EXCELLENT record store in beautiful Maplewood, NJ! I wasn't…read moreexpecting much, I imagined a small-type store to take advantage of the uptick in vinyl sales. NO WAY! This is the real deal - this record store is PACKED with new and used vinyl, and practically every genre is well served. Whether you need a sealed copy of a recent release or wish to dig thru the bins searching for that Holy Grail - this place'll do. Its store-front sized, so you don't need five hours free to shop here, but SOMA is well curated, and has the goods. If you don't live in Maplewood, it's worth the trip. I don't mean you should drive here from Ohio, but anyone within, say, an hour away who has the time and loves music and especially music on vinyl, again, it's worth the trip.

My fiancé and I decided to have a Sunday morning coffee date and check it out. The shop is nothing short of fun, I feel like I could find something new every day while browsing the selections. The vinyl collection is great and there's plenty to choose from. Big shoutout for the shop having a soundtrack section, that's the first thing I always look for when I'm browsing records. I managed to find a record and a cool poster before I even browsed the cafe menu. The barista was super chill and recommended some of their popular items to try for our first visit. We both opted for tiramisu iced lattes and we were not disappointed. The coffee base was excellent, and the flavoring was very balanced. My fiancé also got a lil' treat, courtesy of me, a mochaccino muffin, which got the thumbs up of approval. We both agreed that the space is cool and exactly the kind of spot we'd prefer to hang out in. Sweet Vinyl will definitely be in our coffee outing rotation going forward.

Me and my child were excited to take a trip to the book store on a beautiful sunny afternoon…read more when we walked into the store we headed straight to the back to purchase a book to start her journey as a reader. I was approached by another mother also trying to do the same for her children. naturally the kids were filling each other out and walking around the store as I waited to make my purchase. my daughter had her scooter parked inside the front of the store with her Helmet attached. The person who was ringing me up (which I believe to be the owner) Made the most disgusting comment after asking my child directly if the scooter & helmet belonged to her & she replied yes. He told my child she should probably put on the helmet while in the store. I Immediately left and did not complete the purchase. I felt so embarrassed & walked out. I couldn't even phantom the words to say. Because I could not believe someone would talk to a child in that manner. I eventually called the store and told them what happened and received an apology from another employee.
