My husband and I decided to get OW certified and wanted to shop around LV area to get a feel for the vibe in each dive shop. Our first stop was 3rd Reef. We must've spent nearly 2hrs in the shop that day talking to everyone. John and Cash, working in the shop that day, were extremely pleasant and answered all of our questions, concerns and shared their diving experiences. Best of all-the owner, Larry, stopped to chat with us and tell us some amazing diving stories. We had seen and heard enough! No need to check anywhere else...we knew this was the shop for us. Signed up that day and started our journey. We couldn't be happier with our experience. Every dive instructor we encountered during our pool dives and OW dives were friendly and eager to help. Our assigned dive instructor, Brad De Geus, was AMAZING! His style of teaching is warm and encouraging, never made us feel embarrassed for not getting our safety skills right the first 5 times lol. John offered his friendship as well as his expertise during our diving. He is generous with his time and gives individual attention to every student. He even baked me cupcakes on our last OW dive day as it fell on my birthday! WOW!! Our experience with him and the rest of the team has convinced us we will be taking the advanced course and looking forward to being part of an amazing group of people. I really can't say enough good things. I have taken 4 courses with 3 Separate instructors. Jeff, Tish, and Larry. All of them are fantastic, knowledgeable, and fun. but it doesn't scratch the surface I have also had a few fun dives with them and I signed up for even more. Larry is a true OG in this Diving world and he will help even a seasoned diver get back on track if you ask him. Everyone at the shop absolutely loves what they do, you can see it on the dive days when its time to get to the water. When I needed some gear last min they had a few options to choose from and helped me get the best bang for my buck. When you are with them its not like most shops where you can feel the next pitch to buy more. they will tell you if you gear is good for the purpose and help you work it into your dives so you can be capable of using it instead of buying something new to cover up for a lack of skill. And boy is this shop active. If you are coming in to get a refill or about to get some new gear, there is always things happening here and it has a energy to it that just puts a smile on your face. Or maybe that's just Buddy. I have seen brand new never dove before folks come in and saw them all geared up and doing all the things a few weeks later when I'm out on my own dives with the shop. they gush about how much hey are excited and confident in what they have been taught. Phenomenal folks. Our family of 6 is taking scuba diving lessons with them. Their team has been so patient with our kids (and with this overly nervous dad). It takes a lot to trust someone with your kids' lives 30 feet underwater. Taysia, Brad, and Zach have been friendly and knowledgeable in the pools and at the lake. Larry, Mary, and Kat have been excellent in the classroom and at the shop. Gear is always clean and in great shape. Scuba is a dangerous enough activity that you need people who genuinely care about their customers and love what they do. Glad we found them. 10/10. read more

Larry is a lifesaver!! Recently, I went cliff jumping on the Colorado River.. long story short my gopro ended up at the bottom of the river. I tried free diving myself to retrieve it but couldn't even reach the bottom of the river. I pretty much gave up all hope of recovering it (& my videos which were on it), but that day, I called a local scuba diving company to see if they could help.. they did, they told me of a person named Larry that they said is the best free diver around and frequents the Colorado River. I called Larry right away and he told me he may be there in the next few days. The next morning, I received a call, it was Larry.. and he already retrieved my gopro!! It was laying at a depth of about 25 feet, in murky water, a place I never would have reached alone. Thanks to him I have my gopro and all my videos back after I was sure I'd never see it again :) thank you!!! read more

Best dive shop experience yet. I'd just purchased a regulator set 1st and 2 2nd stages. After a pool test diving as deep as 8 feet I heard squeaking noise after a deep breath from my primary regulator. I switched to the secondary and heard a popping noise with each inhale. I did not feel comfortable trusting this gear to my children so I took the regulator set to 3rd Reef Divers. Immediately I was greeted like a known friend. I produced my regulators, expressed concerns, and described the noises I heard. The very next day after work i get a call from the owner. He personally took interest in my equipment. I went to his shop. The owner invited me behind the counter to his work shop, where he began to show and explain in explicit detail about why the regulators were making the noises I experienced. The regulators were repaired. The cost of service was priced much lower than I anticipated. I received a Hands on demonstration about my equipment. Master Instructor level equipment maintenance. 3rd Reef Divers truly is a "Divers Helping Divers" experience for me. I solely trust my equipment to 3rd Reef SCUBA shop. I trust their experience.
