe his name was) pulled out the kitchen sink when all that was assessed by my home inspector was to simply clean / seal leaks, tighten various compression nuts or replace rubber ring gaskets. I eventually wanted to replace the sink anyways so I just went with it. He also was able to do on-the-fly soldering of copper tubing to replace / install the water heater's TPRV (Temperature Pressure Relief Valve) and drain tube. The experience cost more time and money for me but I am overall very impressed with AmyWork's professional services. I would employ their services again but be more mindful of the time.

At that meeting, we were told we needed to install flooring under the cabinets. After speaking with a contracting friend and two other companies, everyone said that was incorrect. This led me to doubt their professional knowledge and expertise. After the initial meeting, everything started going by the wayside. They missed appointments, were hard to get a hold of, and changed their story. We went from picking out materials to needing another appointment for the contractor to see the home. During the second appointment for measuring and seeing the home, they "measured" by measuring at an extreme angle. The contractor, in charge of demolishing our kitchen, demonstrated no knowledge in how to properly measure (it was NOT an area needing an angle to measure). That was concerning. They also didn't know the business hours of their own vendors. When we decided not to continue with FC Construction, they were honorable in giving us a refund. But when we called to remind them, the owner told us the refund was in the process. The next day, the main company line called and asked for our refund information to issue a refund. So it being "processing" was a lie. I didn't trust them to start any work, so I have no idea how their work is. But I wouldn't recommend based on the many red flags mentioned above. Kind people, though.

Every day my wife and I feel blessed by our new shower and how wonderful it is. My pictures do not do it justice. Last year we had a leak in the shower tile due to poor initial construction from 2006. This caused our ceiling in our dining room to blow out as the water leaked into it. We contracted Virgil to remodel the bathroom and then to repair the ceiling. Not only was the bathroom tile perfectly done along with painting, he was able to repair the ceiling in a way that is impossible to tell anything happened. I am OCD about this and every tile was perfect. Not one misalignment. I know because I looked at every line. As a note, to repair the ceiling, he had to take a section of the wall out and get a paint match. He then repaired the area and the paint matched perfectly. He also corrected bad construction and added space in our shower by removing an awkward tiled shower bench that was installed to cover up sloppy initial plumbing. He recentered the drain, fixed the piping, and insured we would have no issues 20 years from now by DOING IT RIGHT! The job took weeks to complete as expected and we got to know him and his crew. We quickly picked up on he is a man of great character and integrity. We left on vacation and allowed him to come and go through the house even though we were not home. And, what a delight his son was! Note the ceiling picture. There was a giant hole there and a large section of the green/brown paint was missing. In the pictures you cannot even tell there was a hole in the ceiling!! I would not hesitate on any remodel when it comes to Virgil and crew.

Nathan is by far the best general contractor I've worked with. This is my 4th major house remodel…read more I'm convinced Nathan's quality and meticulous attention to detail shows as the project gets bigger. Almost anybody can set a toilet, but I've seen Nathan do so many detailed finishes and find creative solutions to our demanding design that I'm not sure he has limitations. I like that, unlike most of the contractors we met with, I could shop around for my own finishes without his mark up. When needed, Nathan would use his contractor discount for us to purchase at cost. Nathan is also super easy to work with. Like any project, adding items after the scope of work is agreed on can significantly increase the price. After all, they are already in your house, they (the typical general contractor) know you aren't going to want to shop for a better price and it's going to make sure it's worth their inconvenience if they have to squeeze you into their already tight schedule. We are so lucky to have Nathan working with us. He did so many extra random jobs that required his skill but without the inflated cost. At this point, there's nothing I wouldn't trust Nathan to do, and for a reasonable price, as long as he told me he could do it. I'd pick him again without question and recommend him to friends.

First impression was that he hit the basics of…read morereliability: he answered my initial call, scheduled a time, arrived on time, and sent a bid the same day. We have a 1925 house and asked Nathan to replace all of the carpet and linoleum on the main floor with 18 inch porcelain tile. This included a sunroom, living room, kitchen, hallway, and bathroom. His bid was $2000 less than the other bids and he accepts credit cards. These were both deal breakers that, otherwise, would have prevented us from doing the project ... AND it included new, painted baseboards which the other bids did now. Additionally, other bids asked that we move all our appliances out of the kitchen and the move the toilet. We only have one bathroom. Nathan kept both our kitchen and bathroom fully functional throughout the whole process. It was always fun to see where the fridge would be when we got home from work each day! Nathan ran into a few snags. He had to raise the front door (you can do that?!), level out the sun room with cement, and work with very "wavy" tile. These set backs meant that rather than the estimated 5 business days, the project stretched to 8. He didn't charge us anything additional! He was more concerned with giving us a perfect floor than getting the job done quickly. Overall, we were 100% satisfied with Nathan's work and will call him for all future home needs!!
