ASI is a company that screens tv shows, commercials, etc for their clients. I have been coming to ASI for years now. It's a great way to make a little extra money every couple of months or so. You are invited through a third party screening company, who generally call every 3-6 months, depending on what the clients are looking for. They have a large free parking lot on the north side of Chandler and Laurel Canton Blvd. The building is nice and the employees are super friendly and courteous. Attire has always been BUSINESS CASUAL. Jeans are ok as long as they have no holes and are nice. No logos or advertising may be worn. When you arrive, you show your ID and check-in. They hand you a questionnaire with questions the phone screener has gone over with you ahead of time. You turn it in and your answers are checked with the answers you provided beforehand. Once everyone has been checked in, they will hand you your questionnaire back with a number. That number gets you into the theater. You will be asked to power off your cell phone completely once you go to the theater and will not be permitted to turn it back on until you have received your check (for cash). Once inside the theater you sit in nice plush theater seats where you will have two giant flat screens and two way mirrors. A short instructional on how to use the control in your chair and away you go. Afterwards you are called into small focus groups. Sometimes they have more people than needed and you will be held behind and still paid the full amount and can go home early. Focus groups usually don't last more than an hour. It's a small room with a long table and comfy chairs and two way mirror again. A serious of questions are asked and your honest thoughts and opinions are recorded. They thank you and excuse you and you take you're number they gave you earlier and exchange for a check for cash. Easy peasy! Don't forget to respectful of others opinions. There are never any right or wrong answers. Come dressed for business. It's just not ok to be in shorts or tank tops or workout attire. They really frown on that and although they might not send you home because of it that day, They WILL notify your recruiter and delete you from any call backs. So be professional people! These people are frauds and I can prove it. I've done their bullshit focus groups over the last 20 years, even through the fake COVID pandemic, and I'm now officially blacklisted because they claimed I was using multiple names under different recruiters. I've only ever had one f'n name, and if these imbeciles went by driver's license number instead of name, they could avoid a lot of headaches. But to be "blacklisted"... I feel like that's a particularly poisonous dagger to the back, considering what I've been through to help these ungrateful, coniving shits. I've witnessed many nefarious business tactics, most of which intentionally rip off its clients by bringing in paid actors as "objective viewers" to the content we're being paid to review. I've been constantly decieved and lied to by fake recruiters using stolen identities like Emmy winning sound editor "Walter Newman" 'and Ive been subjected to some pretty pathetic behavior at ASI. Despite that, I've always been professional and subjective, but I've been a working actor and member of SAG since 2000. Steven Callahan knew this as did his staff. Horrible experience, I completed an almost 2 hour survey for a movie and they disqualified me at THE VERY END of the survey. Do NOT trust this scamming company. I will be filing a complaint with the California Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau regarding this data harvesting scheme unless I am compensated for my time immediately. For every hit-television program, there are about 10 duds. How do these terrible shows (or even the good ones) make it to the broadcasting airwaves? Blame (or thank) those who watched the pilots in focus groups. ASI Entertainment has been in the business for 40 years helping producers and studios asses if they have a hit pilot on on their hands. ASI Entertainment may appear a bit "sketchy" upon initial arrival. Although the building is nice enough; the lobby of ASI features old movie posters (such as "The Firm" and "Addams Family Values") which had me worried that this was going to be a terrible experience. After filling out some paperwork and waiting... and waiting... and waiting; ASI was finally ready to begin the focus groups. The process of a pilot focus group has three steps. ASI split us into groups and filed us into various stadium-seating theater rooms with movie screens and two-way mirrors (I didn't expect these theaters and was pleasantly surprised). Although the seating is slightly uncomfortable, they are attached to high-tech gadget remotes which monitor your reactions to the show you are watching as a computer compiles the data. If you've ever been to a movie screening, you may be familiar with these contraptions. After watching the show, the second step involves filling out a questionnaire (in my case, this was 3 pages) but it is simple and straight-forward. ASI encourages "writing a paragraphs" to open-ended questions so that they can truly gage reactions. The final step has ASI breaking the theater groups into smaller focus group panels whom are ushered into other rooms to have a market discussion. The great thing about this part? The client doesn't always need everyone which means you do have the possibility of going home early (with pay, of course!). This happened to me which means I got to leave an hour early but with the same amount of pay as the others who stayed. SCORE! Payment is in the form of a check, so don't have expect cash in your hands, however. Employees at ASI were pleasant and quite professional which again, I found surprising. I was expecting a more ragtag environment (due to the fact that I was asked to participate in this via Craigslist). How is the parking situation? ASI has free parking across the street in a garage and there is ample street parking in the residential area steps away from the building. For the record, don't try to update your Facebook status or tweet during the experience. This is strictly prohibited and ASI makes sures all electronic devices are turned off. In fact, they are trying to create a check-in process so that you can't even take them into the theaters or focus rooms. So, the next time you wonder, "How the HECK did this crap get on TV?!" blame your fellow TV-viewers. Or better yet, take part in a focus group and voice your own opinion. I recently did a paid entertainment focus group on an upcoming TV sitcom pilot over at Warner Brothers studios in Burbank. The focus group was handled by ASI Entertainment. The whole process and experience was very informative and interesting. Never realized just how much work goes thru behind the curtains just to get a sitcom greenlit for production. I cant say much about the sitcom we reviewed due to the confidentiality agreement they made us sign, but I hope it does see the light of day in TV land. It was pretty funny. Anyway, the ASI employees were very professional and friendly. I would love to do another focus group with them again in the near future. read more

This place is clean. It has friendly staff that make several announcements so that you will not park in wrong location and get your car towed away. They work quickly to get participants into studies. The shows you watch are interesting, unique, and new. Fun place to visit. Plus you see the posters of the latest tv shows in waiting area. There is also vending machines and free water available. Terrible company to work with...it's easy money but they took advantage of a mistake I made (waited to long to cash the check) and wouldn't pay me for two jobs, even though they told me verbally they would (even though the checks were over 30 days). Both the original staff and the acquirer (screen engines) were involved in this. Enjoy my $140...hope it was worth it. Beware. I hope the studios catch on to the way they do business. read more
