I've always believed that the manner in which a person manages his personal life, that is the same morality, ethics, honesty and sense of fairness, is also the manner in which a person manages his business. I've had one interaction with Scott. Unfortunately, I believed him when he posted that a boat he was selling had a new motor with only 15 hours on it, I believed him when he said there was nothing wrong with the boat, I believed him when he agreed on a price including a "sea trial" to demonstrate that the boat was in good condition. He then changed his mind and said no sea trial, not even a "muff test". Then he lowered the price to sell "as is". Then, he refused to honor the lowered price. Despite these red flags, I took him at his word that the boat was in good shape and the motor was new. I paid him and picked up the boat. As soon as I got it home I discovered that the engine appears to have a cracked block. I've texted Scott, I've phoned Scott, the boat broker to whom he made representations about the boats condition has called and texted Scott. Scott is not communicating with anyone now.
It's just my opinion, but I would reconsider doing any business with someone who conducts his personal affairs in this kind of a manner... read more
