Every single appointment, I wait at least an hour in the lobby before being called back, despite arriving on time or early. What makes this worse is watching other patients, who arrived after me and had later appointment times, be called back before me. There is no explanation offered and no apology. The office has never once asked me to update my health history. I never experienced this at other dental offices, and it created a serious problem when I was pregnant. The staff only became aware of my pregnancy because they were eavesdropping on a private conversation I was having with another patient in the lobby. I had already consulted my doctor before the appointment, and they confirmed I was fine to be seen since I was not getting x-rays. Despite this, after I waited an hour and a half in the lobby, the office told me they could not see me without a doctor's note, even for a standard cleaning. I called my doctor afterward to request the note and explained the situation. They said a note was not necessary for a routine cleaning and that they had never been asked for one in that context before. This entire situation could have been avoided if the office simply collected updated health history like every other dental practice does, rather than relying on overheard conversations to learn about their patients. At a more recent appointment scheduled for x-rays and a cleaning, I waited over an hour in the lobby, completed my x-rays, then waited an additional 30 minutes in the treatment room before being told the doctor was over 40 minutes behind. I was told I would need to reschedule my cleaning. I rescheduled. At the rescheduled appointment, I again waited over an hour in the lobby. Once called back, I waited another 30 minutes to be seen by the dentist, whose evaluation took under three minutes. I asked two different staff members for a status update during that wait. After the dentist told me a hygienist would be right in, I waited an additional 15 minutes before asking again. The hygienist who finally came was visibly rushed, openly acknowledged they were behind, and skipped steps during my cleaning. I have now spent well over two hours at appointments where less than 20 minutes of actual care was provided. This is a pattern, not an occasional bad day. I do not recommend this office.

This morning, I received a call from their office asking me to complete two new patient forms. I filled both out online immediately. We then headed to the appointment but ran into unexpected stopped traffic. Wanting to be responsible and respectful of their time, I called the office as soon as we got on the freeway to let them know we might be cutting it close. I was told there was a 10-minute grace period. We arrived within that window. Here's where things went sideways: Despite submitting both forms back-to-back, they claimed they only received one. This seemed highly unlikely given how their system is set up. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was met with unnecessary rudeness from the front desk staff (I was given two different names: Melody or Isabel), who told me to "hurry up" and re-do the form or risk losing the appointment. I was already doing everything I could, and yet I was treated like I was the problem. Shortly after, I was told that the dentist had decided he would not see Ciara and that we would need to reschedule. No apology. No ownership. No attempt to accommodate or understand. Just a dismissive brush-off. I had already followed all instructions, provided insurance months ago, confirmed the appointment repeatedly, and communicated in real time when we hit traffic. To be dismissed like this, especially in a pediatric setting, is incredibly disappointing. To Dr. Nichols: If you're unaware of how your staff is treating new patients and families, I hope you'll take this as an opportunity to investigate and address it. Your practice came highly recommended by several people we trust (and you know personally outside your practice), and we were genuinely looking forward to this visit. They are always friendly and the most understanding people you could have for a dental office. My children love brushing their teeth and are even excited to go to the dentist thanks to the staff here. Even my 3 year old is able to sit still for the entire appointment which is a shock to me! I have no complaints aside from the fact that they're an hour away from us.
