It's a fish shack---please do not expect anything else!! FYI: 2 Benches, no indoor seating. Crabby is very friendly and the seafood is super fresh. You order at the window--you can even pick your lobster. He then steams it for you and serves it in a big tray with some claw crackers---delicious!! Here's what we had: Steamed soft shell clams--big and tasty--Amazing! Clam Chowder--This is PEI so you can expect fresh clam chowder. This one was fresh, hot and flavorful.--Yummy 2- 1.5lbs lobsters--fresh, huge, meaty and delicious--need I say more! BYOB since this is a seafood market he does not sell beer. The advantage of getting flour here is that you know the flour is just flour. If you read the ingredient label on a package, there are all kinds of things like ascorbic acid and other stuff they put put in for various reasons. It's good to know that the stoneground flour is just that with nothing else in it. Sunflower also has other specialty items like Dutch processed cocoa, potato starch, and hemp seeds, in case you want that kind of stuff. I will be going there regularly to get flour to feed my starter from now on.

Located in good-sized building along Westville Road, The Pork Shop has a handful of large coolers packed with tons of different sausages (the usual suspects plus cool ones like donair and curry that I'd love to try), many different cuts of pork, a few types of bacon (including the all-to-rare peameal bacon), and beef and chicken for people that aren't s big of fans of pork as I am. Shelves of dry goods to go with your meat line the walls - local jams, honey, sauerkraut, etc. Their website is really great too, listing all of their carnivorous options as well as descriptions of each. Much to my own chagrin, I don't live nearby and don't have a car, so transporting meat is a bit of a hassle/major heath concern. As such, the only meat I've yet tried is my dad's favourite, their marinated capacola pork chops. Luckily for me, it's a damn fine marinade and the pork chops turn out great on the grill - even when my dad, who's infamous for overcooking chops, does them. This may have a bit to do with their hefty thickness, so they're harder to dry out entirely. The flavour is rich and peppery, and I'm guessing the red tint is from paprika since there isn't a spicy hit to them. Get these, grill them up, and openly laugh in the face of those who think beef reigns supreme. On one of my visits back I just may have to load up a cooler with ice packs and smuggle some sausage and bacon back to the city with me. PS. watch out for the horrible potholes in their gravel parking lot.

I tried posting messages on their website, where there's a messaging area, but NO REPLIES. When I check UPS Tracking, it has been in the "In transit" status since Oct. 22nd. I've waited 4 MONTHS for my order, that included all holiday presents, and still no order. Even from Canada, I would have thought that by placing my order in August, it would arrive by Thanksgiving. I understand UPS shipping delays, but the least this company can do is communicate updates with their customers. I've tried to CANCEL my order, but finally received a reply today (after posting a negative Facebook review), that they cannot process my cancellation or refund request because "the order has already shipped". But, WHERE IS IT? I really wanted to support this family-owned business, but feel like they either just neglect their online orders, or are running a scam!

Tucked into the neighbourhood beside Victoria Park, this place is a gem filling in the gaps from the chain grocery stores more north and offering some fresh local and both domestic and imported artisan goods. The owners are just the most friendly and sweetest people bringing a very homey and loving vibe to all the products. So much middle eastern selection too! Fine oils and spices, eastern baked treats, and a ton of dried goods like beans and rice. They have a great selection of island produce and meats/dairy coming straight from the farms into the coolers. The freezer also features some of their own falafel or local made meal items. The aged Island cheeses and dips are fantastic too. Something real special here is the small selection of baked goods from Montreal including Fairmont Bagels!!!! I love the Markouk unleavened bread and can't wait to go back for some baked treats or baklava! Oh yes, I will indeed be a regular here!!
