I have NOT bought a Car since 2006 and was never the type to Keeping Up with the Jones. Anyways I notice when going to work early morning my Chevy Trailblazer (Who I named Old Faithful) was reving really hard. As I continued to drive it out to where I had to go the Check Engine light went on. I had this problem before which is an Engine Misfire. On one of the Sparkplugs and Cylinders. I had contact my relative and she sent me to Midas In Eden Prairie, MN. Boy DID I MAKE A BIG MISTAKE. Midas told me I had to replace a whole cylinder head!! IT was gonna cost me $6k!! That is like a good used car! On top of that they we're inspecting other parts of the car that was not necessary! Unfortunately, I had to pay $122 for the diagnostic but I by change had contacted on Craig's List another Mechanic who referred me to Erik. I had told Erick and he himself was shocked at my story! He new Midas was BS-ing and I went to him. My engine was still fine! I just needed new spark plugs which he believed Midas technicians damage by pulling it out the improper way and new great quality coils which I should have don vs buying from Ebay. All in All I only spent $400 and my engine was running great. Please come over here! He won't rip you off with Lies about the car! 5 stars in my book especially coming from Chicago, IL.

Once they were done they called me and gave me a whole grocery list of services they "suggested I get", and explained to me they wouldn't do any further maintenance work on my car (including the one thing I came there for) unless I payed for all the services they recommended, which was over $1400. I regularly work on my car but just didn't have the time that week so I figured taking it in would have been easier, so imagine my surprise when they tell me my vehicle is "completely out of oil" (however in the detailed report the oil is marked as "good", and I had checked the dipstick a week before this and the oil was full), and it'll require an entire "clean-up" under the hood, as well as entirely new brake lines. I declined all the services except an oil change because they refused to do the service I had gone in for, and because of the report and inspection they did, my bill was over $300 for just an oil change. Took my car to a shop later in the week and did the work I initially requested myself: the brake pads, rotars, and everything else that they said was in horrible condition were still within the limits of operation after I measured them. I will never be coming here again, and I suggest you don't either if you have the choice.

Caveat - I was not actually a paying customer so you can disregard my review on those grounds. I…read morewas test driving a used car from a guy late at night and the only mechanic in the area still open was his mechanic, so we stopped in to talk to him about the car (I know, I should have had an objective mechanic check it out). The Hillcrest mechanic told me that even though the ABS warning light was on, the ABS absolutely worked, the front end was tights, and he'd buy it if he had the money. I bought the car and learned the next day from my mechanic, that not only was the ABS not working, but if the light is on it means it absolutely CANNOT work. It would cost almost $400 (and the front end was loose in 2 places). So I called Hillcrest and told the mechanic that I bought the car on his word that the ABS worked. He denied ever saying it worked. I asked if he would fix it at half price. "Not gonna happen." Click. I'm not wining about it, caveat emptor, I did see the warning light, and I still got an ok price on a decent car. I'm posting this to document the mechanic's dishonesty.

I would recommend this place if your car is needing a burst of cold air.
