My first time at Scotty Bons. I've heard great things about this place and spotted this location while working recently in Brampton. My first impressions, love the clean contemporary look of this takeout place. I also had the most amazing friendly and patient server who helped me decide on what to order and also didn't mind me filming. I finally decided on the Curry Chicken Roti. They loaded the cornmeal dusted roti with all the toppings .....Chick peas, corn, pineapple slaw peas and rice, cilantro and tomatoes. For the sauce I choose the Scotty cream lime chilli sauce. And it's topped with a generous portion of chicken curry folded up and nicely grilled. Get the homemade chilli sauce on the side .. I had to ask for extras cause the containers were so tiny and it was soooooo goooood!! For a drink i usually would order the Ting, but this time, I am trying DG sof Drink pineapple. Why did I wait so long to try this place?! Finally got a chance to check out Scotty Bons, after it has been on my list forever! Everything sounds so good and I had such a hard time deciding - seriously if I could eat it all.. In the end, we settled on a Jerk Chicken sandwich and a Veggie Curry bowl, both are great picks! For rice bases, you get an option of rice and peas or a saffron veggie rice - can't go wrong with either. The saffron was a nice touch, a little different from the usual rice and peas at Jamaican places. The Jerk Chicken was juicy, tender and so, so good. The toppings were all fresh and complimented the chicken and veggie curry well. The portion of everything was perfect and pretty great for what you pay. There isn't much seating, expect to takeaway. 4.5!! Finally got around to paying a visit to Scotty Bons! I had heard good reviews from friends and had read the reviews from the Scarborough location, so I knew I had to try it for myself. I came in and the music was blazing. I almost couldn't help from busting it down but I contained myself lol. I've been eyeing the oxtail bowl for awhile BUT it felt like a jerk chicken sandwich day. When first reading about Scotty Bons' toppings I thought, tf? I don't want all that on my jerk chicken. It's essentially like a Caribbean chipotle or burrito boyz or basil box. You get it. So anyways, at Scotty Bons they offer toppings such as cheese, pineapple corn, tomatoes, cilantro, coleslaw and jalapeños. I was like tf, I don't want cheese or pineapple corn (I don't like pineapple), BUT upon asking the girl making my sandwich what she recommends, she said everything lol. So I'm like, aight, let's do that, minus the jalapeños. I didn't know how spicy the jerk chicken was going to be, so I didn't want too much spice taking away from the flavours. Girl, let me tell you. It all works! In addition to all the toppings I got, I topped it off with the Scotty Bons sauce and BBQ sauce. The sandwich just comes together quite well and the flavours bounce off of each other. Although I don't like pineapple, the pineapple corn brought a brightness to the jerk chicken. OH, and the jerk chicken? Perfect! So tender and juicy and seasoned just right. It's not too spicy but enough spice you'd expect to get from jerk chicken. Also, I barely even tasted the cheese, so that didn't interfere with anything, the way I thought it would lol. It does get very messy and you need to eat it right away because the bread starts to get soggy. Even with a little soggy ness tho, I still enjoyed every bit of it. Would I get it again? Absolutely! However, next time, I'm defs going to try the oxtail bowl. If the oxtail tastes as good as it looks, I'm fa sho gonna change my rating to a 5. Oh and how could I forget to mention the staff? SO polite and friendly AND accommodating. I know it's small gestures but a lot of places don't ask and IIII need to ask for these things. For example, after the girl packed my sandwich, she asked if I wanted another plastic bag to carry it. Or even the man cashing me out, reminded me to take some napkins, after I paid. The rice and peas was by far best I ever tasted , I got the gravy option and it only made it better , again this rice had a fusion twist with caribean flavors just fire! The jerk chicken was unique first it was boneless super juicey large chicken thighs with an incredible jerk fusion gravy put on thick and deeply marinated into the meat and melt inyour mouth goodness. The chicken was very generous 3 large thighs in my bowl. All the add-on options for your bowl.arw extensive and go so well as a combo with your bowl everything goes so well together with there rice and chicken .the corn and pineapple slaw was a perfect addition to my spicy chicken along with the pickled jalapenos and the slaw. Fresh feel inside. Bright colors on the wall. Its a Chipotle concept with Caribbean options. I ordered a jerk shrimp sandwich and a jerk chicken sandwich. And a oxtail bowl. The sandwiches stole the show. The jerk seasoning was done just right. And they make the shrimp to order. So if you order shrimp it will be a short wait. You can choose any of the toppings and sauces to add to your sandwich and then they grill it, like a panini. The sandwiches are made with coco bread. The bowl wasn't bad the toppings all tasted fresh. My fav was the diced tomatoes. The oxtail was fall off the bone tender. My only issue is the flavor and seasoning of the oxtail. It's sad when the food was good but the service and portion size is has become disgusting. The bread is almost twice the size of the chicken. Literally the first couple bites are soggy and wet bread without any protein at all. Paying for "Extra Meat" gets you an ant size piece of dark meat. These people are so cheap it's not surprising who they are and where they are located. Once my favourite place to order from and it's just gotten worst over time. The pepper sauce is great though. High ceilings. Cute decor. Even the seating area(s) were aesthetic AF...tbh, it probably looked so much bigger because they moved the tables aside but there was AMPLEEE room for many ppl to socially distance while waiting in line. Their prices are (in my opinion) HELLA good for above avg servings. Like even take in their sandwich deal...A STEAL. It was pretty busy when we arrived, it wasn't even lunch time!!! But service was quick and even the designated cashier (didn't catch his name, but you can observe him in a pic - the gentleman wearing orange) even put on some gloves to help the servers speed up the waiting time. Just finished a bowl. I came expecting a fusion experience, but ended up with what I feel is for the most part a typical, familiar Jamaican takeout experience. This location is situated in the 410/Queen plaza. It has a bit more of newer, open and even corporate feel over most of Jamaican places - but again this place is a bit different too. They effectively have the choice of bowls and sandwiches. The bowl was recommended to me, and you have a few meats to choose from, including jerk chicken, bbq chicken, fish, shrimp, curry goat, and oxtail. I decided to be more straightforward and go with the jerk chicken. There's a choice of rice and I went with the rice and peas. TBH, I didn't even pay attention to what the other choice was, but probably white rice. There was also the option of going for a spoonful of Chana (curried chickpeas). That, for my bowl, was the more 'fusion' aspect since you wouldn't normally find it with a regular jerk chicken meal elsewhere - especially since it's more of a Trinidadian thing. The jerk chicken was chicken thighs that were already deboned. It was 3 full pieces, so the knife given was later needed. I was really pleased that the jerk taste wasn't toned down and it had a good amount of spice to it. Apart from that, there's a few other options for add-ons. There's not quite as many options as, say Chipotle (which some have compared the experience to). I think I saw: coleslaw, corn, jalapeños, tomatoes, cheese (maybe) and maybe one or two other things. Lastly there's about 3 sauces to choose from to choose to add. As I said earlier, the final bowl was mostly familiar and comparable to a standard jerk chicken meal since the rice and peas, jerk chicken (albeit boneless) and coleslaw are very familiar. From what I chose, the corn, Chana, Jalapeños and a bit lime dressing were the unique components and maybe gave it a bit more of a 'bowl' feel. All in all, a positive experience and was glad to have the full flavours not watered down. It maybe wasn't the full fusion experience I thought, but it was still very good and the portion size was really big too. I think I'll try the sandwiches next time for something different and that certainly seems like something that's quite unique to them. Glad to see a steady stream of customers too as Brampton isn't always the best at supporting out-of-the-box offerings. read more

How have I never heard of this place??? I love fusion foods and Scotty Bons was everything I'd hoped it would be! I ordered through Uber Eats and got the jerk chicken bowl with all the toppings and extra hot sauce. I was surprised how heavy my container was and I was happy to see it was filled to the brim! The flavours are amazing, authentic jerk but 10x more flavourful with the help of the homemade sauces and pineapple corn salsa! Amazing flavours and a unique experience for sure, I can't wait to try the bbq chicken bowl next. I've seen the storefront every time I'm in the plaza ever since it's construction and opening. I never had the chance to try this place out until today. I came on here to check the reviews, saw the google reviews, and noticed they offer Uber Eats delivery so I asked my boyfriend if we could try this out for lunch today. I ordered on Uber Eats just after they opened around 11am. At first we were shocked to see that they offer their bowls in a Chipotle style, allowing you to pick different topping options. I decided to put everything onto my jerk chicken bowl, and my boyfriend ordered the curry goat roti. It took about 30 minutes for them to prepare and get picked up by our Uber eats driver, then arrived to our place in about 5 minutes (were not that far). The food came in nice a hot especially because of the packaging the food comes in. My jerk chicken bowl tasted AMAZING! I was worried about adding in the extra toppings and messing up the flavours of the jerk chicken, but it worked out so nicely altogether! I'm also very happy that the chicken they used was boneless so I didn't have to worry about taking the bones out while eating. My boyfriend also enjoyed his curry goat roti and said it was really good. He was getting full halfway through but said it tasted so good that he wanted to keep eating lol. We will definitely be going here from now on for some good Caribbean food since it's so close to our place! They did not disappoint whatsoever! Tried Scotty Bons for the first time and was a little underwhelmed. For what great reviews and postings all over social media, I was slightly disappointed. We ordered the two sandwich combo (one jerk, one bbq) and a bbq bowl. The chicken for both were quite dry and did not taste very traditional. They lacked flavour besides the odd heavy vinegar taste from the jerk chicken. Toppings were mediocre but overall did not enjoy my experience or food. The store was slightly busy when we came and it seemed that the staff helping were in a rush. I had noticed that some options provided on their online ordering service was not asked in store like the option for sauces, which made me disappointed. Ordering from Ubereats was the 1st and last mistake with this restaurant (as per the other comments, don't order using Uber or Skip etc. They don't care what they send nor to even send the food you ordered). Portion sizes were small, food quality horrible. This is not jerk chicken and the sandwich had very little inside. Even the BBQ chicken was bland and over cooked to a point it was hard. I don't see this restaurant thriving if the food is horrible and they don't send 1/2 of what your ordered. Never again, unless I want poor quality food, bad customer service and to pay and not get what was ordered. I can understand a mistake, but not 1/2 an order mistake. Especially when she was on speaker and all 6 of us heard her say exactly what was missing and corrected our friend who said 4 bowls and not 4 items (2 bowls & 2 sandwiches). The coleslaw was very dry, when people think coleslaw they think creamy side dish, I do like the pineapple in with the corn gives a sweet and spicy effect with the jerk, i probably would just get the corn with it next time.
