I'm really glad I chose Scrub-A-Duct this time to clean my dryer vent. In the past, no other company came inside to clean the dryer, they only cleaned outside. I thought this was the norm. First let me say this is an Air Duct and Dryer Vent business primarily...not a plumber. And what sets these guys apart from the 'Dryer Vent and Air Duct' crowd? several things: Most notably they have and use a camera! Meaning they're not just going to stick a vacuum hose in the ducts and start cleaning. They will tell you whether your duct work needs cleaning, repair or nothing. And they'll actually SHOW you in real time! Secondly, they call you back. No, really these guys called me on a Saturday afternoon! I called them because I wasn't getting air flow through my vents from the furnace. The furnace was moving a ton of air, just not to the rooms. George put the fiber optic camera in the vents in, and also from the furnace out. He found a major breach in one of the main tubes from the furnace. On this, the coldest day of the year, I'm warm and toasty for the first time in years. George repaired the seam, cleaned my dryer vents and cleaned up everything. This review is a long time coming - I actually used this service in August 2016 and then life got really busy. Nonetheless I'm compelled to write a review because the service was excellent and professional as the other reviewers have said. My HOA requires dryer vent cleaning every three years. I called Scrub A Duct because of the camera mentioned in previous reviews. To our surprise when George came to do a routine cleaning he discovered that my dryer was not ventilated to the outside - the duct work had disconnected and needed to be repaired. George returned to repair the ducts a week later which took the entire day because, of course, I have a partial attic so getting to the ducts was extremely tricky, not to mention it was a pretty hot day. Nonetheless George stayed the course and reconnected the ducts complete with video evidence and a complete clean up afterward. He was very professional, the price was very reasonable and I would absolutely recommend this company to my friends. read more

I highly recommend this company. Great customer service, very knowledgeable about dryer vent cleaning and very clear on what services they will perform and what they can do. I thought their services were reasonably priced as well. Very happy and will be using them again in the future. The long background story as to WHY I gave this review is below... I have a 650 sq. ft condo and every two years the association requires that the dryer vents be cleaned and inspected. My dryer is in the middle of the unit and there is about a 15 ft run from the back of the dryer to the vent outside, as well as 2-3 turns within the run. The association recommends a company (NOT Scrub-a-Duct), which we have used every year, to come out for $75 to clean it. They have been telling us for several years that they thought the dryer was blowing lower than it should be, and that they "suspected" there was a disconnect in the vent somewhere which could be causing it to blow lower. They have told us in the past that they only way they fix it is by cutting holes in the sheetrock to find the disconnect and then they can fix it. But they had no way to identify exactly WHERE the separation was and then after they rip apart your sheetrock, they do not fix it. And they charge around $400-$600 to do it. At my most recent inspection, the tech said "there is a disconnect. Failed inspection. Fire hazard." However, he had NO WAY to actually prove there was a disconnect, despite the fact that he actually wrote it on my receipt. Next, my husband rented a camera to inspect the inside of the vent himself and saw there was no disconnect. Obviously, we are not licensed in this field and so we wanted to get a reputable, licensed company to come in and use their camera and prove that there was in fact no separation in our duct. Scrub-a-Duct was the first company I found online when I searched a dryer vent company that actually uses a camera to inspect the vents. I called right away and spoke with George, who later told me he was the GM. He was so friendly and helpful on the phone. He was very willing to listen as I explained to him my long story and what I needed. It was refreshing that he was willing to have a conversation with me and he was not at all condescending. He explained to me their pricing structure for a standard vent cleaning (only $85) but we probably didn't need that since we had just had it. He then explained that all of their trucks are equipped with cameras so they can inspect the inside of the vent and actually show you exactly what they see. He told me they charge $100 per hour when using the camera, which was fine for me. He also explained that they use an infrared sensor to detect where a separation might be so they can identify exactly where a problem is and then fix it. Considering what the previous company had told me, this was a huge relief!! After our conversation, he had Michele in their office call me back to schedule an appointment, which I was able to do within two weeks. On the scheduled date, I got a call from George giving us a heads up that he would be there even earlier than our scheduled window (which by the way they schedule in 1 hour increments - some places give 2-4 hr windows which is annoying). My husband was there to meet George and said he was great to work with. He inspected the vent with camera and showed us what he saw. He confirmed that there is no separation in the vent and that everything looked fine. He also told my husband about a neat way that they can address a hole that is left in the sheetrock after they make a repair if needed. He said they can place a faux register over the hole (instead of leaving a hole in the sheetrock when they are done) and this is also helpful if the cut is made at an elbow because then they have easy access to that same point if needed in the future. Needless to say, I am very happy with the service provided by Scrub-A-Duct and when I need to get a vent cleaning/inspection every two years, I will be calling them, instead of the company that my association recommends. DO NOT use this company. I have a townhouse that has a dryer vent on the second floor. Kid Victor who came did not put the louvers on correctly after cleaning and is now broken and not sitting flush. Now have flies coming in thru the dryer vent, getting into my attic and into my house. George came back a few days after I called after he gave me an attitude over the phone. He gave both my husband and I the BIGGEST attitude. Attitude from the second he showed up complaining he came at 7pm. NO customer service or people skill. Had no idea what he was doing and was completely rude and unprofessional. Kept saying he was trying to work with us giving us the run around but he didn't want to re do the poor job done by his company so I told him if he doesn't want to fix it to pack up and leave. So he did. The kid who did the job broke the louver so it wasn't sitting flush. GEORGE ALSO complained about getting his shoes dirty. Its clear he didnt know what he was doing. Now we have to figure out how to fix it ourselves because he didn't want to own up to the awful job done. I am going to BBB next and all of my neighbors who I gave his business to. read more

My brother recently had Scrub A Duct do work on the dryer vent in his condo in Tinton Falls. The job was to reconnect a dryer vent that had been installed improperly with duct tape by the builders. At some point, a section of the vent had disconnected and lint from the dryer was blowing onto the ceiling floor. In order to locate the location of the disconnection, the technician used fiber optic cable . When he was unable to find the exact area with the cable, he was forced to cut holes into the ceiling to get a better view. He then refitted the duct section with a replacement and fixed the holes in the ceilings. The technician George could not have been nicer or more professional. He worked almost 12 hours in order to find the vent, perform the maintenance, and insure that the entire area was cleaned up, including the repair of the ceiling. The job was extremely painstaking but George never faltered once and seemed unfazed even when it became apparent it would take much longer than anticipated. In the end, George charged an extremely fair price even though another company may have charged much more considering the time and effort the job took. The job was meticulously performed and the corner cutting that caused the problem was corrected at a fair and reasonable price. I cannot recommend Scrub A Duct and George strongly enough. read more

It is really hard to find honest people for any type of home maintenance these days. I chose Scrub A Duct because of their camera inspection system. George was upfront about his pricing and there were really no surprises. The only surprise was how good of a job he did. I expected a quick cleaning and diagnosis for my dryer vent problem that caused my drywall tape to peel. I also expected a diagnosis that would lead to a much larger job, but George came in did a cleaning, scoped the duct and found the real problem which he fixed in a matter of minutes (no additional charge). The whole time he explained exactly what was going on. He finished up his work and left. I expected the duct to be clean(which it was), but i did not expect to see the lint tray inside the dryer to be SPOTLESS. he cleaned up the lint tray and inside the dryer where the lint tray slides into. I was really impressed because he probably took apart the entire tray assembly to get access into there. George from Scrub-A-Duct arrived to evaluate my dryer duct issue and he provided a good summary of repair options the proceeded right there to do the work immediately. The fee was reasonable and he didn't leave until 9:00pm or so. I liked that he had experience with our condos and knew what was going on before he even showed up. Our assn. has mandatory 3 year inspections and I plan to stay with these people. The previous inspection/cleaning was with somebody else and they cleaned, but didn't see the problem. Fortunately, I found it by accident. George didn't disappoint and somebody who is into their job is more likely to do it better than somebody who is just showing up. read more
