Ever wanted to be an audience member at SNL live in NYC ?…read moreForget about that if you are within 40 minutes of Rolfe Square in Cranston RI. For a number of years now, The Artists' Exchange has been putting on a One Act Play Festival in Rolfe Square during the summer, 50 Rolfe Square to be exact. This is a gem of a venue for some of the best comedy and fun theater anywhere. We have done lots of theater on Broadway in NYC and seen lots of big time comics, Stephen Wright, Nick Di Paolo, Emo Philips .... but at One Act it is all family friendly. The Artists' Exchange One Festival is up to the entertainment rivals cited. In the past three years we have gone, we have seen some great comedy and heart felt plays. Lauren Annicelli, Jessica Chace, Tom Chace, & David Kane who direct and act in the One Act Play Festival plays are top notch. Go and see them before they go to NYC or Hollywood. They are that talented. The same troupe put on a modern version of "A Christmas Carol" last Christmas season that was one of the best modern interpretations I ever saw. I have no affiliation , we were just lucky enough to have found this gem of a venue 3 years ago in a local newspaper and have been hooked since. Check it out, chances are it'll be a hoot.

Our child has attended OSMS for two years and is truly thriving. It's amazing to see how deeply she understands math, reading, and science. The staff is dedicated--many have been with the school for over 10 years--and they take a genuine interest in both the children and their families.

Sean the owner is a gracious host (plus he played in local ska heroes Big D & the Kids Table), his assistant Shanna is beyond helpful and kind with her time & the one teacher I interacted with Danilo is awesome too!! Shawn would have his lessons and improved greatly over his time there. We also got to watch young kids work on song writing, arranging and performing which was super cool to see!! I would recommend YOU ROCK for anyone that wants to play when if you have never tried before. They have summer camps for kids, adult classes, group classes, private lessons, recording studio, pod cast studio and even a performance area. Give Shanna a call or stop in and check it it for yourself!! A+++ great place, great people and a great mission to spread a true love of music.

We have been with Cadence Academy back when it was known as The Children's Workshop and have been with the Cranston location since 2016. As a single parent, child care - reliable childcare- is a huge component to making things work. Cadence Academy - Cranston is part of my village helping me raise my kids. The staff are extended family who love and support my two kids as such. The classrooms are super clean, bright, fun, really well decorated, safe, and well balanced when it comes to student-teacher ratio. They provide yummy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to the kids (even vegetarian options) included in the cost of tuition. Summer camp is very fun and pre-covid lots of entertainment was provided for the kids such as Kona ice on Fridays, Kid Bus, and friends from the zoo coming to teach the kids about animals. Daycare during covid was initially scary but there is no other place I trust to not only watch my kids while I work, but assist with distance learning than the staff at Cadence. As a response to Cranston's learning model this year, Cadence opened a beautiful classroom allowing for virtual learning. Each classroom has a "pod" system so if one person is exposed to Covid, that pod is closed down as opposed to the whole building. My second grader follows the hybrid schedule which means he goes to in-person school two days a week and three days at cadence. His grades haven't been significantly affected by this schedule and his IEP is supported by the staff. Overall, I would highly welcome those who are searching for quality, professional, friendly, reliable, and overall safe childcare to look into the Cranston location. My kids are 8 and 5 and I plan on having them there until they age out. Best of luck on your search!

Not only are the Director and staff great, the parents and children are also a pleasure. It's always a plus when parent-teacher communication is open and they appreciate and welcome any feedback from the parents. Any time there have been issues during the day with my child, or I have had any concerns, I received updates from the school and was able to call or email the school and would receive a prompt response. In addition, their curriculum from pre-school age up to school-age is phenomenal! For school age, they separate the kids that have homework and it gives the kids time to do their homework so that you don't have to go crazy when you go home! During the year they hold parent nights where the children can hang out and the parents can do their own thing for a few hours, and also invite parents in for celebrations as well! During the summers the program packs it with so many activities from visiting local pools and beaches to going to museums and parks! The Children's Workshop really keeps my mind and heart at ease while I am at work and they're almost always open!

My wife…read moreand I loved it so much that after spending a few hours here we grabbed some dinner and headed back to our hotel but then ended up coming back out for at least another hour or so. This is a totally free event where they light bonfires in the waterway and have live music, art installations and light shows. There were a lot of people but there was plenty of space so we didn't feel crowded. It starts around sunset and goes for hours. There are boats that travel along the waterway and tent to the fires, adding wood and making sure everything is safe and stays burning. They also offer gondola rides but you should book those in advance. It was very peaceful and romantic. It's completely outdoors so we brought our dog and many of the restaurants have outdoor seating where you can eat and enjoy the sights. There is also a street fair area adjacent to the waterway that offers food, art, jewelry, etc. We saw a glass blowing demonstration and music acts. That section was quite busy and we did feel a little crowded there. I had never really experienced anything like this before and I enjoyed it. I wish we had something like this where I am and if you're in the area and you see this event, you should definitely stop and check it out.

We had never been to anything like this or even really heard that much about it so we were interested to see what it was. WaterFire started about 30 years ago as an art installation that was meant to bring more people to the area and it definitely works. They light the braziers along the rivers, pipe beautiful music through the air and have volunteers on boats going from spot to spot, tending the flames and refilling the wood. There are tons of people there. Just walking and enjoying being outside and being together. The vibe is so relaxed and so peaceful but yet busy and exciting at the same time. It's kind of hard to describe unless you see it for yourself. We headed out around dusk when there was still light in the sky and it was a little chilly but I soon forgot about that. Words can't really express how you're just sort of drawn into the piece and beauty of this whole thing. I feel like this review can't even do it justice. We walked around for over an hour but our dog did start to get cold even though we had her in her jacket, so we headed back to where we were staying for a little while. Once it was dark and we were all warmed up, we headed out again because it was just so enjoyable to be there that we really wanted to come back. The second time we wandered through the street fair area and looked at some of the tables and street vendors. I got a really cool ring that was made out of a an old ornate spoon. There were also food vendors but everything was pretty busy so we ended up getting food on the way back to our hotel. There were families and groups of friends and couples, all just soaking in the magic and ambiance and ultimately we drifted back towards the water again because that is where the real magic is. We sat for a long time watching people float by in gondolas and watching the volunteers slowly push the boats through the canals, adding wood to the flames causing them to rise up. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood and strangers were chatting with each other. There was a real sense of community and peace. This was honestly one of the most romantic evenings I've had with my husband in a long time as well. We nuzzled noses and shared a few kisses to the music and the flame. If you are anywhere near Providence during WaterFire, don't even think about it just go. It's totally free! You don't need tickets or even to plan really. You can just enjoy the fire light and the music and being together in a beautiful place. It's absolutely unforgettable.
