Helloooo My Darlings…read more..
It's the tail end of Labor Day Weekend and the end of the Jersey Shore 2026 tourist season is mere minutes away. As Your Host reflects upon the past weekend, the thought of a good deed came to him: how about a review of Little Mac's, located near the Arnold Avenue entrance on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk? Seems like a great idea and fellow Yelpers/Yelpettes may find it resourceful.
Let me say at the outset that Mac's ain't a bad place and the fare is decent, for boardwalk grub, despite a 2-star rating. We found it somewhat enjoyable, but it could have been better. The place is popular and draws a crowd, but it ain't cheap (but then again with the economy...) Let's dive in and talk about the deets...shall we?
What they do well: there is a nice variety of decadent, unhealthy grub to indulge in here between sandwiches, burgers, dogs, pizza, etc. Taking it a step further, the variety of pizza is impressive. I went in that direction (chicken parm slice, for the curious). For hubby, it was a sausage, onion, and peppers hero and fries. Ordering was a snap, and they take all methods of payments, including cash. The cardboard trays to carry large-ish orders is nice, and there is plenty of seating, so props there. But, like with all things, there are some caveats...
The time between putting in the order and picking it up can be lengthy. The fries were lukewarm and limp, and the pizza was just above room temperature. Be that as it may, the pizza is still better here than what you'd get if you were getting it in another state. Let's be honest: Jersey pizza is superior even at room temperature. That's just a fact. The sandwich was mediocre. Not bad, per se, just mediocre.
As stated earlier, it's not a bad spot for boardwalk grub, so I wouldn't avoid the place. It's my hope that Mac's Powers That Be can figure out some possible improvements to keep the food hot and tasty when you pick it up.
Give 'em a check out, and get back to me...
