He is able to see the rest of the systems through the eyes....mental health. Cardiovascular, neurological, and so on. He did not just prescribe for my daughter's eyes but guided us with a treatment plan for her mind, body, and soul. I also understand that it's a mechanism eye doctors use to protect themselves from lawsuits. I come from a line of surgeons, and they find methods to curb malpractice lawsuits everyday. The staff could benefit with more training, be that service or technicals. Things are going to get worst for Texas businesses in general when transplants begin to saturate the the local market with skilled professionals, which has already begun. Very quickly, you can toss a penny and hit eye doctors with your eyes closed, no pun intended. More choices are always better.

Communication is our biggest obstacle between client and business and vice versa. We don't think about what could be happening behind the scenes and we aren't able to make adjustments that can fix a situation if we don't communicate. I absolutely love Dr. Somji, he really cares about his business, his staff, his clients and the product he produces. I have trusted Horizon eye care with my vision since well before Dr. Somji became the owner and will continue to do so. When I changed health care companies it was my intent to use my insurance but knowing my doctor and staff was much more important to me. Thus I come back. The selection they have runs the gamut and I must say plays into my vanity. If I am going to wear glasses I at least want to look stylish. We change our clothes with the season, why shouldn't we change our frames too. Glasses are a necessary evil but our eyes can't be replaced so I trust mine to the best. ( If you read my prior review know that sometimes we say things we wish we hadn't and no matter what we regret.) I have severe dry eye disease and was optimistic that Dr. Yee could help me. Unfortunately, it was…read morea bizarre and weird experience. Here's why: 1. His staff seemed to be all interns of some kind. Two of the young men running the eye exam machines said that they were "students from China working here for the summer." They were nice but didn't speak great English. During my second visit the following month, the staff (including the receptionist) were a complete new set of interns. Nice but very green folks. 2. Dr. Yee prescribed "Spironolactone eye drops" for me which he said that he had formulated and could only be bought at a compounding pharmacy for $60/10 ml bottle. They did me no good. 3. Dr. Yee cauterized my tear ducts but those opened right back up the following day. I later realized that I was glad about this as having plugged up ducts would have left my eyes swimming in dirty tear water. 4. No one ever answers the phone at this office! Seriously. The day after leaving my 2nd appointment, I needed to ask Dr. Yee a question. No one would answer the office phone. 4 days later they called me back and left a VM but when I returned the call, no answer again so I was back to chasing them by phone! Very aggravating. There were also no responses to emails or messages to Dr. Yee's website. 5. He wanted to try "probing" (ie. sticking needles) to open up my clogged eye oil glands. Fortunately, all of that weird office stuff made me realize that this was not the place where I ever could feel taken care of. In short, I wasted 1 1/2 months with Dr. Yee as my dry eyes got progressively got worse. If you have dry eye, please consider going to a reputable eye doctor. Feel free to DM me for recommendations as I unfortunately know a lot about dry eye treatment providers in Houston now.

I went in for astigmatism contacts, which I didn't end up liking so I was given 2 other options to try out, one of them being Acuvue Oasys which ended up being my preferred choice. I called and mentioned that I would go with the Acuvue and I'd pick up the prescription. The woman confirmed if I wanted Acuvue, to which I agreed. I go get the prescription filled and noticed it didn't say Oasys, so I called the office and verified if these were it. The office told me that the prescription is correct with the name on it. I go home to put them on and noticed that the prescription was for Acuvue Moist. I called back the office and got so much attitude because it was my fault that I didn't correct them, when I've never had/seen Acuvue Moist in my life. If I've only ever been given Acuvue and some other brand that was not Acuvue, clearly when I mentioned Acuvue, it should be the one that originally gave me which was Oasys. I kept telling them over and over that they've never given me Acuvue Moist, I even dug through my trash and found that the ones they gave me were Oasys! I was even told that they would speak with the doctor and give me a call back. They never did, so I had to call and again was told that it's my fault. There wasn't even an apology, it was as simple as I didn't correct them and it's my fault. So now I'm stuck with 3 boxes of contacts I didn't want. Before seeing them, I had always been afraid of touching my eyes leading other doctors to tell me not to bother with contacts. With their patience and encouragement, now I have a pair of great contacts that I have the confidence to put on everyday! I can not recommend these two doctors enough!
