BETWEEN PROVIDENCE & NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND Operating seasonally May 24 - October 14, 2019. $11 One way ($22 RT). Current schedule: * Departing Providence: 9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm * Departing Newport: 11:00am, 2:00pm, 6:30pm Our party of three greatly enjoyed the one-hour ferry from Providence to Newport. The ferry offers indoor seating and outdoor seating on the deck upstairs. The ferry provides great views, especially from the outside deck. It departed on-time in both directions. We took the ferry in September, and it was quiet on the 12:30 outbound, but very busy on the 6:30 pm return, coinciding with the end of the International Boat Show in Newport (the boat show was quite awesome). I would assume the ferry gets very busy in the summer months. Buy a ticket and get a reservation in advance. Their website says that "Seastreak is a leader in revitalizing fast passenger ferry services in the New York metropolitan area. We proudly offer high-speed catamaran services to points in Manhattan, central New Jersey, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and more with a fleet of robust vessels." And they also operate a seasonal ferry service between New Bedford and Martha's Vineyard. Instead of staying in Newport in the summer for example, you can stay in Providence and take the ferry to Newport for the Jazz Festival, Cliff Walk, etc. Assuming our trip was indicative of their typical service, we'd be happy to do this any time.

My boyfriend and I booked a ride and cancelled. Then we called last minute to honor our refund, in which they helped us easily over the phone. very enjoyable and happy!

I am pretty sure I have only taken about 2 Ferries my entire life and this was definitely one of the most comfortable ones I have ever been on. We had about 20 people on our Ferry and there was plenty of seating for everyone. Even had a table with seating in the middle for those who want to play games on the ride or catch up on work/study stuff while on the way to Newport, RI. Seating was extremely comfortable!! I can never fall asleep on any ride or vehicle. This ride I was so comfy, I passed the hell out the entire hour back to Providence!! Everything went smooth with the company and recommend this ferry to everyone!

PSA: if you are driving from northern Rhode Island to Newport and NOT taking this ferry, you're doing it wrong!!! Can't believe the time and money I have wasted in my truck... gas, bridge tolls, paid parking, traffic... its horrible... but not anymore! I recently discovered this ferry and will never drive to Newport again! We had horrible weather the day of our trip, but the high speed ferry still cut through the choppy water with ease. It felt less bumpy than a train ride! SO much better than we expected for the weather! We were so comfortable we even braved the rain and wind on the top deck for a few pics... and glad we did! The seats are wide and comfortable and are divided between the top outside deck and the inside. Where there is a small snackbar with cocktails (try the bloody mary!), too. Tickets are surprisingly super reasonable and parking is free in Providence... another win! We cannot wait to ride the ferry again (hopefully on a nicer day!) to get the most out of the stunning views. The ride is about an hour (less than driving!) and interesting the whole time. Give it a try!

This is a great way to get to Newport and avoid traffic. It takes 1 hour to get to Newport by ferry and is only $10 each way. It fills up fast on busy weekends so get tickets online before you go. Great views along the way. Both docks are conveniently located. India St is walking distance from downtown Providence but they do have a large fenced in property for autos. Not sure how secure it is so if you plan on parking call ahead. This is not a bad area but Providence does have a relatively high crime rate and the Mayor doesn't seem too concerned about it. The Newport dock is in the heart of Newport walking distance to shops and restaurants and a somewhat long walk to the Cliffs. Overall the service was excellent and well run on the day we used the ferry and runs late during the summer weekends.

I love Newport, but getting there can be such a nightmare. Beach traffic and tourists and expensive parking fees make me avoid going in peak season. Seastreak is now my hero and I hope they stick around PVD/NP. Now in their 25th day (well, 24th on the day I went), I would have thought they had been up and running for 25 years. Everything went so smoothly, from checking in and getting my tickets to boarding. Friendly, efficient and organized. We left only slightly after 10am and arrived in Newport slightly after 11am. The ferry terminal is small but offers free parking in an attached lot, porta potties, and a small ticket station. I purchased my ticket online for no additional fees. Regular adult tickets cost 20$ for round trip but they offer various discounts for seniors and disabled individuals. They also allow you to take a bike on for free and stow it for you as you board. I sat in the upper deck, which offered amazing views of the bay. They also have seating in a covered area and have a bathroom and small bar with alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The seating isn't super comfortable but it was adequate. Upstairs seating fills up fast so arrive early if you want to nab a spot. The Newport ferry terminal is in the main harbor, adjacent to the downtown area. There are bathrooms as you disembark and is a quick hop over to the restaurants and shops and a quick bike ride to Ft. Adams, Ocean drive, and the mansions. I seriously think that the addition of this ferry service is the most exciting thing that has happened since I have moved to Providence. I can now easily bike from my house to India Point Park, get on the ferry and be in Newport in no time. I hope that this sticks around for many years to come, because I think that it is a great boost for RI tourism.

It's kid-friendly, we got to stop at a picnic spot with a fire and beautiful views of the water and the Newport bridge. It was easy but exhilarating; definitely a unique experience and I highly recommend. We booked a week in advance. The check in process was seamless. We stopped at the scenic waterfront Bayside Station and there was a s'mores bar available while sitting fireside. The wood-burning fire pits kept us warm. After staying there for about 30 minutes, we pedaled back to the beginning. With the same group, the 4 of us did the Sunday Morning Brunch Tour/Bayside Brunch at 9am in August for $270. The weather was a lot better now than in April. We stopped at the scenic waterfront Bayside Station where we were able to use our 2 tickets for alcoholic drinks like Mimosas, Bellinis, and Bloody Marys. Death Wish Coffee and juice were complimentary. There were also complimentary muffins, danishes, and other pastries and fruit. Adirondack chairs were placed facing the water to enjoy the views. The 6 mile roundtrip tour is always an unforgettable experience. The staff are always very friendly and offer to take pictures to capture the memories. A brief instructional talk is always provided at the beginning and now they have a microphone so everyone can hear. Safety is of utmost importance.

Argia Mystic Cruises - Getting ready to go past the train bridge

We took a sunset cruise on the Argia, which is the last commercial sailing ship left in Mystic,…read morewhen we were visiting Mystic with a couple of friends on the Fourth of July. The boat has different seating options - wooden benches and cushion seats without backrests. We reserved two of the cushioned areas and showed up ready to check in on time (they ask you to show up about 30 minutes before boarding to check in). You board at the dock just next to the bridge in Mystic, so it couldn't be more convenient if you're exploring Mystic for a day or a weekend. The Argia allows you to bring alcohol (wine and beer) on board (although they ask that you not bring large coolers - there's no room for them), so we brought a couple of bottles of wine bought from the great wine shop down the street. The sail is partly narrated. Our sail was two hours long, and the staff narrated for some of the sailing time - pointing out historic and interesting sites along the sail (islands with an interesting history, homes with interesting architecture, etc.). Between the gorgeous scenery, some narration of fun and interesting facts about Mystic and its harbor, the great wine we'd brought aboard, and great company - it was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours in Mystic. What a beautiful way to enjoy Mystic and its harbor!

I am very conflicted about this review. This is a perfect example of why, I detest the fact that…read moreYelp doesn't do half stars. Because, in reality, I would love to give them 3.5 stars, but I have to go with 3. So let me go through my views. First, and foremost, the staff was/is great. There were only 3 of us on the cruise. Most other places probably would've have cancelled, but the fact that they still ran the cruise, I give them a lot of credit. Because there were only 3 of us, we also could sit wherever we wanted, so getting an upgraded seat for free was also nice. As I said, the staff was very friendly and informative and even offered to incorporate us in some of the simpler tasks. The ride was great, we had a lot of wind and it made the ride more enjoyable and it was a nice relaxing ride through the harbor (sound? Ocean?). Complimentary lemonade and water are offered and you are free to bring your own food/beverage on board if you want. There even is a brief history lesson during the trip. So, what was bad? Well, there was nothing necessarily bad, but rather disappointing. And this may very well be entirely on me. But, the view(s) were very underwhelming. There really wasn't much of anything of significance to see or view. No lighthouses, fancy/historic buildings, no seals/dolphins, just a very tranquil trip with no excitement or scenery. And, again, that maybe entirely on me. They don't promise or advertise any of that, but I was expecting to see more than I did. You also spend about 1/2 hour getting to and from the dock so of the 2 hour trip only about an hour is in the ocean. It's still a great time, and definitely a case of your mileage may vary. In the end, I think it's a great time but probably not worth the $75. If you can snag a Groupon or other deal to get for $50 or so, I'd do it, but I wouldn't do it again for $75. So in sum: Staff: 5/5 Value: 2/5 Views: 2/5 Overall: 3.5/5

I liked that she was dressed up in a costume and was a wonderful presenter. I've been on ghost tours before and this was my favorite! The tour starts in a park dedicated to the founder of Providence, Roger Williams. The park offers wonderful views of Providence. Especially at night! The tour will take you to several places in old town Providence. Some of the stops are the Athenaeum, AnnMary Brown memorial, a famous street in Providence that Edgar Allen Poe walked on and where some have seen his ghost. There are many more stops. You will do a good amount of walking and stopping. Dress weather permitting and be prepared to take plenty of photos! You may have the opportunity to capture a ghost like I did. I recommend reviewing your photos after you get back home and if you capture any ghosts in your pics, email Providence Ghost Tours. They will be happy to hear from you! Looking back on all the pics I took, it brought back a lot of memories from this tour. I was so happy that I attended this. Also, they offer a souvenir flashlight to purchase in addition to your ticket. The tour itself is so worth the money. Again, Kelly was great! Don't forget to tip your guide. They also offer Venmo.
