Fried Chicken Biscuit and Youngin with Sausagge

Scratch Biscuit Kitchen is a quaint, very clean, and attractively decorated restaurant in the Watercolor community. The food was so good, that we went there for breakfast 3 days in a row. Service was friendly and consistently excellent. We tried many of the menu items: the "Youngin" with sausage, the Fried Chicken Biscuit, the Biscuits and Country Gravy, the Old Southern Breakfast, the Grub Bowl, the Yellow Grits, and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried chicken breast was tender, juicy, hot, and crispy--some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I highly recommend this place. It will become a go-to place for us in Santa Rosa Beach!

Came here for breakfast and decided to try the chicken biscuit as the staff informed me it was one of the most popular items on the menu. Parking can be tricky but they do have a small parking lot behind the building. Inside was crowded but the line moved pretty swiftly. We placed our orders and then we were able to find a table. I ordered iced coffee, confetti cupcake and the chicken biscuit. The chicken biscuit was huge, too huge to actually enjoy. The biscuit was soaked in honey so the bottom biscuit was soggy and hard to pick up. The biscuit lacked flavor and overall was not enjoyable. The cupcake was good. Overall, I would not visit again.

Loved that they had a live musician playing outside and service was good! Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed in the flavors and quality of the fried chicken and biscuits. My chicken was overcooked so the thick breading tasted burnt and mostly fell off the chicken. The bottom biscuit was so saturated in the honey butter that it fell apart, so not a sandwich..and then trying to cut the tough chicken just made it not fun to eat. I wouldn't order it again but if I did, it would be with all jams/butters on the side. Great jam choices. We enjoyed the apple butter and pepper jelly. The Youngin biscuit was a little burnt and underwhelming. I wish you could order different kind of a cheese because American is yuck.

We stopped in for breakfast while staying in the area AND it did not disappoint! Santa Rosa Beach/Seaside is our new home away from home AND this was one of my new favorite finds. The biscuit is soft and perfect. I had the chicken biscuit, bread pudding, my husband had shrimp and grits with sausage, our daughter had French toast sticks and our daughter's friend had a breakfast bowl.. the grits are super well seasoned and cheesy. Everything was super yummy! Great find.

Shrimp N' Grits were definitely the spotlight of the day. Simply buttery, flavorful, and 5/5! The bowl was for my buddy and he devoured it before I could try. :-/ He must've been hungry from his last meal 21 minutes prior to this picture. Lol The let down was was the chicken biscuit. It wasn't full flavored, and the biscuit was dry. I was going to help the wife with it but after sampling a bite, I quickly declined the rest. 2/5. Service was great and the setting was busy, so if you're in town, it's not a bad place for a quick fix.

Good place for breakfast with indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter, they give you a beeper, and then you pick up your food when it goes off. For drinks they have sodas, tea, juice, and a coffee machine. Hubs was disappointed that the machine didn't make cappuccino. I got the full southern breakfast which was 2 eggs, 2 sides, and a biscuit. For my sides I got bacon and grits. The bacon was cooked extra crisp. It was very good. The grits were very good and the portion size was very big. The kids enjoyed the French toast sticks and there were enough for them to share with some leftover.

Have been hearing all the hype about this place. First tip was to get here early, which we did.. 2nd folks here. Ordering went smooth except they could not make a cappuccino.... Disappointed for sure. After about 8 minutes after ordering our food was ready. Everything is served in cardboard baskets... I guess it soaks up the grease better lol. I ordered the sausage biscuits and gravy as it sounded great! That's where the excitement ended on my first bite.. really salty and is no where near best gravy I have tasted.. you get better at Cracker Barrel....for the prices, not sure I will give this place a second chance..... the shop itself is set up decent and gets crowded quick.

30 minutes to even place an order. 90 minutes before food. Unfortunately with that wait time it doesn't even matter how it tastes

Cute fun counter service spot in Watercolor. Sometimes the line is long but we were there in the off season. Lots of tables inside and out.

BLUF: Neat building, ok food, bar out back looks like a good time…read more I love the building that Cowgirl Kitchen is located in. It reminds me of a mid-century diner or service station that you would have seen on historic Route 66. While indeed a mid-century building dating back to the 1950s, it was originally a cottage in Seagrove Beach. I love that the owners had the historic cottage relocated when it was threatened by a new subdivision being built in Seagrove. The logistics at Cowgirl Kitchen are that you order inside and then a server will bring the food out to you. We choose to sit on the front patio for a serene environment but I can tell the people out back at Boxcar Annie's were having a great time enjoy live music and cocktails. For food we had a round of grouper sandwiches and a side of chips. My sandwich was good. My sister's was undercooked - pink and jelly-like at the thickest portion. I am sure the staff would have been glad to remedy the situation but we frankly didn't feel like waiting in line at the counter again and then waiting for them to put the fish back on the flattop, or however its cooked. She ate around the undercooked part and we moved on with our day. Another thing that is nice about Cowgirl Kitchen is that it's right net to "The Stalls of 30A" - a unique and fun shopping experience. I always appreciate when I can eat, drink and shop and not have to move the car!

BLUF: Excellent breakfast all day and delicious, fresh donuts in a diner-like atmosphere…read more My party of three arrived at The Donut Hole to a long-ish line down the ramp and I was wondering if it's worth it. It is! The Donut Hole most certainly has diner vibes and I suspect the booths are original to its 1978 origins - both of which made for a nostalgic experience. Although named for the sweet, fried confections, The Donut Hole has a huge menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. My table all ordered breakfast even though it was lunch time. The breakfast was awesome - omelettes, pancakes, poached eggs, cheese grits, coffee and the most delicious rye bread. I had the sausage and cheese omelet and there was something about it that made it better than other omelettes I've had. Also, I loved the rye bread - it was sliced thicker than what I am used to and it was very pillowy. I enjoyed it dry but it was also good with a little butter. We waited about 20 or so minutes for a table, but once seated we enjoyed prompt, attentive, excellent service. And's let's not forget to talk about the fresh made donuts! Oh my, there were a lot of flavors to choose from and none of them disappointed. Initially I went with a chocolate frosted and Bavarian cream filled donut. But then a fresh tray of key line donuts came out and I had to get one of those too. My sister ordered a few and we took them back to our rental, cut them in quarters and had a donut tasting party. Delicious! I am looking forward to my return trip to The Donut Hole. A visit to Santa Rosa Beach would not be complete without a stop at The Donut Hole.

Holy tortugas! This place rocks and no wonder it is packed, the word is out…read moreVery smart scheme, they don't need any advertising because it is by word of mouth, our next door neighbor from Pensacola told us about the donuts and other items in the menu I ordered an omelette with mushrooms and cheese and it was like they would have told me to go in the kitchen and make it myself disregarding how big my stomach and my appetite would be, very generous that not even the picture makes justice to how well and generous was. Do you think I left any in my plate? no sir! Wife ordered two fried eggs that come with hash browns and biscuit and she barely finished too. Kathy was our server with a smile from ear to ear that made our day, very patient and took our order quickly and accurately. Considering the number of people in the restaurant our food came out quickly. We asked Kathy about something we saw next table and could not guess what it was on the menu. Apple fritters she said so we ordered one to go, well have it with coffee tomorrow There is a well known breakfast franchise across the highway but they are no competition to the Donut Hole, just simply there is no other place I have been in the Nation that serves as good as this and I have been to quite a few, I wish there was one near home. Place is well lit and inviting with enough personnel to tackle the crowd Place is crazy busy and when we left the line was all the way to the front porch Are we coming back? you bet we will in the week and a half we have left in Paradise. Only about a mile from Topsail Hill State Park and next time we will take the bikes, easy ride on the bike lane on Highway 98
