I'm writing this review several months after being interviewed with this company because every time my experience with this crosses my mind, I still can't believe what a horrible experience it was.
They contacted me regarding a position in the legal field. I have several years of experience in the legal field, in marketing and as an executive assistant, to name a few. I've worked for multi-million dollar law firms and have been promoted several times. I was going back into the law field after a 1.5 year break pursuing a creative endeavor.
After taking a required test, apparently I tested high enough that Search Pros thought I would be a good fit for their company... Ok, I obliged, I guess I would be interested in considering that. But really, I was there to get a job back in the legal industry.
I was very forthcoming from the start about a misdemeanor on my record -- something that has never hindered me in the past, and something I have always disclosed.
Finally, after interviews with 3 different people (including 1 owner), I had my final interview with the other owner, Myla. I couldn't believe how patronizing, condescending and rude she was. She kept bringing up my misdemeanor and telling me how I would never be able to move up in their company, I could never work as a recruiter, because of my criminal record. She made me feel like I had just gotten released from a 10-year prison sentence. She snapped at me when I didn't answer a question the way she wanted -- my answer wasn't concise enough (because she made me feel so tiny and nervous!) She was so rude to me in a way I have never experienced during a job interview that my immediate reaction was to be snappy right back -- there's no way I'd ever want to work for this woman.
It really seemed that she enjoyed making me feel 2 feet tall for no reason other than her inflated ego and power trip. If that's her idea of a successful interview process, she could use a course or two in management. For a female owner who boasts so highly about being a woman who owns a successful company, she surely had no respect for other female professionals. If that's how she is with interviewees, she must be beyond abusive to her employees.
Moral of this story -- if you seek Search Pros assistance and they offer you a position within their company -- Say NO THANK YOU.
Not surprisingly, they never contacted me about the legal position that I initially was applying for. Regardless, I took another position a few days later I found through my own attempts -- thanks anyway, Search Pros. read more
