When we tried to return it, they insisted on store credit only. We insisted they only sell authentic branded product. Owner refused so we are escalating with DE Dept of Consumer Protection and encourage others to do the same. Way to rip off kids! read more

Huge shops with tons of souvenir-shop trinkets...home decor items, magnets, pictures, frames...just about everything. Lots of candy and snacks including home made fudge...lots of flavors. Very tight aisles though...not much room for maneuvering...especially when the tourist crowds (families of 5+) start coming in. Be mindful of larger backpacks, strollers and toddlers/children. I am here to talk about the fudge. All the fudge is top-notch. But my personal favorite is the mint chocolate fudge. I cannot get enough. Even a week or two later and it is still delicious. The store is really neat with all of the beach themed treasures, but the fudge is dynamite. My kids love the pirate when you first walk in. Keep up the great work. Stuff for the house, stuff for the beach, pirate themed stuff, maritime themed stuff, tons of seashells, stuff for your Hermit Crabs, and some of the best fudge you'll ever taste. They've been around since 1953, and walking through their massive store is a real trip and a half. Aisle after aisle of key chains, lighthouses, shot glasses, souvenir magnets, mugs, plates, wall decor, foods, shells, lamps, hermit crab cages, clocks, clothing, necklaces, bracelets.... well you get the idea. And then there's their fudge -nearly 30 varieties of outrageously great fudge. We picked up a slab of Amaretto Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cup and they were fantastic. We had a blast just walking around to take in the spectacle of how much stuff they manage to cram into the store. I bet you will too. read more

Very rude owner/staff, they refused service to several shoppers. Will no longer shop there or play mini golf there again

We always pass this store on the way to OC MD and I've been curious about it. We started going to the smaller one in Rehoboth by the beach a few years ago and I've bought a lot of things from there. We decided to stop by this location this year since we were trying to kill time and we went in another store across the street also. I definitely liked this store better than the other one- more room to move around as it's bigger and it's easier to find things. I bought a light up crab shack sign, and a glass wall crab plaque. I love crabs! Haha. The cashier was also really nice and spent a lot of time to fully bubble wrap AND put tissue paper over top of that fragile crab- which was needed cause my husband drives crazy. They even were giving out free samples of fudge. The dark chocolate caramel sea salt was really good. I was going to get some at the other location when we went later in the week but it was too crowded there and didn't really get a chance. This is going to be our new tradition to stop at this store every year on the way down to OC MD! read more

My husband and I stopped at the store on a Saturday morning. They have lots of "beachy" items at many price points. We were in there for 20 minutes and the only customers in the store. Not once did any of the 4 employees (that we saw) say hello or ask us if we wanted any help. Every 2 feet there was a sign that told you that you were under surveillance for shoplifting and signs that you could ride in a police car if you shoplifted. I get it - but very overdone . Our family has vacationed at Rehoboth twice and each time visited this store to pick up shells and browse all the unique items they have for sale. We have hermit crabs at home so we always like to stock up on shells for the year. The aisles are narrow so really only one person and walk without bumping into something. Beware with the littles as they have breakables. read more

This place is a MUST every time we come to visit Rehoboth! Yes, they have sea shells - but they have much, much more than that! Lamps, pillows, platters, toys, lights, books, statues, beach decor, and fudge! Make sure you ask for a free sample! It's super hard to choose which favor, but you can always do what we did - go back every day to sample something new, and then decide. Friendly people who help you find the perfect souvenir to bring some of the beach home with you. I actually found a really nice knit pillow, that depicted a scene of the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, with Dollies in the background; nostalgic. Don't feel like shopping? Go play mini-golf! However some staff were very rude i believe her name was mary and one employee introduced me to her as the manager after an inquiry about a product, she was very short tempered and as i asked questions she seemed angry and inconvienced that i had been shopping there after my conversation with her she sent an employee who i thinks name was "will" to help me retrieve wrap and check me out etc etc he was very polite using mannerisms such as sir and mam to my husband and I. We then remebered we had forgot a crucial item a hermit crab for our daughter he had also helped us with that being polite to other customers while also paying attention to us mainly he had eventually got us situated with everything he thought we needed for our hermit crabs to have a happy life (which was more than we had hoped lol he was a very good salesman) but after all that he rung us up i was compelled to look at the jewelry in which i noticed very shadily priced items for their quality and make. But i had found a necklace i wanted to check out but once again we ended up with mary this time she was even more rude and even talking back to us as if we physically hurting her by asking her to open a case. Me and a few friends shopped around in here after we played the shops miniature golf course outside. They have a fantastic selection of coastal items. This place is great for getting fun gifts for people, or even yourself. I tried a sample of their fudge, which they have tons of flavors of, and it was delicious! I would love to go back and get some! Me and my friends were there for quite a while, overwhelmed by choices, and I mean that as a good thing! 99.99 percent of the store was coastal themed merchandise, which all seemed to be high quality. The store is a bit crammed in certain areas, but it's not a huge deal. I would love to go back sometime! read more

Let's be clear about one thing. This is not the kind of place you come for tasteful, understated furnishings for your million-dollar beach home (2nd St. in Lewes is the place for that). The Sea Shell Shop is, however, a lot of fun. This is a huge, one-level store that is hard to miss if you're driving past it on U.S. 1. Adjacent to it is a fun mini-golf course called Shell We Golf (horrible pun, but in keeping with the shell theme) with the requisite water features, caves, etc. The store itself is stuffed full of just about every beach trinket you can imagine, from shells that you would never find on any Atlantic beaches, to the ubiquitous woven sailor bracelets, to plastic, beach-themed dinnerware and signs. Their fudge, although I've never tried it, seems to be popular with the tourists. They also carry nautical-themed Christmas decorations, and in the back corner is a fun kids' area full of the kind of plastic junk the kiddies tend to have tantrums over when you say no to it. On the downside, their prices are somewhat high for what it is. A recent example - some candy shell decorations that could be used on a cake or as a garnish - $8.99 for a tiny jar. Even $4.99 would be high for something like this, so $8.99 seems crazy. A tiny bag of those polished rocks the kids tend to like is $29.99. No, that is not a typo. $29.99. That said, this store is a must-stop whenever we visit the Rehoboth area. You can find other locations (including on the main drag in Rehoboth), however the U.S. 1 store is the most impressive, in terms of sheer size. My 11-year-old has loved this store since he was a toddler, and it's so much fun to look around. Definitely worth checking out, just make sure you feel what you're buying is actually worth the money. read more

Ginormous gift shop and mini golf in one? I'm sold! I think it was $7 or $8 for unlimited mini golf. You could go around as many times as you wanted! We had a group of 8 and split up into 4 and 4 to play 18 holes. There was a nice variety of easy, medium, and difficult holes so that made it fun and entertaining when we had pro mini golfers mixed with first timers. Also, I loved that there was plenty of seating at every hole. I'm lazy and I like to sit and watch while other people golf instead of leaning on my putter once I've gone. It was a pretty course with lots of foliage and water features. Overall, it was a great experience! We didn't look around the shop too much but it was jam packed with everything from those keychains with your name on them to decor for a beach house. read more

This is the place for any sea lover! They have everything but let me just tell you their fudge is phenomenal. We never eat fudge but they gave us a sample and we ended up buying more than a pound of all different kinds! My favorite was the coconut, my husbands was the marshmallow in dark chocolate but we both tied our second favorite with dark chocolate caramel with sea salt! They should name this place the "Shell Fudge Shop". After gold, we went in here, got a pound of the bady tiger butter fudge, Lets just say, we were back before we left to get more for home. The golf course is great and the store looks very interesting too but the antagonistic attitude the store and employees take towards guests make this a less enjoyable place to visit. My family and I have no inclination to steal $1 knick knacks and don't enjoy seeing signs every 2 ft implying that we do. Our three yr old daughter took her golf ball for miniature golf right before I'd paid and the clerk made a rude comment about her putting it back. We live in chevy chase, md and have spent many $1000s to rent a beach house for a week. We have no interest in stealing golf balls or trinkets. this store is wonderfully tacky. it's full of everything you could find in the stores on the boardwalk. from $2.99 plastic pirate swords (which I found awesome, by the way) to $1,500 shells and wooden boat models. I loved the signs and the sculptures, but everything was very overpriced, like most beach stores. but, this is a must-stop if you are down in Rehoboth. read more

This place has great mini golf but not much else. They had 18 hole mini golf. It was 8 dollars. I went on a crowded Saturday night. I was stuck in a line behind multiple groups before I even got to hole 1. If you go during a busy time your game will involve a lot of waiting. The shell shop was nothing but cheap nic-nacs. It had a very small section of Christmas ornaments and beach themed lamps. It had fudge but it looked like it had been sitting there a while. They also served ice cream. But there are much better places to get ice cream in Rehobeth. read more

I was gift shopping and spent the better part of 20-25 minutes browsing the store. With my final selections, I approached counter, the clerk rang me, and when I handed her my debit card she said their machine was down and they could only accept cash. I understand technology fails at times, but to simply state that machine is down and offer no additional suggestions or courtesies is unacceptable customer service. She just keep repeating the same single line - the machine doesn't work. The basis of any sales position is to be friendly and helpful. She could have offered to hold my items and directed me to the nearest ATM; she could have written down or taken a carbon copy of my card and processed my sale later; she could have said "I'm sorry." A business of this size with two locations should have contingency plans in place if power is out or other technological problems. After leaving the premise, reflecting on my shopping experience, I remembered that I passed personnel on the floor a few times and not a single one made eye contact, offered me assistance or displayed any type of friendliness. I liked some of the novelty finds here, but I'll have to think twice before coming back. read more

Awesome place with a lot to look at.. Last night I purchased two large hermit crabs, they are thriving and awesome. Today I went back, purchased three smaller ones. Today when I was there, an overweight Caucasian lady that worked there pushed through me without saying 'excuse me' or anything, then she was up front behind the counter yelling at an employee about a schedule error. If you want to yell at your employees, don't do it in front of customers because I wasn't the only one who saw/heard it. Then there was an overweight Caucasian guy behind the counter barking orders to employees which seemed pretty rude too, beings he didn't seem to have much to do..
