    Chilling after a dive
    Nicole S.

With a trip to Cozemel planned, my boyfriend contacted a Scuba Phil to arrange my open water scuba certification. My boyfriend did open water training the year before and was very happy with the course and training. After a trip to the dive shop to get my own snorkel, mask, fins and course packet, I was ready for class. The first part of the class happens at phil's home and is book work and testing. Be knows his stuff. He'll go over everything at the pace you need, help make sense of the science of diving and get you feeling reasonably confident to do your first dive in the pool. The pool we used was at a dive center in Henderson. All went well so Kingman Wash on the Arizona side of Lake Mead was next. Our Lake experience was exhilarating. Phil made sure the 3 of us completing certification that day were focused, safe and comfortable in the skills we learned. Re, his female instructor, was a patient, sweet balance that day which was easily helpful to me and the other young gal on the course. We all passed! Something that you don't realize at first with Phil, you're not just learning how to scuba, stay safe and have fun. You're getting the opportunity to dive into a whole new community of Las Vegas. A tight- knit family of desert divers. They all continue to teach you, support you and become your friend. The weekend after my cert, I found myself in Laughlin diving a shipwreck with Phil, Re and 8 other experienced divers. It was incredible! My boyfriend and I are invited again to Lake Mead this weekend. Not paying for diving guide tours, just renting (or buying our own) equipment and joining new friends to dive. How cool is that?! Thanks, Phil and Re!

    Finishing certification

Thank you Phil. This past weekend my 10 year old son finished off his Jr. Certification. I can't thank you enough. I did not do as well. Phil was a great instructor. He knows the information inside out, upside down, forwards, backwards. I started to hear a guy who has just been doing this forever and not a guy who was being tough. And, when I was really having a tough time he recognized it, was very patient, and gave me all the time in the world to handle it how I wanted. What really drove home how much Phil loves what he does is when you hear stories of jobs he's worked across the globe. Diving all over. Stories of 5 dives a day sometimes. Then one guy says it must've been nice to get your days off. Phil's response. . . Most days off we went diving. The follow up was "well we'd go to some pretty great places and it'd just be a few instructors so it was so much fun"

Scuba Phil was a great instructor and I would recommend him to anyone I know . Phil made the whole process very easy to understand fun but thorough. With the pool training he made sure all of us knew exactly what we were doing and ready for the lake . Lake day comes and we had a nice scuba camp type setup , he got us into the water and showed us everything we'd need to know and even brought us to a wreck for some fun . Scuba Phil is a great instructor and if you are looking for any type of scuba knowledge or to commit and get certified , choose scuba Phil lv . You won't be disappointed

I wanted to get my 10 year old PADI certified so he can join me on diving adventures. He had a taste of it in Hawaii and was hooked. So not to take time away from our next vacation, I decided to get his scuba training at home. There is a dive shop close to our house but after reading the reviews on Scuba Phil, I opted to drive 30 minutes to the other side of town for all of his lessons. We're so glad we chose Phil to be his teacher. Phil did a great job with him and safety was always top priority. Fortunately my son is a natural in the water and the training went well. Phil was patient with him but wasn't going to let him pass until he mastered all of the required skills. In addition to being a good teacher, he is a good guy. He was accommodating and worked around our busy schedules. We highly recommend Scuba Phil and look forward to diving with him some day in Cozumel.

Learning to Scuba dive has been on my bucket list for years. Many people want to do it but have the fear of having to learn all the stuff to stay safe under water. Phil and his team make it so fun and easy to learn, even the most difficult of tasks to learn with practice become easy. As a professional, time isn't easy to find and Phil works with your schedule. So you can pick your pace. Super fast or Super slow. I would recommend Phil and his team to anyone wanting to learn how to scuba dive. The whole group becomes a type of family. A scuba family that you can go on and travel with around the world. Price is affordable and honestly I'm upset I didn't do this earlier in my life. Thanks Phil. You made me feel comfortable under the water and I will always remember your 5 top rules!! Joe Altree

My 14 year old daughter joined a Phil's class a little nervous but extremely excited to get in the water and try this new adventure. Phil helped guide her thru focusing on safety and showing how fun it can be!

Best of all-the owner, Larry, stopped to chat with us and tell us some amazing diving stories. We had seen and heard enough! No need to check anywhere else...we knew this was the shop for us. Signed up that day and started our journey. We couldn't be happier with our experience. Every dive instructor we encountered during our pool dives and OW dives were friendly and eager to help. Our assigned dive instructor, Brad De Geus, was AMAZING! His style of teaching is warm and encouraging, never made us feel embarrassed for not getting our safety skills right the first 5 times lol. John offered his friendship as well as his expertise during our diving. He is generous with his time and gives individual attention to every student. He even baked me cupcakes on our last OW dive day as it fell on my birthday! WOW!! Our experience with him and the rest of the team has convinced us we will be taking the advanced course and looking forward to being part of an amazing group of people. I can't recommend this dive shop and John enough! Thanks 3rd Reef!
