The parking lot was huge and surrounded by tall trees. The shade is great on hot summer days. There is a big play area in the grove of trees behind the community center. You walk through an art-filled garden to get to the door of the community center. Upon entering, there is a bronze statue of books right in front of you. Pretty cool! Off to the left is a kids area where they have Tot Time and story time for kids (there is a small charge to attend). Off to the right is a desk with a receptionist. The dance class is in a large room with mirrors on one of the walls. Our instructor is a local gentleman in his 50's. Such a wonderful teacher. Only 4 couples signed up for the class, but we have a lot of fun despite small numbers. I am anxious to take more classes at the B.C.C.!

Walked in for a covid test the next day sat in a room for 40 minutes before being told all providers are booked and cannot do the test. Last I checked you didn't need a doctor to do a 15 second nasal swab? Also why didn't they just tell me they were booked before putting me in a room? Anyways, really frustrated and upset. Everyone there has been so kind and welcoming to me, even when I'm a little cantankerous, because I'm used to running the show wherever I go (head nurse/charge nurse/educator). Patient and tolerant when I'm at my worst, friendly and conversant when I'm at my best, they have softened the blow of what I've experienced since losing it all. My family joined to help my daughter form her own sense of Jewish identity which she started asking about when she was eight. She now has a sense of Jewish identity that would never have been so well formed had we not engaged with this community. And I have a much deeper understanding of my own relationship with Judaism. I'm Jewish because my father was Jewish and I choose to be a Jew, my mother never converted; they were both firm atheists. The Overbrook delicatessen was my temple, ritual language: Yiddish, ritual foods: lox and other smoked fish, ritual giving: Israel Fund - can on the counter next to the register. Humor was the practice. I've been teaching in the Shalom Sunday school for seven or eight years now and I love the inclusivity and diversity even within our own tribe. This is the place to be Jewish if you love the history, culture and holidays but don't like the irrational parts.

And I've found a community of like-minded secular Jews who feel like family to me.

He sent me to an investment firm ("we're all family here"), and proceeded with a three hour PowerPoint presentation and selling tactics for 3 Hours, wanting my retirement funds at a 1% interest rate QUARTERLY, to help me "navigate retirement ". My advice it's to not trust the social workers.
