Its a nice walk, and you may cross the River Cam, enjoy the park an be in the middle of the town. On your way you can have some breakfast in a pub, wich opens at 8 oclock. Traditional English breakfast (2,99 Pounds) or Sandwiches for less. The Kirkwood House ist not stylish at all. The Rooms are small, but en suite and very clean. The prices are appropiate. So three stars are appropiate too. I did not regret my choice of the Kirkwood House.

We stayed for 2-nights in room #15 and attended my sister's evening wedding reception at Hotel Felix. From our unplanned early check-in to staff working well past midnight to ensure the wedding guests had everything we needed... I was thoroughly impressed with the care and attention we all received. The hotel grounds are beautiful and a picture perfect spot for wedding festivities. The bride tossed her bouquet/groom tossed the garter from the penthouse balcony. There's a beautiful gazebo out back for pictures or just sitting and chatting with a cocktail. There are several statues/public art outside. Lots of parking. Plus, catering and bar tending staff were great. I could go on and on... Thanks, Hotel Felix for a good stay and making my sister's wedding reception so special!

For me it was reasonable. The room was great. Nice big bed and spacious room. Internet connect was ok but pricy. I did not have a car and showed up late so ate in the restaurant on location. You are a good walk or taxi ride away from anything else so if you don't have a car you probably will end up eating at this restaurant. The local office for the company I work for has their Christmas party here and everyone seems to like it. The restaurant on location which is called Graffiti, I thought was good. I also did not get small potions and went with the special of the day which included a salad with prosciutto on it that I really liked. The bar is 5 feet away has a different menu and not that interesting. My second night stay I ordered from this menu and this was a small portion.

However, it is a very small village station, so i suppose this cant be helped. If you're hungry and do miss your train there is an Indian restaurant right next to the station, and a pub is within sight.

First hotel that we stayed in for our UK trip and I have to say after being around the entire area…read moreof UK this one is pretty alright. Yes Ibis is known to be a pretty small and very tight hotel. There also is no front desk, they have places for you to sit at but you aren't allowed to eat any food that is bought outside! While I was there I saw a group of 20 people trying to use the level one facility where breakfast is served, but they had bought 8 large pizzas. Overall this place is suppose to be budget friendly which you can see a lot of different types of people here. Location wise it's pretty convenient and close to the train station. But I have honestly never been in a room this tiny before. If you paid for breakfast it's pretty much the same thing daily which is a traditional English breakfast filled with eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, fruit salad, sausages, and some cheese. But I would say skip it and just go outside to a coffee shop. It's not worth the amount that you have to pay.

Carlton offers (to the best of my knowledge) the most affordably priced short-medium term accommodation in the Cambridge area. The people who run this establishment are very friendly and flexible, and were keen to make sure that my stay was as comfortable as possible. I was able to sleep at night without any disturbances, noise, security concerns, etc., and felt as though I could call upon the staff at any time if need be. Having stayed there nearly two months, I can say without a doubt that Carlton Lodge offers truly excellent budget accommodation - something very rare in Cambridge.
