    2 thighs and a drumstick

The jerk chicken entire was delicious, I picked the steamed veggies over the coleslaw. The plantain sides is very good and rice has lots of sauce. The protein portion was very good, 2 thighs and a drumstick! The service by this young man at the counter was very polite, but the woman working here were all rude, seems like they didn't want to be working. The wait was not too bad and these seats while you wait. The plaza is ample parking as well.

Solid place for Jamaican food in the GTA. This newly opened Markham location is their second location in the GTA, following immense success at their flagship location in Scarborough. While the Scarborough location caters to take-out and pick-up only, the Markham location is bigger with a good-sized sit-down dining area. Upon entering, you order at the counter with the cashier. Then they give you a receipt and you can sit down in the dining area while waiting for the food to arrive. Our food took about 20 minutes, and everything came in take-out containers with disposable plastic utensils (as it's a predominantly take-out place). I could see why the Chris Jerk brand is synonymous with great Jamaican food. Everything was delicious, especially the jerk sauce (surprisingly not spicy - maybe they ommitted Scotch bonnet peppers from the recipe?), and my favourite part was their side Steamed Vegetables (broccoli, carrot, cabbage). We ordered 3 portions of the side Steamed Vegetables, and we were glad we did. Each main dish came in a VERY big portion (as in any other Caribbean restaurant / take-out place). Jerk Baked Salmon was a really large piece of fish on top of a mountain of rice & beans (you could choose between rice & beans / peas or white rice... I love beans so it was a no-brainer for me). The salmon was very meaty, and the jerk sauce wasn't spicy at all (a big win). But the callaloo had a kick that was a bit too much for me. It was still tasty though, as I could taste the coconut milk infused in the callaloo. Red Snapper could be made in 3 different ways: steamed, brown stewed, or escovitch. I chose escovitch. It came as a whole fish (with bones and all), topped with escovitch sauce, sliced bell peppers, and onion. The fish wasn't spicy, but the vegetables on top of the fish were VERY spicy. Curried Shrimps were okay. We ordered it as a side, and it came in a bowl with 4 large pieces of shrimps and some vegetables. It wasn't too spicy. The curry sauce was more soupy. Between the curry and jerk sauce, I preferred the jerk sauce. I liked the flexibility that you could order every main item as a meal (with rice, plantains, veggies) or on its own. The wins for me were the Steamed Vegetables (still crispy, not overcooked, not saucy at all), Baked Salmon, and jerk sauce (hard to find a non-spicy jerk sauce!). Service was great overall. The person who took our order at the counter was very on the ball, and nice & friendly. The whole operation was efficient. Washroom were very clean. There was ample parking available in the plaza, shared with other businesses.

Almost as good as their Scarborough location! My friends and I stopped by on a saturday after a badminton session. This was my first time eating at this new location but I was surprised to see how spacious the interior was. Tons of parking in the plaza and they have an interesting setup now. You order at the front when you walk in and then you can wait for your food if you got takeout or you can DINE IN now. That's right. They have a massive dining room to the right of the ordering counter now. Anyways, I saw a bunch of new stuff that I didn't previously see at the Scarborough location but my friends had never even tried the Scarbs location so we opted for classics this time around. Jerk chicken entree, oxtail entree, jerk shrimp pasta (which was the daily special) and some cow foot soup. The pasta and soup I had never tried at Chris Jerk before so that was unique. They were just ok imo. The oxtail and chicken still reign supreme. I gotta say, the jerk pork was the sleeper hit for me. It was SOOOO SOFT. I was expecting chewy pork as it's a hard protein to cook properly and tenderly. This pork was MELT IN THE MOUTH. No exaggeration. My goodness that pork was good af. The bbq wings were also quite good. It's not a traditional bbq flavour but rather, it's more of a spicy, tangy kick. Not the bold traditional bbq sauce you would think. We also ordered some drinks on the side to share: coconut water, peardrax (a fizzy pear drink) and a grapefruit Ting (another fizzy drink). The Ting was our consensus first pick. Spice and flavour-wise it tasted just as good as their OG spot but certain things like the cooking of the plantains (they used to have a glaze on the outside), the tenderness of the oxtail, the moistness of the rice seemed to be just a TAD better done at the original location. We saw Chris and his wife hard at work making our food in the kitchen! Chris actually came over to ask us if we were influencers due to the amount of food we ordered lol. Still a super chill guy. Will be back to this location with my friends for sure!

I have passed by Chris Jerk on the southwest corner of Birchmount and Huntingwood in Scarborough for years. I have never dropped by to check out the jerk chicken and other offerings on the menu, mainly because I tend to cut through the area to get to someplace else. Well, Markham is home to its second location. This one is at a plaza roughly five minutes away from me, with a CIBC and Hollywood Cafe anchoring it these days. Chris Jerk is where a number of Chinese restaurants have come and gone over the years. I am hoping that Chris Jerk stays a lot longer. It's nice having a Caribbean joint so close to home. Last month, I looked at my Uber Eats app and noticed that this place had a BOGO offer on DoorDash. It had a jerk chicken quarter leg deal, with jerk gravy, steamed veggies, and basmati rice and peas. I said yes to it. There was plenty of parking in front of this restaurant. I parked, but didn't know which entrance to go through. Naturally, I chose the entrance that makes you cut through the dining area. A nice male staffer directed and helped me to the takeout counter. Note to self: Use the entrance that faces and is closest to Gorvette Road. I indicated that I had a DoorDash order. He found my bag containing my food. I thanked him and happily headed to my car with my food. I drove home to chow down. I had one meal for dinner and the other the following day. I loved these meals. The jerk chicken was flavourful and tender. The place cut up the jerk chicken into pieces that were easy to eat. There weren't any hidden slivers of bone to make the eating experience a nightmare, which I appreciated. The basmati rice was different. It was yummy. I was expecting regular long-grain rice. I liked this change. The steamed veggies were also different. Most places give you coleslaw. I liked a healthier version. The veggies were steamed perfectly. They weren't soggy and still had some crunch to them. They may seem bland to some, but the jerk spice balanced things out. I enjoyed the peas and plantain. They were the perfect portions. Delicious! I tend to get oxtail when I visit any Caribbean eatery for the first time. This BOGO deal changed things and I don't have any regrets. I hope to return soon and get some oxtail. The downside is that meals are on the pricier side. My jerk chicken leg meal was under $20 before taxes. The BOGO cushioned the blow. When I get the oxtail meal, I will be splurging at $27 before taxes. You do pay for quality. I am due to drop by, so it all works out. (335)

Tried the Markham location and grabbed take-out. Steady flow of patrons at 7pm on a Friday. Pleasant staff and clean interior. It's located in a small plaza with plenty of parking. Got the shawarma poutine and stewed beef. Poutine was nice with gooey melty cheese and with sufficient meat and gravy. Very flavourful. The stewed beef seemed a little dry but still good. Love the fried plantain. Both dishes hit the spot and I'll definitely return to this location.

Always enjoy takeout at this spot. We got some shawarma platter and jerk chicken on the side. Good flavour and bit of kick to it but not too spicy. I don't remember if I ever stepped in but my SO always brings back takeout from here when he's nearby.

I ordered for takeout, so I can't speak the service and restaurant ambience. Despite my high hopes after hearing good things about their other location, this was very average jerk chicken. The plantains were quite soggy and the added gravy barely helped the dish. Maybe their other location was better, because this wasn't it.

Chris Jerk Caribbean Bistro recently had their grand opening celebration at the their new location in Markham. I was fortunate enough to be there and to enjoy some delicious food. I dropped in for lunch and had their Jerk Chicken Shawarma Poutine that was pretty good. It was a generous serving with good flavour. I came back later for the festivities, which included some finger foods and adult beverages. Of course, there were a few VIP guests and a congratulatory presentation by Councillor Michael Thompson. I first met Chef Chris and his lovely wife, Aretha, years ago when they opened their Scarborough location. Since then, they have expanded their menu and service offerings, and continue to grow. Congratulations, Chef Chris, Aretha, your family, and staff! I wish you continued success!

I've been visiting their original location on Birchmount for some time and was extremely excited to find out they're opening a location closer to me. This location is different as they have a really nice dine in section and the plaza is much lower in traffic making the parking situation very ideal. The layout is similar how you walk up to the counter to place your order. If you want to dine in, the friendly staff will bring your order to your table once it's ready. Staff are extremely friendly and even came to check back on how we liked our food. Between my friend and I, we ordered the oxtail and the Jerk chicken meal. The portion size is same as Birchmount, however, I did find the flavour at the Birchmount location to be more flavourful. Otherwise, the chicken is done just right as usual and the oxtail is cut up into the perfect size and the meat fell off the bone. The plantain was also very fresh and still crispy. As this is only the soft opening of this location, it may be something that's in the works and I will be back to give it another go.

Chris jerk has made me sad for a second time. I tried the Scarborough location and the food was so salty I had to throw away my meal. I got the Jerk pork entree with fries, coleslaw and plantain. I also ordered a side of jerk chicken to try. I originally wanted the jerk shawarma poutine but they were out of jerk shawarma. At first glance everything looked good. I was suspect that my car didn't smell like jerk food on the ride home which made me sad because usually when you get jerk food the smell permeates any closed space. The fries and the plantain were the best part of the meal for me. The fries were fried perfectly. The plantains have that nice caramelized exterior and soft interior. The jerk pork pieces were large chunks. A majority of the pieces were fatty. The other pieces which I could eat were tough and chewy. The jerk chicken looked great but was bland. The coleslaw was oily. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant itself is clean, beautiful and they have a big dine in area. I'm going to come back and try the jerk shawarma. But, honestly there are a few better options when it comes to jerk food in Markham.

Irie man! Everything OK at Chris Jerk! They just opened their new Markham location at 7220 Kennedy Rd. This location has a large spacious dining area, and it looks like they will need it! I went with my family around noon, and we were able to get seated immediately. However, not even 30 mins later and they had lineups. We have been to their Birchmount & Huntingwood location many times before and wanted to see if the food had the same taste & quality. I can report that the food is on par with their original location. The service was wonderful, and the decor was a definite upgrade. It was modern, casual, and welcoming. Our group ordered: The Jerk Chicken 1/4 leg meal $11.45 4/5 The Beef Oxtail meal $16.95 4/5 The Curry Chicken meal $12.45 3/5 The Jerk Chicken Shawarama meal $12.45 3.5/5 All the meals came with rice, broccoli, carrots & plantains. Hot sauce was also provided on the side. I enjoyed the Jerk Chicken. It was tender and flavourful. For me, their jerk seasoning is delicious, just the right amount of spice. Add some hot sauce, and you're Irie! The feedback I got from my family was that the Curry Chicken & Chickpeas favour was good, but the chicken was on the dry side. The Jerk Chicken Shawarama was good, but they would have ordered something else after seeing the other meals. The Beef Oxtail was the big winner for my family. The meat was tender, and the flavours were perfect! The only complaint about the oxtail was that portions were small for the price. I think this Jamanican cusine will thrive in this area of mostly asian food options as long as they keep up with the quality of food. It's a definite gem in my books!

    Jerk chicken entree

I tried chris jerk at the Birchmount location, didn't like it due to the lack of flavour. The markham location is better . However, it's still far behind places like Nicey's, Island Spice Flava, and Rap's. Chies jerk doesn't seem to marinate their their chicken long enough, no ox tail sauce/gravy offer, their rice isn't as flavourful, and doesn't smell as good as the other places. It doesn't satisfy my craving for Jerk Chicken. This place however does offer seating in the other room.

It offers 100% halal food and is fully LLBO-licensed. We had quite the feast: - Cabana wonton soup - Curry goat with roti - Cabana fried rice - Cabana combo (appetizers) - Singapore Noodles - Basha (fish - spicy) - Cabana mixed veggies - Calamari - Lo-wontons We asked for water and got a carafe that had a yellow tint. We joked that it looked like urine. Luckily, it wasn't. I asked the same nice woman for a refill on the water. The carafe only filled four glasses out of the seven. It was a busy afternoon thanks to a Toronto Blue Jays game being broadcast while we were there. We eventually got the refill and were content. The wonton soup was full of veggies and wontons in a tasty broth. We got the Cabana combo, which featured spring rolls, fried wontons, fries, and onion rings. It was perfect for snacking and sharing! Next, we had the Basha Fish; Cabana Mixed Vegetables; and Curry Goat with Dahlpuri; the very popular Cabana Fried Rice with Fried Chicken on Top; and Singapore Noodles. It was all so good and we wanted more, so we added their Calamari, and Lo-Wontons. It was all delicious! Caribbean Cabana is a cozy spot that seems to have a lot of regular customers who were there cheering on the Blue Jays to another victory. If you're looking for a friendly spot with good food, check them out at McCowan and Denison in Markham. Don't miss their weekday lunch specials, starting at only $7.99!

It causes the person you follow's reviews to tier to top when you pull up a business. I find this very handy when researching venues. Rod's Review grading scale explained. Essentially I personally base it on the likelihood of a return visit and I try to be stingy with 5 star reviews since they should be "special" in my eyes. Price/Value also play a role obviously but there are $ and $$$$ littered across my grading scale. 5 stars - "I'll go out of my way" (approx 6 % of my reviews) 4 stars- "If I was in the area I'd go here and would recommend", (approx 38% of my reviews) 3 stars "Maybe if was nearby", (approx 37% of my reviews) 2 stars -"Would likely not return, Only if you want to go", (approx 16% of my reviews) 1 star -"No thanks, even if I was hungry", (approx. 3 % of my reviews)

All day special includes main with choice of carb and 2 sides. Order: Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas (Oxtail gravy over), Cucumber Salad and Pasta salad. Salads were really good and nice to see a place with options other than just coleslaw. Rice with Oxtail gravy was good! Jerk Chicken is cooked nice, fall of the bone, good flavour and hit of hot peppers. I'd come back!
