I canceled coverage on a car with this agency and was told to keep paying the bills until it was caught up in their system. I was assured we would get a credit eventually. Guess what? The car was never canceled. I changed agents to try to get this resolved - and they finally canceled it for real - but I never got a credit for the five + months of billings. I have a voice mail from my contact in the agent's office stating that the car had been removed from our policy - and that we should continue paying it until we received a credit. Now, I'm told that since the voice mail message, which confirms that we canceled the car, wasn't from Scott, the agent, just someone who works for him, State Farm won't consider it valid. Even though, in the meantime, the car was insured by another company - and SOLD - and all the while State Farm continued to bill us for coverage after we canceled it. We've been customers of State Farm for over twenty years - and I am sad to say that most of the local agents in Eureka have gone waaaayyyy downhill. We've stayed with them these last few months - just in hopes of getting the refund that we're owed. It really feels like we've been getting fleeced. Baaaaaaaaaaahhhh...We are so done with State Farm. I just signed up for auto insurance with AAA - and for the more extensive coverage - I'm paying $100 less each month. And we had a 20 year "loyalty discount" with State Farm. Go figure... NOTE: All but one of the the positive reviewers for this agent have fewer than 6 total reviews. Maybe it's just me, but I always find that suspicious. read more

Very active agent. Love that he is so invoked with the community. Ask him about life insurance. He does a great job understanding individuals and making recommendations to fit their needs. We have had our homeowners coverage with State Farm for 26 years. Scott took over right where Paul Nicholson left off. I haven't had much contact with him but he seems dedicated, and stays in touch to make sure our insurance needs are met, which I appreciate. read more

Scott Hammond is a great agent! I have been with him for about 3 years and have nothing but great things to say about him! He is dedicated!

I've had many Insurance Agents throughout my life, but by far Scott Hammond at State Farm is the best. Scott's and his State Farm team is the ultimate go-to for Auto insurance, Homeowner's insurance, Life insurance, and yes, Business insurance. I love their office set in the Historic Eureka downtown area; I feel like I'm visiting his home rather than being in an office. The conversations we had was as if I were talking to a friend who had the inside scoop on insurance. Any questions or concerns regarding Auto insurance, Homeowner's insurance, Life insurance or Business insurance they answered all my questions with no hesitation and clarity. I left his office educated on what was necessary for my family and me to have complete coverage. Even suggesting products that I didn't know I should have thorough coverage. Scott Hammond and his team also offered me ways to save money on my insurance. Before you sign with any other insurance company, even if it's another State Farm office, talk to Scott Hammond and his team. read more

I've known Scott for many years and it's great to have someone like him in our community. In this day and age, many of us have gotten used to never meeting our insurance agents in person. It's good to know Scott is literally just down the street and available if I have a question. The thing that really sets him apart is how much he personally cares about his clients and community. Thanks Scott for all the work you're doing to make our community better. read more

You're going to read a lot of very positive reviews about Scott, and they're all true. But let me tell you about the man: he's got a heart a mile wide and ten miles deep. He will care for you as if you were family -- and he's got a big family. Scott is a man among men, and he takes care of his family! read more

I made an appointment with this agency a week prior, but arrived early for an appointment only to find no one was expecting me. After some confusion on their part, Scott Hammond met with me and we had a pleasant conversation about my insurance needs. He promised to get back to me with quotes for home, auto, and term life insurance. Over two weeks passed and I contacted Mr. Hammond to ask if he was waiting on me or if there was a delay. He responded to say that he'd been out of town and would get on it. The next day he informed me that he couldn't provide me with coverage for home and auto. I suppose he just forgot about the term life. When I let Mr. Hammond know how displeased I was that his unprofessional conduct had impacted my search for insurance, he apologized but also made a number of excuses that verged on the untrue (I'm being polite here). This was an extremely unsatisfactory situation. State Farm had the right to deny me coverage, obviously, but this agent's handling of the situation was so poor that I'm not sure if it was based on personal prejudice because I disclosed I am gay or just incompetence. In either case, I am making a formal complaint to State Farm and to the California Department of Insurance. Update: the business owner, Mr Scott Hammond, responds by saying his business respects 'all walks of life' but cannot bring himself to include LGBT people although he's responding to my concern about anti-gay prejudice. Hmmm. read more

When you're shopping around for an insurance agent, I think its important to find someone who genuinely cares about their clients and their well being. Someone who makes a personal investment in the people and the community they are serving. That's why I like Scott and have immense respect for him. He's involved, he supports good causes, he's a kind, decent, solid human being with good follow through. That's a quality I'm finding more and more rarely in insurance agents. Scott has two thumbs up from me! read more

Where to being ..... I have had State Farm Insurance for over 10 years .... I started out with my original agent who set my standards very High with how I should be treated and how my agent acts ... well he decided to retire we went through 2 other agents who didn't work out.... well when it was time for me to renew and change my policy around so instead of fallowing up with me or helping me out she just assumed I would stay with her as my agent, she was about as helpful as a pot hole to a blind person ... I met Scott through work and told him about my state farm experience and how I was slacking about renewing my policy and getting one set right for me. THIS IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SCOTT he brought me back to the experience that I once had with my old agent, he would call and check in and see how everything was and if everything was going OK. basically I could actually believe again that if I did the like a good neighbor state farm is there ....I know Scott would show up and I would not be left in the dust waiting or hanging in limbo. every where I see Scott its a hey how are you and a great laugh. If you are looking for a state farm agent then go to Scott read more

Scott Hammond is the most unprofessional, untrustworthy insurance agent I have ever dealt with. He was asked twice to transfer accounts two different times and blamed the botched process on the other agent which in the mean time our banks were attaching there own insurance because our insurance was cancelled. Recently I found out that he only released part of our accounts not all as I had requested. If it wasn't for the outstanding performance from the State Farm agent in Redding I would go to another company. This experience was very incensing and not at all funny. read more

I cannot express my displeasure with this place enough. It's been problem after problem, nothing can ever go right here. For months I've been trying to set up auto pay to no avail. Either they typed the wrong card number or there was an error on their part. Information was lost. It's always something and it is very frustrating to have to take time from a busy work day to come and try and get everything solved, to be told everything would be good from now on. Only to be told later that payment did not go through and that my policy went up with no notice or warning! That I now owe $250+ on top of me already having had to pay $200 because while I was over seas for a month, payment had again not been collected over auto pay due to some error on their end. I again went in, signed the form authorizing auto pay (again) and again to be having the same issue. I am so frustrated I want to cry. Let me be clear the insurance policies state farm offers are great but the service here is very lacking. I understand human error occurs but atleast they should take some responsibility. read more
