Village 28 is open for dinner from Thursday to Saturday. There were four of us who went last Thursday excited to try out the newest place in town, and we weren't disappointed. Fortunately, we immediately got the lady available table situated nicely at the front window. We were not the only people checking the place out! There are multiple seafood options, and seafood isn't something our town, and we all opted for seafood. Our friends both had grilled shrimp and loved it. My wife had the fried oysters. I got the surf and turf with a ribeye and fried oysters. The steak and oysters were perfect. As much as I want to get the flounder next time, it's hard to pass up great fried oysters! All of our meals came with a salad bar, and we were all happy with the selection and freshness. We were also given complimentary hush puppies instead of bread, which we thought was a nice change. The restaurant's liquor license was just issued, so they didn't have wine yet, just beer and White Claw. The ladies had one each while my friend and I each had an ice cold Red Oak. For dessert, we tried the hot fudge cake and the cheesecake. The hot fudge cake is a light, fluffy, and delicious made from scratch cake. They are not slices but rather small loaves. Our wives both loved them. The name is The name is deceiving, though, because there's no hot fudge. The cheesecake was plain with no topping but nice and creamy. This will definitely be a place we add as a regular place to eat. My change next time will be another Red Oak instead of dessert. Highly recommend

They have fresh tamales here occasionally, so we are sure to grab some when we're lucky enough. They also have fresh cornbread almost always available. Beside the meat department is a tall selection of various sweet breads. We have tried them all, and you can not go wrong no matter what you choose. Additionally, they have a well stocked, large selection of Hispanic groceries and some vegetables. Beside them and connected with a doorway in a shared wall is a Mexican restaurant.
