Last Friday, 12/1..My MAC Notebook was stuck in a language I had never heard of let alone intentionally changed it to. The Apple Store at International Mall could not help me until late the next day. Couldn't wait so I contacted Scout It and was able to go in that afternoon. Logan, the employee on duty when I arrived, was very polite, patient and knowledgable and had the issue resolved within about 20 minutes and I was on my way. We love our Apple equipment, we have phones, computers and tables. Just like most people do. When one of the laptops failed I took it to Apple to find out there was nothing they could do. Because it was "vintage" it is 6 years old, when did a 6 year object become vintage ? Alright moving on, the Apple employee said there is only one other place to take it ..... that would be Scout It, he was not able to give the number to me as his supervisors would get up set. So while there I did what we all do pulled out the phone and looked them up, and verified that it was the correct company. So off I went out of the Apple store to call them. A recorded call and answered saying due to covid-19 we do not answer the phone nor we return any phone calls if for some reason you are able to leave a message. We only respond by email. So I had to email them. They did respond relatively quick. But the message was basically what do you want and what parts do I feel like is not working. My response was the lap top won't turn on. The next email said I need to know the age of the laptop before I can even think of looking at it, what is the serial number ? I was sitting in my truck at the mall at this time so I replied back with the info. Hoping I could drop it off to have them look at the next day. As it was around 4:45pm at this point. There was no response. I waited tell after 5pm then drove home. Because I work in Tampa I took the computer to work with me, again hoping to just drop it off. I was sure I would get a response as they are a business, they only make money if they are getting work from customers right ? They open at 10am and I guess I was expecting to much for a return email saying anything. About 3pm I decide I have not heard back let me email them to see what up. Awhile later I received a reply quoting a price for the mother board at $550.00 labor at another $250.00 and then memory back up at $ 250.00. Minded they have not seen the computer yet at all. So I looked around I found another computer repair place in S. Tampa that actually answered the phone and asked me a few questions then said, bring it in I will look at it for you for no charge and tell you what is actually wrong with it. I dropped the laptop off at 12:30pm. And by 3pm got a phone call back saying ok there is a couple of things wrong. But I can handle all of it. I need to order a mother board for $175.00 and $100.00 for labor. Now don't get me wrong it's not the cost of the parts that bothered me. But the arrogance of saying we will not talk with you on the phone, only email. Now maybe that's ok for some but not for me as a business owner I could never imagine telling a possible new customer you are not good enough to talk with I will get to you when I feel like it. That is BAD business. I wish them well as I hope that this really long honest review turns at least 5 people away. Or the owners realize what kind of business is being ran. Y their employee's.
