Stuck around as my youngest was attending a birthday party this afternoon from 1-3:30…read more Cloris was my favourite staffer and go-to gal for things like an extra bin for overflow birthday presents, cups for water (and she brought me a stack which I appreciated as forward-thinking because I could leave them for the other parents in our group too), and she was extra patient with my kid when he was choosing a prize with his tickets. For the most part, I really like the systems here that made the party run fairly smoothly. Our party host staffer (didn't catch her name but she had the coolest purple shoes) was super helpful in distributing food, assisting with cake cutting, refilling pitchers, quickly cleaning up after spills and proactively dealing with cupcake leftovers being put in the fridge. Three things I'd maybe suggest could run differently: 1) have coloured wristbands assigned to party rooms so that you can tell instantly who belongs to your party group. Like at one point, we had a random little girl asking for tokens from our party host, and then a little boy just sat himself down at our party table eating food and blending in until our host mom said, "Who is this kid??" And then a minute later his mom found him! The parents thought it was hilarious. The staff also have neon shirts so maybe you can match party host to wristband colours. If this system already exists, I didn't notice and only thought of it now. 2) For bumper car passes and tokens, it would be good if birthday party kids got an allotment with their socks at the start when you sign in at the front desk. The less that parent hosts have to worry about, the better. The thing where each kid signs in and chooses hot dog or pizza is fantastic. Our host mom thought she'd have to take care of that and was relieved not to. 3) For saying goodbye and around retrieving their shoes, that could be the time and location that party hosts can give out their goodie bags. It's just a little awkward that there's no specific place to do that. I appreciated not having to sign a waiver but that's probably not the greatest for the establishment's purposes. I also appreciated not having to pay entry fee as an adult even though I was prepared to pay. But then again, encouraging parents to stay without charging them means they're okay with waiting around for their kid, being around to supervise as opposed to dropping off and leaving, and like one parent I saw, will buy food. Overall, the place seemed clean and with good air flow. The play area is large and there was a garage door open so I felt safe enough not to have to wear a mask which I really liked. The party rooms are large with high ceilings. I usually wear a mask in the classroom because of a low ceiling. It was about half full and there was lots of space for parents to gather at tables and hang out to wait for their kids. I don't know that I'd be back on my own because my oldest might feel too old for the climbing part, but the youngest had a wonderful time.

The only thing we weren't able to do was go on the trampoline park, but part of that is because our little one was too young to understand the concept. It's one of those places that feels unique rather than just being another community centre, and I love that they have rental spaces at decent prices. If you're looking for a venue for an event, it's definitely worth looking into. But honestly, one of my favourite things about the Roundhouse is their Winter Solstice event. The lighting, the atmosphere and the special performances make it feel so magical. It's one of those events that actually feels special and memorable rather than just something to get out of the house and do. The lanterns and the whole experience are absolutely beautiful. And then there's the train! Engine 374 is such a cool piece of Vancouver history, and I love that they have this historic locomotive right there in the middle of everything. It's not something you'd necessarily expect to find at a community centre, but it adds so much character to the place, and it's a great little experience for kids and adults alike.

The drop in ping pong program is unsupervised so one waits until a game on one of 5 tables gets…read morefinished so standbys can play winners. But the players aren't forthcoming when there game ends and they simply keep playing indefinitely. Hence a new comer is left sitting around w/o any recourse as the front desk just tells you to wait your turn. But that turn never comes up. Other community centers like Killarney have well managed ping pong programs that are supervised and insure newcomers get to play. Don't waste your time here

Whally the manager is very helpful and the place does have really good pricing or if you have special request, they will be able to accomodate. Like I said I had many Christmas here and every year the decoration looks pretty much the same. I didn't go to my firm Christmas this year here. Food has always been pretty decent and good. One bad thing. Their rules is no cellphone in the club house but again no one really follow it. Good place to host party and events.

The previous two reviews does this magnificent golf course no justice - surely you can't truthfully judge its merit based on the breakfast or buffet it serves? Marine Drive is designed by A.V. Macan and has been known as the home of Champions. It is a course to be challenged upon because you will really have to focus your shots as the fairways are narrow and the greens are fast - all thanks to its constant and meticulous course manicure. There are always a lot of tournaments within the club and the club encourages its members, and especially the Juniors to participate in cross-club and national tournaments. I always feel the pressure when the Juniors are whipping their shots that make beautiful sounds when the ball slice the air...juxtaposed with my Micky-mouse and the occasional "topping the ball" shots. Even if you are a non-member you still have the opportunity to enjoy this course, so long as you are invited by a member as a guest. And regardless how good or bad you are, just remember this course can humble the strongest player and so enjoy the time out and grab a glass of wine on the patio after. Cheerio!

This bowling has been here for a very long time. The bowling balls looked a bit dated and worn. The lanes and enjoyment of bowling there is the same. Their food platters are surprisingly good as well. Those fried chicken wings remind me of the feng Sha chicken wings from wufung before that place closed down. There's been a lot of events at country clubs for me lately and this was my most recent stop…read more Lovely location on SW Marine Drive... the sign at the entrance is quite small but once you enter the property, there is ample parking and the Clubhouse itself is quite nice, bright and very quiet. Its focus is on golf so it has fewer amenities and is smaller than others in town. The catering and service was very good... I was pleasantly surprised at the prices for events here and everything ran very smoothly.

It exudes what a proper golf club should. One of the premier country clubs in Vancouver. If you have the etiquette and a joie do vivre for golf then you too could sign up and wait to be a member of this exclusive club. Of course it doesn't come cheaply. My golf club is just down the street, but this one is very nice for a price and privilege. And that's what memberships have; it's privileges. :)

He had a great attitude, service with a smile and very personable! He was the reason we stayed down below instead of going upstairs to the restaurant. I went to Pitt Meadows course a week ago with the intention (if I liked the course) of getting a…read moremembership, because I read they were looking for new members. I'm 28 and I would be a member for a long time. Exactly what any struggling course should be looking for. As soon I walked into the pro shop I was met with a disapproving gaze from Phil Kitsch, one of the golf "pros" at this mediocre course. He was such an A hole the entire time I was talking to him and paying my green fees. He is a typical wannabe, he failed at golf so his treats patrons of this course like they're beneath him to make himself feel better. Other then the course not being good, He alone is reason enough to never waste your money there. The course itself isn't well kept and the refreshments cart lady wasn't even on the course on a Sat! Please Please let them either change their ways or let them fail.
