The service we are receiving from SCROGGS CONSTRUCTION is absolutely HORRENDOUS!!! We hired them last May to do a renovation job for us. We were told during the bid for the job that it would take from 8 to 10 weeks and that they could start in June. We were told they would have us moved in by late July/ early August at the latest!!! Today is April 7th OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR, and they still haven't finished!!! It's so infuriating!! No one is ever here! They have been stringing us along for 11 months. Other contractors have told us we are getting scammed... we don't know what to do. Call the media? Get a lawyer? SCROGGS SUCKS!!!!!! If you want your project done on time, with integrity, and in a professional manner, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! read more

Absolutely amazing to work with. They kept everything clean all the time. They helped pick out materials when what I picked wasn't available. They made me my dream master bath and closet. They were able to accommodate many of the long distance decision making. Everyone was so nice to talk to. The custom pantry is perfect. They were great for conservation and repurposing things too. They were also very cost conscious and made great recommendations for alternative materials that were reasonable in price with great quality. read more

The Scroggs family takes personal pride in their work. They came in ON schedule and ON budget, and the work - every bit of it - was of the highest quality. We had a new HVAC, bathroom, 2 bedroom creation, and floor creation, as well as electrical...a large multi-tiered project, and it was done in 7 weeks. The people who work for them are well-mannered and have the same high quality standards. The communication was clear and timely, always respectful. I will definitely use Scroggs again. Know clearly what you want to do. Interview at least 3 potential contractors and call references. With our in-house design team, we provide a single source for design and build services for home remodeling projects and custom home building. This efficiently eliminates the need for outside architects and general contractors, saving you money. We are fully licensed general contractors with more than 25 years experience in Western North Carolina. History

Established in 2007.

Founded in 2016, Scroggs Construction is owned by a father son team of locals who specialize in home remodels and custom home builds. Using the experience from both father and son, a blended image of business operations and construction expertise was crafted into the company you see today. Within the first year of work, Scroggs achieved recognition within the community for the PACE awards. These awards are given as a sign of excellence from the local housing authority, Asheville Home Builders Association. Today, Scroggs Construction is still striving to meet perfection in every area of our company in order to give our clients the experience they deserve when remodeling or building a home.

He was the remodeler on our home that we purchased and did beautiful work for the seller. So we wanted to work with him and approached him about building a carport. At first he wanted to charge us $5000 for the carport plans. I balked at that and he said he would do the plans for $1250. He sent me a sample document of what the plans would look like and I agreed and paid him the money on October 16, 2023. I followed up repeatedly and then finally he gave us the "plans" on December 31, 2023. It looked like a kid's Minecraft game. There were no measurements to scale, and while I think this was supposed to be our house, he didn't have our kitchen window or our living room window in the "renderings" and it appears that the kitchen window would be blocked by the carport column. The fence wasn't in the correct place, the driveway elevation looked different from our driveway. And there was no scope of work for the carport, so we still have no estimate for the cost. I have reached out to him again and again for a refund and he has completely ghosted us. No reply at all. It has been over 5 months and we have no hope we will see that refund or what we paid him for. His negative google reviews have disappeared but hopefully the Yelp ones will serve as a buyer beware for David Rand at DMR Design.

The team was able to come out very quickly--next day, I believe--and provide an exact cost for the work. It was a fair price, given their responsiveness. I appreciated how quickly they were able to work, and their level of professionalism. You may pay a slight premium for the services at A-American Electric, but for that premium you are getting timely/transparent service, and a high degree of professionalism.
