Beware. They start out great but we now have a giant hole in the ground where our replastered pool should be. The demo and waterline tile are done and it hasn't been too bad except they won't return our emails, they won't schedule the last phase and a project that was 5 weeks is who knows how long because they won't get us on the plaster schedule and right now we are told it is 2 months out and no way to schedule us for some reason. Weeks of asking to get scheduled with no response. I have included the owner in our communication as well so this isn't just about one person, this is clearly a company thing. I highly encourage you to look elsewhere. Add to the fact that we don't have a pool they have left equipment etc here so I'm sitting on my lanai in a robe and at 6:45am my dog barks like crazy and it is the employees wanting to pick some stuff up. Has happened two of the last three days. The list goes on with all the frustrating things happening with this company. Did I mention food has been left out including a chicken bone we only discovered because our dog was trying to eat it? read more

We entered into a contract with SCV Pools in October 2022. Shortly thereafter, we were told the company had been sold to a new owner. The company changed names to Hawaii Pools. There have been many safety and quality issues associated with the pool and the work is not complete. These issues include, but are not limited to: 1. Lack of responsiveness to many issues for months, unclear chain of command, conflicting information despite repeated phone calls, emails, and texts. We were told by the new project manager Keith that he doesn't check his voicemails. 2. Repeated delays in getting the work done. Workers were frequently pulled off the job to work on other jobs. No schedule was provided despite multiple requests, of when workers would be on site. Workers left their equipment on site, and on more than one occasion came at 6:00AM to get their equipment to bring to another site. 3. Quality issues associate with the work, including drainage problems, no autofill installation as of yet, issues with the spa, workers asking the homeowners how the drainage should be done, frequent lack of supervisors on job site. 4. Safety issues including sidewalk cut and left open, a delay in ordering and lack of fencing to date. 5. Messy and unprofessional work site including leaving bottles and cans at site, lack of provision of toilet facilities from SCV to workers resulting in neighbors complaints about workers peeing openly on the property. When brought to the SCV's attention, they finally provided a portapotty. 6. Incorrect billing on more than one occasion. read more

HAWAII POOLS the absolute worst of my 3 pool builds. Comments here with 1 star (too bad can't do less) are right on with my experiences starting October 2023. I refused to pay the last installment due to inferior plaster work. I offered to pay once the job was really DONE! They balked but have since disregarded any further effort to fix. 50% labor went to another company leaving unqualified non-caring labor who shows up when their mgmt doesn't arbitrarily pull them off to another job. I've had 3 project managers in 7 months and the owner has no involvement but refers to the project manager. The ones I've had could care less about my issues as there appears to be much infighting. So far this started with not meeting the original design spec, not delivering aerators, pool bench returns are misaligned, step tiles were put down with oozing white mastic where the plaster will not adhere, deck drains into the pool that caused damage to the plaster after a rain during application leaving long white streaks in the bottom that can not be fixed, incorrect reporting pool equipment items for warranty leaving me to fix with no support, never did give me the salt water pool in contract nor showed me how to operate equipment, my list goes on and on. 1 star comments here I can attest are the same in my case as well. If you question anything here, I urge you to come see for yourselves. I've pix, emails, documentation to support what is said here. Litigation appears to be the last resort but don't expect they care. They talk a good line but then RUN AWAY from HAWAII POOLS! The picture attached is only a small example of their lack of quality/craftsmanship. read more

Hawaii Pools - Result of pool plaster job - Pool & Hot Tub Service Near Me - Kailua-kona, Hawaii

Too bad Yelp requires you to select a "star at all. We entered into a Contract with Hawaii Pools just after their transition from SVC pools, March of 2023. a horrible experience from beginning to end, May 2024. Actually the "ordeal" is still ongoing we just got upset to the point of fixing/completing outstanding issues by ourselves. We can not say one good thing about the whole experience except there were some great subcontractors, but you better be versed in several languages to communicate with them, the people they work for sure can't. Read other reviews by Nohea K, Stacy G, and Fred C below. We went down their same roads and then some. We would have been much better off overall, including $ wise, to build ours owner/builder and we did not know what the term "bond beam" referred to in the pool world at the beginning. We learned. Oh, neither did the Hawaii Pool Owner. Do your research well before starting a project with anyone, we did not, but that one is on us. read more

Update: pool was finally finished 8 days short of 9 months. Within a few weeks we already have 4 coping blocks that are cracked. We understand concrete eventually cracks, but seriously 4 blocks within a months time? There are several other things we are trying to have taken care of by SCV such as a damaged vinyl fence post, gunite that was left all over our vinyl fencing, damaged trex decking we had to replace, a new 8' step ladder and we also had to repair the ruts that were left in our newly sodded front yard. Steve is really no wanting to take care of any of these issues. When you're paying $86k for a basic pool I expect all issues to issues to be resolved. He states that it is subcontractors that did it, but he somehow doesn't remember all payments are made to him. read more

Excellent service and quality. Very professional. We love our beautiful pool, jacuzzi and rock walls. They were able to design and build on a very difficult lot. Highly recommend. read more

If we could give SCV 10+ stars we would! We did shop around and were not satisfied, until we met with Steve. Steve and his crew are top notch. Steve is honest and upfront with you each step of the way. He will look at your plans and tell you the truth and offer suggestions to make your pool the best it can be. He has been doing this for so long and you can tell. We put our trust in him 110%. Our dream pool turned out absolutely beautiful! Steve is honest, trustworthy, and very creative. He also gave us our pool at a very fair price. We feel they are the best pool company on the island. Look up SCV and see for yourself! Just can't say enough good things about SCV! Thank you Steve and SCV for making our dream pool come to life! We LOVE it! read more

What, there arn't 15 stars available? If there were SVC Pool and Spa would get all 15! When he first came out and looked at our pool he was direct and to the point. He also made a point of telling us that he took pride in quality work. He was true to his word. Steve and his crew resurfaced our aging pool. It was quite large and we were afraid that it would not get finished in the alloted time, which would have cost us a bunch of money. It was completed on time with no hidden costs. His crews were amazing. They were such hard workers and particularly careful to make sure all was done well His office manager, Susie, was also great. She reassured my husband and I each step of the way and answered all of my questions. The pool is beautiful. We are so happy with the finished product. Thank you, Steve and your crew! read more

We recently finished our new home that included a pool that was built by SCV Pools. Our builder subcontracted with this company and therefore, we did not have any previous relationship with this company. ( Please note that my past experience with pool companies has not been positive.) Now that we have moved into our new home, we have plenty of experiences with which to draw from and lots of comments about the many vendors and subcontractors that were used to build our new home. Most were about what you would expect from these kinds of small businesses and subcontractors . However, rather than complain we want to highlight the top 3-5 businesses that stood out among this large list. SCV Pools is in our top 5 and easily "made the cut". By way of background, this company builds exquisite pools, decks, spas with creative, artistic design work. While our budget did not allow for the higher end products, we were still treated as though we were building their best. Don't get me wrong, we have a well-designed, lovely pool with infinity edge and wet deck. Why am I taking the time to write a review and give a 5 star rating? Simple. These are pool professionals that know what they are doing, show up when they say they are going to be onsite, and stand by their work. (Unfortunately, we cannot say this about many of our other subcontractors.) Steve, Robin, and Mariam were quick to reply to our inquires, questions and emails. We would highly recommend SCV Pools to others who are planning to build. read more
