*Update*-we received a very nice reply back from the owner (John) and he apologized to us. We accept his apologies and will be back for service but it was good that we brought the issue up to his attention. Thank you, John! We want to complain about your bad service. First of all, we called twice and you gave us wrong information. The first time I called and asked about the smog check for our C-Class RV you told me on the phone the price would be $68 and we would get the 20% discount as promoted on your website. You also said we can come in every day. The second time my husband called as he had another question, then you told him we can only come in on Sundays for RVs. When we came in yesterday, an older Asian man serviced your shop and was totally unfriendly to us. When we told him about the $68 and 20% discount you promised us on the phone, he acted completely rude and did not want to service us any more. So we told him how unfriendly he was and that he could explain the prices in a calm tone and not just deny service to us. So he serviced us but wanted to charge us $89.75. In the end he gave us a $10 discount as I told him right in the face how rude and unfriendly he was. We were totally offended. No other smog check shop has even been rude or unfriendly. I read all the reviews, I had been here before, not a problem. This time, I could see why all the awful reviews. I came here in the morning, already a sign that says be right back, it was going to be 45 minutes so I came back the next day. Came early again, sign says be back, I went to Walmart spent an hour there. Came back ANOTHER sign , Be Right Back! Well I didn't "Come Back" and never will. I went looking for one on Soledad,cost only 45.00. Was out in 10 minutes. I know the manager will get on a say Sorry, but he has been saying Sorry for quite sometime by reading all the reviews. I called on the phone to ask about getting a smog check for my car. The guy seemed really nice said the regular cost was $68 dollars which I thought seemed pricey for a smog check and he offered me $20 off so $48 total. I asked him if I could come now and wait he said yes it would only be 10 minutes. When I got there he was no longer polite said it would be at least a 45 minute wait. He said I could come back later and then told me he is the busiest shop in SVC so what should I expect. I definitely did not go back!! Had he been as pleasant in person as on the phone of course I would have waited!!! read more

So disappointing. I've been coming here for close to 20 years. Brought my SUV in for a smog with both the location and a competitor's coupon. The guy said he was going to have to change the price to match the competitor because it was "a big chunk". I said that is not what the coupon states. He kept just saying that there was an added fee and that he was just an employee. Horrible customer service! Does NOT honor Competitors coupons as it clearly states. read more

I waited until the last minute to get my car smog-checked... my husband had a good experience with SCV Smog in the past, so I stopped in (without an appointment). I only waited a few minutes before my car was seen. The person who helped me, Alex, was quick, nice and professional. I'll definitely come back here next time! 1/20/20- This is my second time coming to SCV Smog. I came a couple years ago and remembered having an easy experience. Honestly, I had to take a breath before writing this review, I was we so incredibly upset after coming here. Maybe don't be a woman if you're coming in? Because my car wasn't passing smog, and the three times I came in, no one was able to tell me what I should do next to get it diagnosed or anything. I was told "drive it 50 more miles" then when I came in again "drive it another 100 miles" then when I came in AGAIN, they said "oh somethings wrong but it's complicated and hey drive 300 more miles and maybe it'll be ready" like what??? I know my car is 15 years old, but they were so unwilling to actually direct me on how to get this fixed or diagnosed or anything. When I went to another shop and told them what had happened, they were horrified. I can go on about the actual interaction, but it comes down to if you have an older car, I wouldn't recommend coming here because they will be incredibly unhelpful. Update: I was not mad because my car didn't pass smog, I was upset because I received no diagnostic suggestions or reasons as to what was wrong with my car and why it wasn't passing smog. They immediately treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about, even though I continually explained the history of my codes and the maintenance and repairs that had be done to resolve them. They didn't work with me to actually better understand the problem. And for the record, I had put 600 miles on my car in two weeks to have enough data. But alas, they did not listen to me or work with me to figure it out, i was just continually told "it's complicated". But when I took it to a different shop close by it passed? Who knows. I would have just appreciated if the staff was knowledgeable enough to point me in a direction and actually listen to me. Maybe I'm asking too much and that's outside their jobs, I'm fully willing to admit that and say that's ok, but then they should have advised me on who to ask then. read more

I brought my vehicle here and it failed smog. They didn't want to give me any additional information beyond the failing codes, and quoted me $220 to troubleshoot. I took it to a different mechanic and they repaired it for about the same price that this place wanted to charge me to troubleshoot. I brought it back for retest and at first they were busy, then they told me it hadn't been driven enough, but it had and after finally getting them to retest it the vehicle passed. I'm giving them two stars since they were able to get the job done, but I won't go back here again. read more
