Great staff. Roberto, Lars, Carbino, and the others did a great job. I would recommend this dive shop.

Our trip was a tad last minute but you couldn't tell from their customer service. Everyone was very helpful. Our instructor was Lars and he was great!!! I have a tad trouble getting my head in the water so takes me a bit longer to get in the mindset. He was so patient and reassuring! Our friends were 1st timers and he was so encouraging!

After reading some of the reviews, after we booked, I was unsure how Scuba Cancun would compare to other shops we have dove with. So I will address some of the things I read along with our experience. My initial front end experience booking was awesome. Tom, the owner, and I exchanged several emails and he was quick to respond prior to our arrival, answering all my questions and helping me find the best package for what we wanted. We had a good experience with Scuba Cancun. The weather was not the best when we got there and wind caused 2 of our 3 days of diving to be cancelled but they were great about contacting us via email and being available via phone to check on the status of the day, so we didn't spend a lot of $ on a taxi to get there and not be able to dive, which was much appreciated. We were able to reschedule one of the dives but didn't have another day available to do the other. They were very good about refunding us the 2nd cancelled day. It took 2 weeks from the time we got home but Tom was great about keeping in touch while we made the arrangements on how to receive it. The staff was friendly and the dive master was fabulous. He was very attentive when needed and required, pointed out interesting things to see but still hung back and allowed us to also explore the reefs. The overall trip times were shorter and felt more rushed to get ready, to get in the water, than what we are used to but the locations were also closer. The shorter trip time allowed us to enjoy more of the day doing other things than we usually have, while not missing out on anything in the water, so it was not a bad thing for us. We were lucky to get up close to a manatee and were able to see a shark and swim around with a turtle. The Musa Museum was cool and kinda eerie. The only drawback was the distance from our resort to the shop and the cost of the taxi rides but that is not within Scuba Cancun's control so not a negative towards them and would have been the case with other shops as well. We used our own gear, but those with rented gear had no problems. There were no safety issues. With the longer trip times we are used to, we are accustomed to being provided snacks between and after dives. They do not provide snacks, probably because of the overall time of the trip and their very reasonable prices, so bring your own if you want/need to eat between or after you dive. Not an issue for us. The first dive day had both experienced and beginner divers but again not an issue. We were in 2 groups (5 in ours) and basically stayed that way the whole time. We were first in and last out so we really didn't have a lot of interaction with them other than conversations on the boat. The second day was only 6 divers which is what we are used to and like. It was a good experience from start to end and we would dive with them again.

I searched long and hard for a good company in Cancun to take us scuba diving. After searching TripAdvisor, I found Cancun Scuba Center. I was not disappointed. I was in contact with Patricia for about a month prior to our arrival in Cancun. She was helpful in explaining their offerings and super responsive. She helped set up a trip beginner dive for four in the local coral reef area. Upon arrival, we met up with her and a few other instructors. They were great; clear, concise, and not pushy - which is rare for Cancun. We took the theory course by the hotel pool and then practiced in the pool. Then, once we were sure we were going to go forward with the dive, we paid (No Amex, FYI) and were given some Dramamine. We were then ferried to Manchones Grande, a reef off of Isla Mujeres (which re requested) and went for it. The drive was life changing. The instructors took their time with us and made sure we were comfortable with every step of dive before proceeding further. They also kept a close eye on my mother and sister in law which was very reassuring. (One of the instructors took them both by hand and took them around the reef). The others stayed behind to make sure the group was in good shape. Overall, it was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend anyone interested in going for a dive in Cancun to check them out. You can drive there, take the bus, or a taxi. The hotel they are situated in offers free parking. The center also offers advanced scuba lessons and certifications as well as snorkeling.

I can't say enough good things about this dive shop. The staff was very proficient and professional. This is a busy place but not as busy as some shops in Cancun. They keep it organized and neat. Our dive Master Roberto was awesome. He knew where to see all the aquatic life. The boat captain and crew were professional and helpful. The boat was clean and organized. I've been on other boats where you are tripping over gear. Not on this boat. Each diver has there own little secure area for tank, BCD and fins. All other gear stacked neatly on upper deck. The dive masters do put all your gear together and take it apart even if you have your own gear which is nice. The group sizes are smaller which makes for a better experience. We did the reef dive and saw sting rays, fish, coral and sea turtles. We also did the under water museum which I highly recommend. There we saw octopus, statues, lots of fish and unique coral. If we go back to Cancun I would definitely use this shop again. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

My friend and I bought a discovery tour that included : - 1 lesson in the pool - 1 dive at the museum (Isla Mujeres) - 1 dive at the coral reef (Isla Mujeres) - boat ride (to the spots, but still nice) The instructors are so incredibly patient and kind! Personally, I had Manuel and Ulysses and they were personable, thoughtful, funny, and easy to understand. My friend and I felt extremely lucky to have such guidance in a first time experience! The layout of the day definitely took longer than we thought. The day started at 10, but they needed to drive us down to the new location. After our lesson, we actually waited an hour for a the certified divers to arrive so that we could all leave on the boat together. That did not bother myself and my friend, we just took a nap in the sun! But for anyone trying to have set plans afterwards, be mindful that you won't arrive back to port until 5:30/6pm. My friend and I were STARVING afterwards, having eaten light to help with nausea that can come with diving. I would recommend bringing a snack for AFTER your final dive, but eat fruit or granola and yogurt beforehand. The museum was actually prettier than I thought! I had believed that the museum was somewhat of a waste, but it was beautiful due to the wildlife that has taken root among the statues. I had never scuba dove, but had snorkeled and done snuba. If you have done these activities - you will feel right at home ! My friend had done none of these and caught on super quickly as well! The reef was spectacular. We saw many bright fish including the parrotfish! Yellow, blue, reds and orange, and even a small pufferfish. We saw a turtle once we got back onto the boat - timing is everything! If you are mindful of all the different coral and types of underwater sea life you can truly appreciate the dive regardless. You enter a new world and the time flies by as you soar over the reef. My friend made a comment that isn't as saturated with color, and I do think that is a good point. Don't expect neon edited colors, although some purple's did pop, as this is a natural place! Overall, I'd return to dive with coconut divers, and would recommend them to a friend.

I was able to watch him with beginners doing a discovery during my cert dives and he was kind, patient, and helped them have the best time! My brother and sister in law also did their advanced cert with him and they had nothing but great things to say. Ricardo was a great captain and Poncho took incredible photos underwater for us! We saw so many amazing things and creatures during each dive (wreck, reefs, and underwater museum) and our favorite was the night dive! We saw a ton of rays at the wreck, spotted a shark, barracuda, eels, octopus, and many turtles, lobsters and crabs during the night dive. We had the best adventures even when the waters were a bit choppy because of the winds, we always felt very safe. They were so flexible and willing to take us out because we almost couldn't go due to the harbor closing because of high winds. They communicated constantly with us and when they found out the good news it would open, just later that day, they offered and we jumped at the opportunity to do the dives we planned! We stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula and it was literally a couple minute walk across the street. We'll never forget our experiences with the crew and will definitely be back for more when come back to Cancun! Highly recommend for all levels and ages.

The port was closed so we could not do the reef dive and switched to cenote diving. We had to pay the difference in cost between reef diving and cenote diving at the dive shop. Despite stating in the email "exchange rate for the Mexican peso will be set by Google's posted exchange rate on the day of payment", we had to pay at an exchange rate of 22 while the Google exchange rate for the day was 19.93. We paid an extra $29 because of this. Staff assured me that I could email for a refund in the amount we overpaid, but no one ever responded to my email. I reached out on whatsapp and was told I could return to the dive shop the following day with cash. When I arrived the following day with cash (which I pulled out from the ATM specifically for this purpose), Maria was extremely unprofessional and stated that my requests for a refund were "a nightmare" and that I could not pay in pesos but had to pay USD. She stated that if I paid in cash with pesos, it would be at the same 22 exchange rate. The diving itself was fine and our dive instructor was actually fantastic, but my interactions with Maria and their unclear (and seemingly dishonest) payment practices left a bad taste in my mouth. Knowing what I know now, I would not have booked with Manta Divers.

For reference, a private group of eight on a 2 hour snorkeling tour was 1500 pesos per person. I think we could have done 2.5 hours but more on that later. Booking and confirming the reservation was a breeze - I did it all over email but they also have WhatsApp. Two days before our scheduled date, they asked to push it to a day earlier because the weather was looking bad the morning that we requested so I felt very reassured that they were keeping an eye on the forecast. Now I've only gone snorkeling once before but the snorkeling around the island gets pretty choppy with the waves. I'm saying that as someone who gets seasick at the drop of a hat and even thought I took medication before this trip, I still got super seasick as soon as the boat stopped and we were just swaying around and putting on our fins. Getting in the water and seeing all the cool fish (the visibility was great) helped but by the end of the second snorkeling stop (where they took us out much deeper and the waves were ROUGH), a few others and I were basically green and we called the end of the tour and headed back. I can't say enough good things about the people who work here, from the guy who helped get us set up with our equipment and later brought me a mug of super fizzy Coke to help settle my stomach to our tour guide who pointed out neat things below us (like the underwater sculptures at MUSA). I will say that the actual mechanics of snorkeling was a learn as you go approach - we didn't get much instruction other than just to blow on the googles if they fogged up - so unless you're an experienced snorkeler/swimmer, you might spend the first ten minutes accidentally gulping salt water. Once I did get the hang of it, it was a lot of fun. And even though the open water got terrifying near the end and, despite my nausea, I was fighting back fears of being swept away on the current, I felt safe that our guide was somewhere close around us. I don't think snorkeling is in the cards for me in the near future but for anyone else who's interested, I can't recommend CdB enough!

This was already ridiculous but we said whatever, we'll come back the next day. The next day my girlfriend gets food poisoning, so I call the company to discuss our options, such as doing the course the following day instead. The company contact, Jon, calls me back and says that the instructor gave them a totally different story, that he asked us if we wanted to do the course the first day and we willingly went home. Doesn't it logically make more sense that the instructor is trying to save face??). Jon blames the situation on miscommunication due to language barrier (the instructor spoke perfectly good English), and says that they will charge us for the cost of the books if we don't come back. Even if I went back to return the books, that costs either time or money away from our trip. Every time I tried to explain my side, Jon just kept spouting "oh we've been in business for 40 years, we've never had an issue..." as if any of that is relevant to the current situation. Squalo provided pick-up & drop-off at our hotel, which certainly made the day easier, and Nicholas guided us on 2 fun dives at Jardines and Manchones Grandes. The boat has a lot of shade, which is nice for your surface intervals, and they have plenty of bottled water to help you stay hydrated. Friendly and efficient crew. All in all, a nice day on the water! Our next 2 days were filled with some absolutely incredible Cenote dives with Juan. Again, Squalo provided hotel pick-up, and had also let us store our gear overnight at the shop, which certainly made things much easier than dragging gear back and forth from the hotel, especially with early morning pick-ups. The first day we dived the relatively well-known El Pit and Dos Ojos. Juan was a great guide for these two sites...he provided a comprehensive pre-dive briefing, so everyone felt confident and really enjoyed the dives. He also provided lots of food, snacks and beverages during the day, which was greatly appreciated as the distance can make for a long day. (Special shout-out to our driver, Edgar...appreciate you keeping an eye on our things while we were diving, and raising/lowering gear to the water for us!!) The next day was just me and my friend heading to some lesser-known Cenotes with Juan. We did Zapote and Kin-Ha, which were not only breathtaking dives, but were so empty of divers, that they were basically private dives for us, at both sites. These dives are a little more advanced, but are stunning. In addition, I was also very impressed with the new facilities at both dive sites...in fact, the bathrooms at Zapote were probably the nicest I've seen at a dive site....even counting the US! Juan was both knowledgeable and fun...we had a great time during our day with him. I highly recommend Juan and Squalo Divers....especially for Cenote diving!! Enjoy!!

I had never been scuba diving before and was quite nervous at the idea of being submerged underwater and surrounded by marine life. However, I'm not one to back down from new and exciting experiences, so I joined with a bit of fear and worry on my mind. We got to Squalo Divers bright and early to begin the in class portion of our diving informational session (two of the three of us didn't have PADI certification). Our in-class instructor, whose name I cannot recall (tall guy who lived in Canada for a bit), was very thorough and explained in great detail the joys and the risks involved in diving. While I appreciated his thoroughness, I became riddled with all of the potential "what ifs" that could go wrong. I just kept thinking about what would happen if I panicked under water and pressed the red button(to inflate my vest) and shot up to the surface of the water. I remained cool, calm and collected on the outside, but my mind was racing all the while the instructor spoke. After the classroom session we made our way over to the hotel to practice in the pool, before heading out to the ocean. We began with simple breathing exercises and slowly made our way underwater to implement our practices. I submerged my head underneath the surface of the water and did exactly what they said not to do (Silly me, I know. Blame it on the nerves!) and held my breath causing me to panic. I quickly gave our field instructor the thumbs up signal indicating that I wanted/needed to go back up. I took my head out of the water and removed the breathing regulator from my mouth. The field instructor rose to the surface and asked what was wrong. My fears had manifested and simultaneously disrupted my thought process. I had become consumed with fear and was so close to quitting (before the real fun even began). I started crying and second guessing if the experience would be worth it. The field instructor reassured me that I would be okay and that I needed to trust myself. I calmed down and began trying again, this time he held my hand (literally) and took me through the process, step by step. I am so grateful for his patience and understanding. I didn't feel judged or like I was wasting his time. I felt comforted and reassured, thus boosting my confidence in trying this new experience. We headed out into the beautiful blue ocean that lies between Cancún and Isla Mujeres and began our dive at the Underwater Museum. We fell backward into the water and made our way down the rope, pressurizing our ears in the process. Once to the bottom, the field instructor ( all the praise for an incredible amount of patience) held my hand and guided me around until I felt comfortable exploring on my own. We swam around, exploring for a bit, viewing the museum and all of the cool "ship wrecked" pieces that were underwater. Our second dive was at beautiful coral reef ( I kept thinking of Finding Nemo and secretly hoped to see a Clown Fish, a Pacific Blue Tang and an anemone. I realized afterwards that I was in the wrong part of the world see those little fishies, lol.) that was bursting with marine life. We saw a sting ray, numerous species of fish including several schools, a beautiful little turtle and much more. At the end of our dives I was incredibly happy with my choice to go through and live this new experience. I cannot imagine having my first dive with any other Scuba Diving company. Due to the incredible experience that I had, I plan to get my PADI certification on my next vacation in Thailand or somewhere that I can see our beloved Disney - Pixar fish friends - Nemo and Dory. A million "thank yous", Squalo Divers, you all made my first diving experience one that I'll never forget. Be well and happy diving!
