I've tried venturing out to other hair dressers/salonists, but their haircuts just don't hit the same as Amy's. She's so kind, meticulous, cares about the type of style/haircut you want/how you want it to grow out, knows the importance of each individual's hair texture and how the haircut will look, etc. You know how some hair dresser's haircuts can be a hit or miss depending on the day ... well Amy's haircuts ALWAYS make me feel fabulous after. Also to note, my haircuts from Amy always grow out really nicely !! Not only does your hair look great after the fresh haircut, but throughout the course of its growth before it's time for your next one! I clearly can't rave enough about Amy. Apologies that I've never tried getting a haircut from other hairdressers here, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? I don't play when it comes to my haircuts, and Amy's where it's at ! :) Thank you so much Amy! Not to mention, haircuts are only $25 (as of 4/14/21) here !! SO worth.

Right now I am doing a hair massage 3 times a week to save my hair for falling. There is lots of fishy going out at this place once I was done I went to pay I see a big payment machine where they accept all the " payment cards" but guess the lady told me to pay with cash where I didn't carried and than she told me to go to the next door store to cash out money and pay her. I've been going to the Twins Hair Salon on Solano Ave for about 17 years. Mary Miranda has always…read morecut my hair. I cannot speak highly enough of Mary and Margaret. Like most women, I fuss and worry about my hair, and I trust very few people with my haircuts. I went into the Twins Hair Salon initially in the early 90's because I'd heard through the Solano Avenue grapevine that they were wonderful hairstylists, nice people, and that their prices were awesome -- lower than average. I haven't gone anywhere else since to have my hair cut, except for the one period of time I lived out of state -- and I missed Mary's haircuts! Now I worry when the day comes that Mary and Margaret retire and I'll have to go to someone else -- it won't be easy. From the first haircut, I didn't have to say much because Mary understood what I wanted in a cut. I've had mostly the same style all these years, long, mostly layered cuts, which I wear down, parted to the side. My hair is fine and wavy, and I can't wear it too long or too short. I've never been disappointed in any of Mary's cuts. My experience with other hairstylists from prior to going to the Twins Salon was that even when I carefully described how I wanted my hair to look, the average stylist didn't really listen, and wanted to work out their artisitc ideas on my hair, so I often left disappointed or even upset with many of the haircuts I've received. Mary was such a refreshing change from that. She listens to how I describe I want my hair to look, down to whether I want 1/2 inch off on the top layers, 2 inches off on the length, and a touch less on the sides, or something like that. She gives me the exact cut I desire -- that's true professionalism. Both Mary and Margaret are a pleasure to visit and be around. No matter what the weather or whatever may be going on in their lives outside of the salon, they have a cheerful atmosphere in their little salon. (They are tucked in the back of the beauty supply store, so not visible from the store front) They're friendly without being "too chatty" as some stylists can be, and they show a genuine interest in their clients' lives. Their prices are competitively lower than average -- a real godsend in these tough economic times. One thing, because they have such a loyal following, they often can't pick up the phone or return calls same day; but no worries, they can always fit you in. It's best to keep trying, or if you live close by (as I do) drop in to schedule an appointment. I recommend Mary and Margaret to all my friends.

They have been at this lovely location in the Sola Salons in El Cerrito Plaza for a few years. The salon is warm, bright, and conveniently located. I lived out of state for many years and missed Mary's haircuts! When I returned to the East Bay for good, and needed a haircut, Mary was the first person I called! Now as an older person with slightly thinning hair, it is more important than ever for me to go to someone who I trust implicitly to give me a flattering cut that is just right for my hair type and face shape. Mary's haircuts never disappoint! She is warm, personable, and listens carefully to whatever I need in a cut. The Twins' pricing is very reasonable. I cannot recommend highly enough!

My mother and I have been going to Pari for haircuts and hair threading for the past 5 years (since…read moreshe was employed at the Little Mermaid). She is very kind, personable, and is careful to listen and adhere to what you want. She does give her expert opinion based on what she thinks would look good for your face shape and hair type but ultimately listens to the customer's wishes. Hair cuts: Very skilled, especially when it comes to layering. I usually keep my hair short (boy-short, if you will) and she is very neat and careful with how she layers the hair. She does the same for my mom who has a very different hair type than I do and gives great results each time. She is somebody who really understands hair and has an eye for what would look good versus what wouldn't for each client. I always trust her judgment. Hair threading: I usually have my full face threaded, with the exception of my eyebrows. She pays great attention to detail and is VERY CLEAN and quick. I have had her thread my eyebrows a few times but it always turned out a little thinner than I would prefer so I tend to my own eyebrows with a tweezer now, although she does clean up the parts I miss every now and then. Make-up: She had done my make up for me once but I feel like she caked it on wayyyy too much (I rarely wear make-up so it seemed like a lot for me) so I wouldn't say make-up is her strong point. Overall, my only real complaint is the pricing ($41 for full-face threading). I feel it is on the moderately expensive side but when I compare the quality of her work and her cleanliness to other places, I do think it's worth going back (as I have for the past 5 years)! Another plus is that she has a private room in the back of the salon for women who would like more privacy during their appointments. You can also set up an appointment at a special time to insure privacy and she will draw the curtains of the salon to make you comfortable. Pari is skilled, professional, and kindhearted and I would definitely recommend her!
