We boarded the boat which was new, clean and beautifully designed, plus it had SUPER comfortable seats.  Before we even left the local bay, we saw multiple whales and seals. We went to several areas to see more amazing whales, salmon jumping out of the water, otters and a waterfall! We were able to sit inside or go on the front or back decks for photos or to hang out a bit and observe the natural beauty around us. As a fellow nature lover, It was fun that Captain Gary was excited to see the whales as well even after having grown up in Sitka and seeing them many times before.  He was a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife and area, plus relaxed and easy going.  I appreciate the details about the whales names and that he recently found out how some were related. This was our favorite tour of our entire cruise, hands down.  We'll recommend Captain Gary's Sitka Adventures to everyone traveling to the area!

Our tour guide Brett took us to the Fortess of the Bear, the Raptor Center and the Park. Amazing centers that support the wildlife is such a great spot to visit. We had plenty of time to watch the bears communicate with one another and the staff at the centers. I also love that there are items in the gift shop that support the sanctuary so purchase those and know your purchase supports the wildlife. The Raptor center has amazing eagles, owls and other birds that are in need of medical help. Absolutely amazing to see them up close. The park has so much history on the natives, totem poles, and beautiful artifacts to see up close. If you're in Sitka I highly recommend you take this tour.

From our Cruise ship, we boarded a local bus (no charge/complimentary) to take us to the Chamber of Commerce meeting destination for the Wildlife tour. Very easy to follow instructions ;) We boarded the cargo mini van and Brett, our tour guide for the excursion began our Sitka adventure! The tour included visits to the Alaska Raptor Center, Fortress of the Bear Sanctuary, and the Sitka National Historical Park, featuring the iconic totem poles. Each stop offered a unique glimpse into the natural beauty and cultural richness of this incredible region. The Bear Sanctuary, is the highlight of the tour. The sanctuary is dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of orphaned and injured bears. Seeing these magnificent creatures up close was awe-inspiring. Our final stop was the Sitka National Historical Park, renowned for its impressive collection of totem poles. Walking through the park felt like stepping back in time. The totem poles, each with its own story, stood as silent sentinels of the Tlingit people's rich heritage. The park's trails offered stunning views of the surrounding forest and coastline, making it a perfect blend of culture and nature. Overall, this wildlife tour in Sitka was a remarkable adventure. The combination of breathtaking wildlife encounters and cultural exploration made it a well-rounded experience. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or simply seeking an enriching getaway, this tour is a must-do when visiting Sitka, Alaska. Highly recommended! The only negative, there should be an age restriction: Fellow Travelers brought their Toddler Girl, who cried the entire time, in and outside of the Van!. Super unpleasant and very hard to hear Brett speak about the sites!

Even though I live in Alaska and really didn't know what to expect and rarely go on tours, not sure why now. I met Kenyatta, the captain/tour leader at the dock and after a safety talk we headed out. We traveled for about 45 minutes across the Bay to where he has his crab pots in the water, we were blessed with a beautiful day. The whole way across he pointed out landmarks and had stories about each one. He knew so much about the culture and history of the area, it was fascinating. Upon reaching the buoys marking the pots he maneuvered the boat in a special way to allow him to gather the line safely, the whole time explaining what he was doing and why. We pulled five pots during the trip and he explained the whole process. Each pot had a different batch of crabs, some were mostly females, some mostly males, (I can sex crabs now). He explained why this might have been and why placement is important. One pot had over 25 huge crabs and all males (the only ones crabbers can keep). We reset all the pots with bait and headed back to the dock. I brought my binoculars on the trip and saw lots of wildlife, including a whale. The tour was great, the boat was large and very stable, I never felt queasy. Kenyatta is very knowledgeable and has a great personality adding to an overall fun afternoon. I'd highly recommend the tour and a stop at the crab tent after.

One of…read morethe highlights we remembered the most was the Whale Watching tour we had in Sitka from AK Crab Tour owned and operated by a young entrepreneur named Kenyatta Bradley. His passion for his job was reflected in every bit of history and culture he shared with us. His knowledge on whales' patterned behavior enabled us to enjoy our adventure to the fullest. Who knew that whales can be identified by the spots (or lack there of) on their tail? The tour he offers is the complete package; we were able to watch whales in their natural habitat (and sea lion and seals) and enjoyed a delicious crab feast (included with the tour), all at a really reasonable price. Thanks for making our vacation extra special, Kenyatta! Hope to return to Sitka in the near future and we look forward to another whale watching adventure with you.

Although the description mentioned speeds in excess of 50mph, our tour was more sedate. We did get lucky and saw a couple whales, but just the beautiful scenery would have made the tour worthwhile. The facility to suit up was extremely clean. The suits were clean and had no smell. That is where the good ends. Went o the dock. Met Captain Dave. Asked him if we would be going to the cave. No, way too windy. Would not be near it. We were going to focus on birds in the bay. You have got to be kidding me for $199 each. We went to an outcropping of rocks. We stared at star fish and two small birds for 15 minutes. Then he saw a whale. We went in that direction saw a little bit of the whales back. Dave said it was shallow do the whale would not dive deep so no fluke would be seen. 30 seconds later the fake came up, but naturally our cameras were away as we were told too shallow for the whale to dive that way. Dave waited about 15 minutes more for the whale to come up. No whale, he finally left. During this time very little talking. Very little boat movement. The raft was in silence. Then he goes to a small island we see what he says are otters. I think they were. We were so far away I am not sure. Then some more otters, we were so far could not see them well. Then some little bird with a red long beak that he was thrilled about. He then went by a black sand (volcanic) beach. A couple of eagles, and a nest that you could barely see. Then back to shore. We got undressed. A woman came up to the van driver and said something about being late. So they wanted our driver to go into Sitka. All of us were ok with that so she dropped up there. Our tour ticket says it started at 8. It was now 10:15. The tour was supposed to be 1 1/2 hours long so they ended our tour early. Extremely boring. No thrills-----none. Not a little bit. If you have ever been on a lake in a speed boat---way less thrilling than that. Boring. Thank god he ended it early. Not what was described and paid for. Holland America said how people passengers and crew love the tour in other words--too bad so sad you wasted your money. No love here. Very tame, extremely boring ride. Nothing to recommend it except hat the gear was in good clean condition
